As the pair made it to the top of the wall, their view had dramatically shifted. They were no longer able to see anything on the other side of the wall, and instead a large room akin to the Athena’s lounge greeted them as they came to the top. Guinan stood at the top of the wall with them, peering into the cavernous place. “Something tells me you won’t be finding Kivon here,” she said as she nodded her head in the direction of a man sitting at a table.

Janna huffed in frustration. She was damned tired of the games! She was also exhausted and a part of her also understood that the events of this day had been unkind and even a bit traumatizing for her. She could sit back as a psychologist and diagnose the pieces but they were useless at the moment. Later though…

The man looked almost exactly like Orvos, however he was wearing a strange dark uniform. There was no evidence of any wounds on this man either. He simply looked at them and gestured to the seats at the table he sat at. Guinan did not hesitate as she made her way to him, leading the way for Stark and Janna.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Her natural curiosity was piqued and yet Janna was wary. Even as she moved closer to the table she was waiting for something else dramatic to change. But as her hand reached the back of the chair, Kingston exhaled slowly. However, she did not sit. “Orvos?” she said, not trusting anything about what she was experiencing here.

Again Stark chose to stay silent, but he angled himself for possible attack and was seriously losing the battle with keeping his claws sheathed.

Orvos nodded. “Yes it’s me, Janna. Quite frankly, I never expected to find you here in person. Always thought that part of the Nexus was just, oh, I don’t know…parallel dimension or fantasy of sort?”

He looked to the pair, noting how on edge they both were. “Please, you’re safe here. Rest a moment. This place exists outside of Kivon’s awareness. You see, I’m not your Orvos per se, and yet I am. Much like Guinan here, I’m an echo of the man who originally set foot in this place.” He allowed what he said to sink in as he stood up to hold a seat out for each of them.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Tears blurred her vision slightly and Janna forced herself to take a deep breath and sit in the proffered chair. “But if you’re from… before, then how do you know who I am?” she asked. “And where is our Orvos, as you say?”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Stark looked around, he half expected Q to turn up laughing like a maniac, the situation was that weird.

“Time and space are relative and all that other stuff that makes my head hurt,” he said in a disgruntled voice, “What is, will be, and what will be, already is, and all that timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly stuff.”

OOC: Excellent reference Ian! lol.

OOC Couldn’t resist :-)

IC: “I’ve explored a lot in here. Time’s past, time-to-be. Variant futures all on different scenarios. I’ve got all of time here to learn whatever I like. Your Orvos is still here in the Nexus fighting Kivon. And he will have to stay here to do so. Kivon may very well kill him here, but that is not the end.”

“You have the ability to save him, and yourselves from Kivon. You can leave to any place, any time. How did you get here? Is there a way you can go back, knowing what you know now, to change events that led you here?”

This Orvos was definitely more composed that the one they were used to.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark was running the numbers on what an incredible training tool the Nexus could be but then stopped short as he thought of the permutations for evil as well. he looked over at Janna, somehow he knew that she and not he was the key to unraveling this.

Janna shook her head. “We were on Starbase 157 and Kivon appeared and seems to think I was his wife…” Her eyes widened. “What happened to Kivon’s wife. I mean, I can guess based on all this hell he put us through. Borg, El Aurians, death. I get it. We’d have to stop Kivon from taking me away from there. I suppose if we went back to that time knowing what he was planning, we could interfere with his plans, but that means interfering with history, however minor. Temporal Prime Directive does seem to apply here.” She gestured between Stark and herself. ” We are Starfleet officers after all, as is Orvos.”

Bump when you’re back

Nexus Orvos eyed Janna thoughtfully. “It would only change yours and Mr. Nightstalker’s history. Time does not exist here, therefore when you disappeared, time for you stopped. For those involved, it would simply cause the lot of you to no longer be halted within history.”

Orvos put a closed fist before Janna. Slowly, he turned and opened it, revealing a small yellow ball of light as silent as the distant stars seen in the night sky. “This is yours, and it’s called time. The question you must answer is…what are you going to do with it? Spend the rest of your life here, but exploring all the possibilities of what could have happened? You could very well live out the most joyful times imaginable, if you so wished. Or will you use that time outside of here, to not only continue to age and resume your life, but to save the one you seem to care so deeply about?”

She did care. That much Janna had become aware of. Her mind slipped back to that first day when Orvos took her to the holodeck and he tried to unravel the essence of who she was through surroundings she might choose. It was a very therapist thing to do, but she understood just enough about herself to know that she had intrigued him with her inability t make it so simple for him. She was drawn to him, sure, but more than that? It seemed silly. And yet, she felt a fundamental ache at the thought of something happening to him.

He gently touched Janna’s hand to bring it to the light. Orvos then gently gave it to her, his one hand keeping hers steady. Guinan simply watched as the typical El Aurian would do.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Mouth drawn open in slight awe, Janna glanced at Stark as she carefully held the light. She had no desire to stay here in this dreamworld anymore. “Will you hate me if I pull us away?” she asked Stark. “We have to go. Orvos needs us to.”

~Janna Kingston, Assistant CNS

Stark’s eyes were unreadable but his tone was not, “Orvos needs us to, and we need to as well. I could no more hate you for it than I could hate myself, let’s go”.
