“I think the pasta would have turned out beautifully if the machine hadn’t disintegrated. I swear, something is wrong with that replicator. And now here Ensign Lee has a terrible gash in her arm because of an inept replicator or something.” she explained.

A few minutes later after the ship had clearly traversed the anomaly and everything had gone more quiet, the lean form of the captain stepped through the doors, her long fingers gripping something carefully in her hand. Her pale amber eyes took in the scene and immediately veered for their CMO. “Ben,” she said dropping her voice so she could speak more privately. “You need to scan me, asap. And then also confirm that I’m not going crazy and am actually holding this in my hand.” As she lifted her hand and unfolded her fingers, there was a Terran baseball with two signatures scrawled on it.

OOC: Just FYI, Sarah is taking a 1-2 month break from the ship, but she’ll be back!

Benjamin moved immediately to the Captain, there weren’t many people who called him by his first name and when on duty it almost never happened without some urgency involved. He quickly reset his medical scanner and started the general scan, allowing his hand to scan whilst focusing his vision on the small ball “Well if that is supposed to be a baseball then I would say no, you’re not going crazy” His usual accent slipping towards his native Scottish as he was prone to after a long day or several “I’m assuming its existence is somewhat relevant?” he asked.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Closing her eyes for a brief moment, Ghubari exhaled. Returning her gaze to Ben she gave a weary smile. Turning the ball in her fingers, she shook her head in amazement. “It’s very relevant,” she said before she started chuckling. “Especially given that this was given to me by a currently non-corporeal being who exists in another realm. Had to make sure my mind didn’t just fabricate everything.”

The scan showed above normal activity in her temporal and frontal lobes but otherwise there was nothing worrisome present.

Benjamin blinked twice in surprise before looking down at his scanner “Uhm, you.. you are in good health Captain, A bit unusual brain activity but nothing to be overly concerned about”

S’Raal seeing the other doctors busy with the wounded looked at his wife who nodded assent as she went about the task she was designed for with her new charge. He stepped over to Ensign Lee and Marishka, “Mind if I take a look, I’m a doctor”.

Ensign Lee sighed and extended her left arm. It had a deep gash in it from the wrist nearly to the elbow. The young woman looked up at S’Raal.

“It’s really like the damned thing just flew apart, started disintegrating, and the gash really stings.” she explained.

  • Marishka/Lee

“Flew apart sounds pretty ominous” S’Raal numbed the area with a spray and set to work on the wound with an autosuture for the muscle and a dermal regenerator. “You’re going to have to go light on this arm for a day or two, everything is being bound up but we don’t want to put strain on it until your body catches up on the healing process”.

He turned to Marishka and his amber eyes were concerned, “Do you think the thing was faulty?”

Marishka had been considering that since the incident. She had been receiving text updates since escorting Ensign Lee to sickbay.

“Actually, I have a feeling it’s the replicator that could be at fault here. I’ve had other members of my kitchen staff replicate other things we might need on a day to day basis and they’ve all come up faulty.”

Marishka sighed and shook her head. Ensign Lee looked at her boss.

“I have a friend who works in Engineering just in case you don’t wanna call… Him.” Lee said with a certain tone to her voice.

“I’ll deal with that later. You are much more important at the moment. I have other replicators.” Marishka said.

Marishka turned her attention to S’Raal.

“Don’t worry Doctor, we’ll take very good care of her. And how are you doing?” she asked with a glance int he direction of his wife and child.

  • Marishka

S’Raal’s grin was genuine and broad. “Much better now that I have my daughter back in one piece. It was touch and go for a bit”.

He continued to work on the wound as he spoke, “Stark speaks highly of you and my Uncle is not easily impressed”.

Marishka nodded and smiled a bit at S’Raal as he treated NE Lee’s wound.

“I could tell when I meth your uncle that he wasn’t the easily impressed type. His high praise flatters me. If there’s ever anything I can do for you, or your lovely wife, please let me know. I am here to serve after all.” Marishka had to stop. The Orion in her was taking over and she could feel the need for some time sparing on the holodeck soon. But where to find a suitable partner?

S’Raal’s grin widened and T’Pon gave a small smile as well. “Then we name you friend of family and share what we have and who we are,” he said formally, “Good friends come along rarely but when they are it is to be celebrated. Please feel free to call on us if need be as well.

Koraia looked around and spotted T’Pon. That was her next stop, but first she had to make sure her crew overall were okay. “How are things down here?” she asked Grey.

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

“It’s had its ups and downs, at least the damn holograms aren’t trying to kill my patients this time” He said in hushed tones “When we get to spacedock next I want the damn thing replaced or better yet removed” His anger was admittedly a bit displaced “But we haven’t had any serious injuries for a good while now, not since we stabilized whatever it was that was merging the crew. I suspect that’ll be included in the mission log?” He asked.

For a moment Ghubari seemed amused. Then again, there was so much weariness behind the smile that perhaps she was just reaching the point where everything was amusing. She reached her hand out and rested it on his shoulder. “In some form, I imagine so. But… stand down, Ben. We’re home now. We’ll figure things out. Thank you,” she said softly.

Koraia exhaled. “I should go visit with a couple of your patients too.” ANd with a nod, she moved away.

Benjamin gave the Captain a curt nod, moments after she left he allowed himself to exhale some of his tension away if the Captain said he could stand down then it was safe. He only gave himself a moment, however, moving directly to a nearby patient.

Ghubari gave Marishka a questioning look and a nod as she passed. Much to say and much to organize later but for the moment that needed to just all take a deep collective breath. Baseball still in hand, she moved over to T’Pon, and couldn’t help but smile at the new mother and child. “I guess this makes me a Great-Aunt, doesn’t it?”

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

“Indeed” T’Pon had a smile that put the sun to shame, “Thank you for all you did to return my daughter to me, it is comforting to have an Aunt with such determination and resources at her disposal”.

Marishka gave Ghubari a nearly imperceptible nod and made
a mental note to keep a bottle of good whiskey nearby for when the Captain eventually showed up at the lounge.

Stark was still under observation and was getting decidedly “antsy”. “Am I good to go?” he said a bit plaintively. “I mean, I was just a little run down is all”.

Marishka looked pointedly in Stark’s direction and smiled.

“Oh I don’t know. Maybe they ought to keep you longer.” she said good naturedly.
