The dust had settled (so to speak), and despite feeling like she was walking through a dreamworld at times, Ghubari kept going. There were reports to be done, new crew to meet with, repairs and re-stocking to organize. She wasn’t ready to just stop and process what had just happened to them. Again.

What Koraia did know was that they needed a moment to catch their collective breaths and take care of some things that had been waiting for her attention. Thus she called the crew together, sending out a memo:

======
To: ALL ATHENA CREW
From: Fleet Captain Koraia, Ghubari (Commanding Officer)

RE: Mandatory Crew Gatheringe

Please be informed that we will be holding a ceremony in 17/18 Forward tomorrow at 1800 hours. I expect everyone to be in dress uniforms. Afterwards you are free to stay for drinks and food as you like.

~Koraia

The next day, after squaring away the requisition requests, she arrived a bit early, sidling up to the bar, her dress uniform impeccable. A box of small boxes in hand, she wore an indecipherable expression.

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

Karina had spent a good part of the morning placing her hair up in just the right way so it wouldn’t come loose and embarrass her in her dress uniform. At the appointed time, the auburn haired, green eyed doctor entered the space and looked around. The uniform she didn’t mind. Unlike most of her crewmates, she enjoyed dressing up like this on occasion. What she did mind were large gatherings like this. She knew the two went hand in hand, but it didn’t mean she had to like it.

Moving towards the windows to look out at the stars, then down at the PaDD in her hand. It seemed more and more it was ever present on her when she went someplace. Her hobby seemed a bit more important of late with the loss and recovery of the Athena. Somehow the whole ‘you only have so long’ saying was constantly on her mind.

Jennifer stepped into 17/18 Forward, wearing her dress uniform. She looked around the room and spotted her new Captain, but turned away after only giving the woman a slight nod. Spotting an auburn-haired ensign whose dress uniform colours suggested either a science or medical track, she stepped over to the woman. “Hello,” she said, inclining her head slightly. Her long, wavy red hair was pulled into the tight bun she usually had it in when she was on duty.

She noticed the PaDD, and glanced at it. “Feel like sharing what you’re working on?”

After entering the lounge, Viyara slipped onto one of the stools at the end of the bar. For as social as she was, she always enjoyed people watching a great deal and right now it felt like this was the perfect moment for the latter. At least for the time being. Her dark purple hair was pulled back in her messy, trademark ponytail. A few strands were framing her face and falling over her left eye. And while she was in her dress uniform, she had rolled up her sleeves, leaving the tattoos on bot her arms clearly visible. Sitting there, her gaze landed on the two women close to the window. One of them she had already met; back on the Starbase when she had first arrived. The other one she didn’t know, but from the colour of her dress uniform and the pips on her collar, she guessed that it was the First Officer. Turning her head slightly, her gaze landed next on the Captain and the box she was holding in her hands. Of course this would be an occasion for people to receive promotions and commendations. Viyara chuckled softly and shifted her attention towards the door to watch the rest of the crew trickle in by and by.

Of course there was a part of Orvos that dreaded coming to the lounge these days, though it had subsided more and more as he got used to the lounge host. It espeically had changed since she and Stark had witnessed his own program in the holodeck. The whole situation was a bit of a waiting game at this point. So he put it out of his mind.

Dress uniforms. It was the one thing that made Orvos stick out as the chief engineer among the entire crew. People knew of him sure, but once in the general public of the crew, everyone would remember who was responsible for solving all of their mechanical problems on the ship. He much preferred civilians clothes when in the lounge.

Orvos made his way to bar and ordered a small beverage as he surveyed the area. He could sense Marishka nearby, but then again, this was her domain. He was curious if Janna would make her presence known to him, or if she would intentionally avoid him. He also was curious as to other crew members as well. Most usually avoided him, though some odd ducks showed up once in awhile trying to strike a conversation with him. He sighed and took another sip of his drink.

Slightly startled from her nose being in the PaDD, Karina straightened swiftly seeing who it was. “Ma’am. Hello. This? Oh…ummm… kinda boring to most folks. I’m studying the medical record comparisons of the brain in full and mixed Betazoid females. They have an ability to live longer than pure humans. And seem to have less mind degenerative issues like Alzheimers and Parkinson’s. While we have few humans left with those thanks to gene therapies, there are probably additional benefits humans, and other species, may gleen from such things.” She bit her lip and stifled a laugh. “Sorry. Told you it was boring.”

“It’s kinda the opposite of boring,” Jennifer replied, a sparkle in her eye. “I’d love to read it if you ever need a second set of eyes. Former CMO,” she gestured to herself, leaning back slightly. “And please, don’t call me Ma’am.that makes me feel way too old.”

Karina turned off the PaDD and held it before her in both hands, fingers fidgeting over it. “By the way, don’t think I’ve checked back in with you, yet. Welcome back to this time and place. You were missed.” It seemed silly to say out loud. But Karina felt it necessary to let others know they weren’t abandoned at any point.

The XO looked rather confused at the comment. “This time and place? Is there something I missed…?” She glanced around at the crew around them. “I’ve just arrived on the Athena this morning, I’m not sure what you mean.”

Cmdr. Wallace, XO

Marishka seemed to appear from nowhere. She may not know all the ins and outs of the ship as well as the CE but, she had learned her domain well.

Stepping out from behind the bar she made her way through the gathering crowds like a woman who knew how to navigate the press of people. As a civilian she had no dress uniform therefore she wore Grecian garb denoting high status. As she wove her way through the crowd she nodded and bowed slightly in greeting making certain to catch the Captain’s eye and acknowledge the new XO before finally settling a few feet from the CE.

“Good evening Commander.” she said raising a silent toast of fine champagne before turning and walking away again.

  • Marishka

Jennifer nodded slightly to the lounge host, giving the woman a small smile.

Karina nodded to Marishka as she passed them. It was good to see the woman again. Glancing back to the XO, she blushed in embarrassment. “Forgive me, I thought you had come aboard before they departed. I was away, myself so all I knew was we had several new crewmembers. In that case, welcome to the Athena.” She tried to laugh off the awkwardness, but it didn’t quite work.

“Where did they go?” Jennifer asked, tilting her head slightly and giving the young doctor a soft smile. “I haven’t had time to read up on recent mission reports, and it would be nice to know what my new crew has been up to recently. Even nicer to hear it straight from the crew, right?”

Kaylee slid over to stand next to Orvos just as Marishka turned and walked away. She had a glass of dark liquid in hand. The blue eyed woman looked over at the CE and smiled. “Well good evening,” She said, winking. She turned her attention to the crowd, noticing Nazeen sitting a few stools down, someone she hadn’t met yet. She gave the other woman a friendly wave in greeting. Then Kaylee looked back to Orvos.

“Enjoying yourself yet?” She asked mischievously, taking a sip of her drink.

-Kaylee Baxter

Orvos, being a full El-Aurian, was able to sense the moods of others nearby. Kaylee was no difficult read. Perhaps he needed to lighten up a bit?

He grinned. “Always. Someone has to anyway, right? How about yourself?”

It was in Marishka’s mind to circle back to Orvos but, for now, she was on the hunt for the Captain. Two such civilized and polite women could certainly settle the matter she had on her mind. Hopefully tonight they could finally name this bar and announce it properly tot he crew.

  • Marsihka

Orvos allowed Marishka to slip from his mind for now. He chided himself for even having to do such a thing. Allowing someone, simply based on their allure, to capture his attention was a dangerous thing for Orvos.

Stark stepped in with S’Raal next to him. T’Pon had begged off on the ceremony wanting to spend more time with her daughter understandably. S’Raal had nearly stayed with her, still nervous about another kidnapping but Stark had arranged for Ensign Ceres to stand guard to keep his nephew from worry. They both stood ramrod straight and surveyed the room together.

The entrance of Stark and S’Raal caught Marishka’s eye and she made her way towards them dropping a graceful curtsy upon her approach.

“Good evening gentlemen. The room shines just a bit more upon your arrival. So nice to see you here.” she said cheerily.

  • Marishka

S’Raal bowed first holding his tail in his hand as he did so. Stark’s was a little less practiced but his own smile was genuinely warm as he replied. “Nothing could outshine you Marishka”.

Meanwhile, Ghubari was still leaning against the bar watching the room with her usual intensity, though it was less pensive than usual. If anything, she seemed rather amused as she held a box of small boxes. The empath was constantly gathering information about her crew, but tonight it was different. Or was it her that was different? Hmmm, speculation for later.

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

Orvos could sense every now and then, the captain’s eyes falling on him. He ignored, not feeling the need to address it. She was the captain, and monitoring her crew was part of the job. It didn’t make him any less uneasy however.

Dress uniforms never bothered Izzy like they did a lot of people. She liked the unusual uniform with its starched collar and rigid design. The bottom of her jacket hit right at her prim waist. Her hair was up and out of the way in a simple french twist. She really needed to cut it. Her hair was the longest it had been since she was 16.

Marishka wasn’t certain whether she should take him seriously or not but a compliment was a compliment.

“Well be that as it may, tonight it is the crew of the Athena’s night to shine. Come come, let me set you up with food and drink.”

  • Marishka

As she entered 17/18 Forward, she heard Marishka tell Stark that she was going to set him up with food and drink. Izzy approached the Lounge’s nightingale and smiled. “Oh me too please. I don’t know what it is about official gatherings, but I eat a TON when they happen. It is like I am programmed into believing these functions will have endless delicious food.”

Delaney, Sec

Orvos, of course noticed Izzy stepping into the lounge as well. He was familiar with her, and worked with her on more than one occasion. He gave her a nod if her eyes caught his. Otherwise he returned his attention to Kaylee.
