Guinan than gestured to the light in Janna’s hands. “What you have is the key to locking it. Orvos is right in that you may use it as you wish. You could use it–‘time’–to do as you see fit. You could use it travel anywhere and see just about anything. However, it is the only way to shut Kivon’s door. When you are near, and Kivon attempts to whisk you into the Nexus again, that orb will negate all effects of his door way. The nexus particles he has been able to use will be negated and destroyed when your orb and his device come into contact.”

Orvos then added, “But you must understand that Orvos will have no idea what has happened and what will happen.”

So the whole thing boiled down to whether or not Orvos would trust her, whether the tenuous threads of connection they have forged so far meant anything at all. Fantastic. Still… as Janna gazed down at the light in her hands she felt a sense of wonder, of possibility. She glanced at Stark. “So… our best bet is to go back to just after we step onto the Starbase?”

~Janna Kingston, Assistant CNS

“Agreed” Stark said looking at the light with more than a little suspicion, “I am ready when you are”.

Holding the light, Janna gazed at Guinan for a moment before she closed her eyes and remembered that moment just after they had stepped onto the starbase looking for some down time.

Guinan grinned, almost knowingly to Janna.

Echo Orvos concluded with, “Good luck.”

And then, both Stark’s and Janna’s vision blurred to darkness.

=====================================================

Orvos stepped onto the platform at the starbase. He, Janna, and Stark were headed inside for some time off duty. Their goal: food. He paused soaking in the bustling people, the odd aromas, and the sounded of many people speaking to each other. He had a restaurant in mind, though something felt off to him. He couldn’t pinpoint what it was, but it was almost a feeling of deja vu. But, of course, he had never encountered this situation before.

He brushed the thought aside and strode forward to lead them to a decent place to eat.

Stark was disoriented for a second and then snapped into high alert looking at Janna his eyes full of questions as to what they should do now.

Janna gave Stark a tiny knowing nod. She had this. She wasn’t sure what she could or couldn’t do with the ball of light, but she didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention. Gently, she stuck her hand still holding the ball, into her pocket and hoped for the best.

Reaching out, Kingston rested her hand on Orvos’ arm, stopping him. She gestured with her head for them to step over to a quiet corner of the Promenade.

Orvos followed curiously.

Looking up at me, she searched him face intently. Everything was all weird know but she sought that strange moment of connection on the holodeck. “Do you trust me, Orvos?”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Orvos paused, keeping eye contact and hoping to sense her current mental state in whatever detail he could perceive. “Of course I do. Why?” he said slowly, obviously curious and anticipating a reply that would reveal much more than what he knew.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark went on high alert stepping back slightly to keep the two fo them in the wider perspective of all who were moving in the vicinity. He wanted to be ready if interference came their way.
