Janna’s weariness slipped away to be replaced by a wide grin. “Don’t I know it…” she said with a gleam in her clear blue eyes. “You’re obviously new here. I’m Janna, one of the counselling staff.” She gestured to the stools between them. “May I join you?”

“Nice to meet you Janna. Daggum Hammor, new Operations Chief. And yes you may, by all means.” and he gestured to the seat next to him. “And indeed I am new. Just arrived today. I take it you’ve been on board a while?”

She gave a little nod as she slipped off her stool and moved down to join him. “Been four years now..” she said before shaking her head. “Feels longer and yet, not that long,” she said with a laugh that was a good mix fatigue and bewilderment.

Hammor chuckled and said “Four years on this ship? You should be an Admiral by now. The after-action reports are… something else.” and he nodded to the bartender as he set the bright pink drink with an umbrella stuck in it in front of him. He lifted the drink to Janna in a toast and said “Here’s to meeting you, Janna.”

Laughing, she lifted her glass and grinned. “Cheers!”
After taking a sip and setting her glass down, she turned her body and adopted a more open posture. “So… Operations Chief. On this ship. Scared?” she said with a sparkle in her eyes.

Hammor took a sip and shook his head. “Nope, not at all. Excited, and I know it’s a huge undertaking, but not scared.” and he looked down at her and smiled. “As one of the counseling staff and in your expert opinion, does that make me a bit crazy?” and he laughed softly.
