Hammor grinned and said “I’ve seen asylums before… from what I’ve read, this is more like a party barge for adrenaline junkies.” and he looked at her and chuckled.

“I seriously cannot wait to get started.” and he took a drink.

Kingston laughed. “Ahhh, you’re going to fit in just fine, Commander,” she said, shaking her head. “And hey, as a party barge, we certainly have some great amenities to go along with it. Helps with the mental breakdowns.” Looking over her shoulder into the rest of the lounge, she gave a fond smile as she took in the crew gathered. “It’s a good group. Dedicated to the point of obsession perhaps, but then again all slightly dysfunctional families are.”

Hammor shrugged slightly and said “Haven’t had one of those in a while… let alone a dysfunctional one. Might take me a bit to find my footing. Fortunately, I have a truly epic work load in front of me, so I can always just bury myself in that if the dysfunction gets too much, right?” and he chuckled.

Janna had sipped her wine a bit more and her brows rose. She pointed a finger at him. “You better be just joking, because you should remember who you’re talking. I have a Doctorate of Psychology, Mister. Don’t think you’re going to get away with anything.” And while there was a gleam in her grass green eyes.

Hammor looked straight ahead and smiled as he took a sip of his drink. “I don’t have any kind of degree or anything; but you would be amazed at what I can get away with if I put my mind to it, Doc.” and his eyes glanced her way with a mischievous twinkle in them.

Kingston shook her head, her blond curls shifting slightly. “Uh huh. And it is crew members like you that keep me working endlessly long days. So if you want to look at it another way, you’d be doing me a favour, a kindness. After all, I don’t think you want to see what happens to a counsellor when they tip over the edge into burn out.” It was all lighthearted teasing, but there was a measure of seriousness in her words.

“Far be it from me to push you to the brink, Doc.” Hammor replied and signaled for another round. “Besides, other than a very disconcerting greeting from our esteemed CIO when I stepped off the shuttle, you are the closest thing to a friend I have here so far.” and he looked at her and said “So why would I do that now? Who knows how long I have to drive you crazy? I need to pace myself.”
