Kingston shook her head, her blond curls shifting slightly. “Uh huh. And it is crew members like you that keep me working endlessly long days. So if you want to look at it another way, you’d be doing me a favour, a kindness. After all, I don’t think you want to see what happens to a counsellor when they tip over the edge into burn out.” It was all lighthearted teasing, but there was a measure of seriousness in her words.

“Far be it from me to push you to the brink, Doc.” Hammor replied and signaled for another round. “Besides, other than a very disconcerting greeting from our esteemed CIO when I stepped off the shuttle, you are the closest thing to a friend I have here so far.” and he looked at her and said “So why would I do that now? Who knows how long I have to drive you crazy? I need to pace myself.”

Janna chuckled. “Thank you, much appreciated.” She finished off the last of her syntheholic wine and then asked for another. “So you met Stark, did you? Doesn’t surprise me. Unexpected greetings are his specialty,” she said fondly.

She turned on her stool to fully face him. “But give it time. You only just got here, Daggum. And this crew had been through the wringer. Part of it is traumatized and the rest is just trying to catch its breath. Be aware that you’re probably not catching us at our best,” she said with a wink.
