Hammor leaned towards he r and stage whispered “I’m Operations… I never catch people at their best. They have either messed up a system, lost something, ran out of something and forgot to order it, need something, or can’t find the something they did order.” He laughed and said “In all my time in Ops, I can’t remember any time someone came to my office that didnt have an issue of some kind. So you don’t have to worry about me judging… to me, its just Tuesday.” and he nodded thanks to the bartender who placed the new drink in front of him.

Hammor, Ops

Janna accepted her refreshed drink and smiled at Hammor. “Ahh, but the difference is you love it. You get a thrill out of the logistical gymnastics. I bet there are few people who don’t come around to your way of thinking when something isn’t happening,” she said with a knowing wink. They both dealt with people’s psychology, just in different ways.

Daggum chuckled and said “Oh, you’d be surprised. Especially when the something not happening is their doing. Funny how most sentient beings shy away from taking responsibility. Oh, credit they jockey to be first… but responsibility is most often an orphan.” He turned fully towards her and looked directly into her eyes.

Thats the part I like best. Knowing that I don’t have that luxury… far from it, actually. More often than not, it falls to my department to take responsibility for things other people screwed up.” He laughed a good natured laugh, the accompanying smile traveling all the way up to his eyes. “And thats fine. Because at the end of the day, as long as the job is done… thats what matters. Blame is for people in red uniforms and more pips on their collars than me to deal with.”

Hammor, Ops

Janna laughed. “Well, that is certainly one way to look at it. Though, in my experience, those with the uniform and pips can handle the blame game well enough.”

She sipped at her new glass of wine. “Have you always done operations? Or did you start out elsewhere?” It was good to see that he was open to getting to know people and se had to admit that it was always nice to talk with someone whose first immediately thought was to run because they might get psychoanalyzed.
