This though, this she could not hide. Isabel beamed in pride and she couldnt keep the smile off of her face or the tears from glistening in her eyes as she accepted the change of pips. It was hard to stand still but she did through it all, finally looking at the Captain and nodding. “Thank you Captain. Truly. It’s an honor to serve.” Then she dutifully stepped down so that the next person could be recognized.

Koraia gave Izzy a wink as the security officer left.

Kaylee clapped her hands with each passing promotion. She was always happy to see crew members rewarded for a job well done. She looked over and signaled the bartender for another drink.

R’han gave each promotion a polite and respectful round of applause. What was interesting they were each identical in volume, frequency, and duration. R’han didn’t want to show favorites, mostly because he didn’t have any, but even if he did he wouldn’t want to reveal them.

When she finally sat back down next to Lieutenant Vander, she looked just the same as she had on stage. She blinked rapidly to keep the tears from falling. Her family would be ecstatic. She knew her boss was proud of her too. Her demotion and transfer to main fleet from the Marines had been one of the most devastating blows she could ever have thought possible. Izzy had had to climb back tooth and nail and prove herself time and again. It had been such a hard battle for her. PTSD, the nightmares, the stress, the internal struggles, all worked on so that she did not shame her ship and crewmates. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly before lifting her glass for a sip. Now she wished for something considerably stronger than the cocktail in hand.

Smiling widely Konral patted Izzy on the back with a wide grin. “See, just need to give you a kick in the right direction… I am glad to have you on my team Izzy…” Konral said with a wide almost paternal-like smile. “This means you have to buy lunch now that you got promoted,” he said with a wink as he leaned back as he looked up smiling at Ghubari.

Karina went and sat down. She hadn’t expected to be promoted, and the pleasure of the rank advancement was making her grin much wider on the inside than the outside where a very calm smile had settled on her lips. It occurred to her that being obnoxious and persistent were good things… on occasion.

Casting her gaze once again over the crowd, Ghubari settled on their rather enigmatic Chief Engineer. “Lieutenant Legen, your turn,” she said lightly. She was actually having quite a bit of fun, all told, and she didn’t mind if people actually knew that.

At the mention of the CE, Marishka motioned for a fresh glass of champagne whether it would be to toast his promotion or something else she wasn’t quite sure yet.

Stark smiled, it was obvious Orvos deserved some recognition, the question remained, for which part exactly?

For once standing a little to the side instead of mingling, Viyara watched and listened as one by one members of her new crew got promoted. From what she heard, she could tell that they all deserved it. And so she applauded for each of them in term, even though she didn’t really know any of them yet. At the same time the normally so energetic and carefree scientist found herself unexpectedly introspective. In all her years in Starfleet the only promotion she had ever received was the one from Cadet to Ensign. Not that she thought she should have deserved a promotion by now. If it was possible, it would have been more likely for her to get demoted. She had always thought, or at least told herself and everyone else, that she didn’t care about promotions. Yet all of a sudden she felt a twinge of sadness, maybe even a little jealousy. This ship or her crew really were messing with her head! Pushing all those thoughts and feelings to the deepest corner of her mind, Viyara headed over to the bar. Leaning against it, her most charming smile in place, she asked, “Can I have a glass of the strongest drink you have?”

~Ensign Nazeen, Scientist

The bar tender looked concerned. He knew that Marishka had many concoctions behind the bar that she preferred to dish out herself and had expressly requested that he had not.

“Would you like me to pour you something now or would you like to wait a minute and have me call the boss? She has all the dark secrets including the proper liability release forms you’ll need to sign.” he said finally meeting Viyara’s eyes.

Her lips slightly pursed and her head tilted a little to the right, Viyara pondered for a short moment and then said, “I’ll wait.” She really wanted a drink, but also felt like something strong. More than your usual drinks. And from the sound of it, she might be able to actually get something like that if she waited. So waiting it was. Not to mention that there was something cute about the barkeepers uneasiness. Leaning even closer towards him, she asked, “What’s your name?”

Orvos’s brows shot up with a bit of shock. Orvos was used selecting his moments of being out in front of others. He was much better one on one. After a heartbeat later, he realized he hadn’t moved. Quickly, he moved forward and briskly stepped up and faced the captain. He kept his face towards her, eyes meeting her own as he carefully kept his expression neutral outwardly. Inwardly, however, he was not only surprised but perhaps a bit concerned. He knew she could read minds and emotions, so he kept his thoughts centered on there being no need to do this publicly. Recognition was not what he had ever really sought. Though, a part of him was appreciative nonetheless.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

His hesitance hadn’t surprised her, nor were his mental shielding going to fool her. Ghubari really didn’t need to read his emotions since she knew Orvos just well enough to hazard a likely accurate guess. “Not all actions are overtly heroic. Nor are they always done in the presence of all to see. Much has happened the last few years and when I go to write my reports, there are people whose actions always show up. Dedication is an important trait in an officer and one I highly value. So is dependability. Orvos Legen, for constant service in often dire circumstances, for doing what it not only required and necessary but going above and beyond, I hereby promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with all the rights, responsibilities, and privileges, therein. Congratulations,” she said with deep sincerity, offering him her hand. Yes, I see you, she directed at him, though she knew he couldn’t pick up the words.
