Janna grinned. “I think the probability is quite high. It certainly has it’s perks and there’s not shortage of excitement.”
While they were speaking Ann had scurried away tog et their order. She returned presently, walking carefully, with a slice of apple pie a la mode and one whole black forest cake.
The dessert chef had looked surprised to be giving up a whole cake so early in the evening but, when Ann had explained who the order was for, Xhef just shrugged and began gathering ingredients for another one.
“Here you are and have a lovely evening.” she said with a bright smile before turning to walk back to the bar.
“Thank you,” Kingston said with a smile.
Va’rek wandered into the lounge and took a seat at the bar. He was going over something on a PaDD while deciding on a beverage order. He’d been quite wrapped up in work for many days, having fallen down a theoretical rabbit hole which he was trying to prove with mathematical work before trying an actual experiment.

“Drink Lieutenant?” Ann asked.
- Ann
“Okay,” Janna said to Hammor as she slid her dish towards him. “I dont’ know if you’ve had ice cream, but it’s basically churned and frozen sweet liquid, most often dairy, so it’s all creamy. This is vanilla flavoured and vanilla is a dried long pod that adds a warm spiced depth to sweet dishes. This particular kind doesn’t just us an extract but the insides are scrapped out and added to the ice cream to give it an even better and deep flavour.”

Hammor nodded and took a small scoop on his spoon and ate it. He was thoughtful for a moment and then said “The texture I like… but definitely not a… what did you call it?… a ‘vanilla’ guy. Nope, not my bag.” and he shrugged. “More for you, then.” and he picked up a fork and took a bite of cake, sliding it forward slightly so Janna could have some as well.
“Oh good, I get my cheery,” Janna said with a grin as she plucked out delicately off of his cake.
“So… is there a ‘Mr. or Mrs. Kingston’ around somewhere? Thought I’d ask as I like to avoid stepping on anyone’s toes as much as possible.” and he smiled as he took another bite.

Janna burst out laughing. “No one you need to worry about.” She twirled her spoon between her fingers. “And here I thought this was just a friendly welcome to the ship dinner,” she said with a wink.

Hammor smiled and said “Still is… I just like to be prepared for… potentialities.” and he winked back and took a bite of the cake. After chewing slowly and looking at her, he grinned and then looked away as he took a drink to wash the bite down. Looking back at her, he said “I will say… this is by far the finest ‘just a friendly welcome to the ship dinner’ I have ever had. I better find more reasons to run into you outside of your welcome wagon duties. Such good company is hard to find.”
Hammor
She couldn’t help but grin, as she cut her spoon into her ice cream. “Well, not to toot my own horn, but I’ve always thought I was good company if people could get past the counsellor job title. It depends though. Some assignments have been harder than others, bt I’ve enjoyed the Athena despite the difficult circumstances upon which I boarded.”
