Jennifer stood behind one of the chairs in the conference room, gripping onto the chair back in order to prevent herself from pacing the room. This would go well. This would go well. It had to. She was in charge of the ship for the next few weeks until Ghubari and Konral returned, so she was technically in charge for that time. Which… was fine. She stared at the PADD on the table, re-reading the message she’d sent to the rest of the senior officers, requesting them all to meet her in this conference room for an important meeting.

She remembered the days of being on the other side of this kind of meeting. It wasn’t always particularly fun, but it was useful. And it looked like this ship hadn’t experienced one in a while, so it was about time. And what better way to take charge and show she was ready for this than to administrate an annual review, right? Hopefully it didn’t make the old crew dislike her. They should be arriving within a few minutes, since the meeting started in ten…

  • Wallace, XO

Kaylee walked in, sporting her signature high ponytail, carrying a PaDD in one hand. She stopped just inside the doorway, looking around, her face clearly showing her surprise in being the first one to arrive.

Smiling, Kaylee approached Jennifer. “Commander, good to see you. How have you been?”

-Kaylee Baxter, Chief Diplomatic Officer

Jennifer gave Kaylee a small nod, glancing over as another officer stepped in.

Just a few seconds behind the Diplomat the doors slid open again, and the doorway was filled with a quite large gold uniform encasing the newly arrived Orion Operations Chief. He looked at the two already in the room and smiled slightly. “Hello. Nice to meet you, both. Daggum Hammor, Chief Operations Officer.”

Hammor, Ops

Kaylee smiled, extending her hand warmly to the new face. “I’m Kaylee Baxter, the Chief Diplomatic Officer. It’s a pleasure to meet you. How are you finding life on the Athena so far?”

Hammor chuckled and said “My first couple of days have been good, but I think I’ll hold off judgement for at least a week.” and he winked as he took her hand in a surprisingly gentle grip and shook it twice before releasing it and taking a seat.

Stark walked in, nodded to all and sat. He seemed a little distracted.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Kaylee gave Stark a smile, and noticed his absentmindedness. She made a mental note to check in with him later for a chat.

Hammor, Ops Chief

Benjamin arrived almost late, half running into the meeting room still in his long white medical robe, A cup of coffee in one hand, and a collection of PaDDs in the other. He gave the Commander an apologetic smile and sat down then carefully placed his items down in front of him.

Wallace cleared her throat once everyone who was going to come to the meeting had arrived. “Thanks for coming, everyone. If you read the brief I sent, you’ll know what this meeting is about, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. It’s time for the review. Starfleet wants to know how the ship is doing, so I’ll be needing each of you to hold a small meeting with your departments to go over your responsibilities for this review. It’s mainly to make sure officer and crewman training and supplies are up to scratch, and to ensure that the ship herself is in tip-top shape.

“Stark and R’han, since Konral is away with Captain Ghubari, I need the two of you to do his part of this. Make sure the tactical training of our security officers is adequate. Test their marksmanship and combat training. Same drill for any regular officer who has a level in tactical, although their requirements are less extreme. I also need you to track our stock of photon torpedoes and make sure we’ve got an adequate supply, along with making sure our shield generators are in good condition. I know the point of this time in dock is to make sure they’re in good condition but I’d prefer our own people check in on it.

“Sean and Ben, you’re in charge of making sure everyone is in tip-top shape mentally and physically. Get after anyone who hasn’t done their check-ins in a while. If it’s been more than 12 months since the last time you’ve seen a crewmember, now is the time to do so. Kaylee, if you would be so kind as to help them track down their patients, it would be appreciated.

“Ben, Orvos, and Liam, sorry Ben for giving you multiple jobs, you need to make sure your stock is full in each of your departments. Fill up on medical supplies, make sure our science equipment is fully functional, and make sure we have all the engineering extras you need. Orvos, I’d also like those in your department to check on the relays and things to make sure nothing’s in need of replacement before we leave for our mission.

“And everyone, make sure you work with your Junior Officers on this. I’d like to see some nice co-operation within your teams. We’ll meet up again when Ghubari and Konral return from their little holiday. That’s all I’ve got for today, so unless you want to stick around for a chat or have any questions, you’re free to head out.” Jennifer gave the group a small smile, then loosened her tight grip on the back of the chair she had been standing behind the whole time.

Wallace, XO

A deep throat clearing and a slightly raised green hand indicated the new Operations Chief wanted to say a word.

“Um, Ma’am? I just wanted to say that I created a supply matrix before my arrival a few days back. All Department Heads should have that in their messages. My apologies, but I did discuss that with the Captain when I checked in. I really should have sought you out as well… sorry for dropping that particular ball. Regardless, there is standardized requisition list for each department based on the past year’s worth of requests, and space for any secondary permanent equipment requests. Those requisitions will, once approved, go to both Fulfillment and Engineering so that they can prepare for any power or structural modifications as needed. Additionally, the standard department lists send alerts as supplies reach a minimum threshold. That threshold is set by item, not a standard baseline across the board.” He then turned to address the assembled officers as a whole.

“Please review each of your department’s lists and let me know of any changes you want or need. I have also pulled the past six months history of unfulfilled requisitions and am working on getting those addressed as soon as possible. If any of you need something that isn’t easy to justify for your needs, come see me. I speak requisition forms fluently, so I am happy to help. Unlike most of my fellow Operations and Supply officers, I don’t see my job as to say no. You know what you need, and I trust you to make sound decisions for your various departments.” and he smiled broadly. “But if you are asking for luxury party-barge, we may have to have a private discussion about priorities.”

Hammor, Ops

Benjamin listened to the woman’s request with mild interest, taking the occasional silent sip from his coffee. When the Operations chief started talking he turned his attention to him. When he finished he simply inclined his head with a grateful expression, having already had a discussion regarding that matter. “We’ll have all boarding and yearly check-ups done by the time we disembark” he said simply.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Stark turned to Hammor. “Not my usual area but am I to assume then that after every mission you’ll be stocking photons to our usual complement unless we ask for more?”

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Hammor looked at him and said “I’ve looked at the past 12 standard months of activity. This ship is slated to carry 350 casings: 145 of these are for photon torpedoes, 50 for quantum torpedoes, 5 are kept empty in reserve, 5 are Tricobalt devices, and a further 145 are for specialized probes. I’ve expanded the supplemental parts inventory to cover an additional 55 probe housings and another 25 quantum shells. If that needs to be expanded or changed, we can sit down and discuss it later today.”

Hammor, Ops

Jennifer looked at Hammor with a slight tilt of her head. “Ah, you seem to be partially defeating the purpose of this entire review,” she sighed. “Well, all the other points still stand,” she grinned sheepishly.

Wallace, XO

Stark smiled, “It’s going to take all of us a little bit to get used to having this guy do this job. I for one am happy he’s overseeing all this to free us up to do other tasks with more focus. For instance, now that we are in this significantly larger ship I think it’s about time security allowed me access to a portion of their roster to train them in Intelligence techniques. Much as it pains me to admit it, keeping the finger on the pulse has gone from being demanding to being next to impossible. Any thoughts?”

Stark Nightstalker CIO

“As long as it keeps you away from Sickbay bothering my patients I’m all for it” Benjamin said leaning back in his seat looking at the Intelligence chief.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“I wouldn’t mind some cross-department training, what would you have in mind?’ Konral asked, the idea of his team being able to flesh out more was appealing. He had more members of security than he ever had which left him with more team leaders than he had before to help maintain and control the roster. “We might even be able to get Delaney in with that, I know she wants some more duty in her job, could be a great chance to let her delta shift squadron a chance to shine and show her leadership skills since I gave her that posting.”

Vander, CoS

OOC: Vander, you’re not here. You’re on a trip with ghubari while this is taking place, if I’m not mistaken.

OOC: I was made aware after my post from my wife :P Carry on nothing to see just my uh… holo COS response system yeah… yeah that’s right

Steven Sigle

OOC Darn, Stark was going to jump all over that offer :-)
IC

Stark turned to the Doctor and mimicked pulling a dagger out of his chest. He then mimed handing it to the man, “Yours I believe, it says “twist to remove”“. Stark smiled, “In my defence however, it is an excellent place to catch up with people and tracking them down all over the ship is tiresome.”

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Benjamin gracefully accepted the non-existing dagger with a slight bow of his head and returned Stark’s smile “So it is, you’re free to stalk them from the Exit.” He said with an amused tone.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Stark chuckled, “Point taken, I’ll endeavour to escort them from sickbay rather than accosting them on the way in.” He raised an eyebrow, “I rather think you might miss me though so feel free to change your mind anytime. I promise not to crow”.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Jennifer chuckled. “Alright, if there isn’t anything else to discuss that is specifically related to this review, I’ll be heading out and taking the Conn. I’ll see you all around the ship,” she spoke.

Wallace, XO
