Karina had been about to leave when Nightstalker was called up. He deserved probably more than they could give him. But she hoped this was at least a good start. She sipped her drink and waited, patiently more or less, to be allowed to leave. This wasn’t her cup of tea and she was itching to leave. Even medical was preferred to public functions.

‘This is exactly what I’ve been looking for,’ Viyara thought to herself as a peaceful smile played across her face. She could feel her muscles relax as she stood there; realising dully that it was a good thing she was leaning against the bar. Though maybe sitting down would be even better. But she just couldn’t bring herself to clamber up onto one of the bar stools next to her. So she just leaned there, sipping her drink and feeling more and at ease with every passing moment. Of course she was vaguely aware that this would not last forever, but right now it felt good, right even. As if this drink was exactly what she needed. Too bad that she was only allowed to have one, though.

Marishka was satisfied that Viyara wasn’t going to have any of the more violent reactions this particular drink had been known to evoke but she couldn’t just leave the woman standing there. Marishka set her glass of champagne on the bar and walked around tot he other side to stand next to her. Viyara may not have even noticed her approach or felt her touch as Marishka guided her onto a bar stool. They were high, but with low backs. Quite comfortable for a barstool.

Viyara didn’t resist when Marishka helped her onto the bar stool, even though she wasn’t entirely sure she’d manage to stay on it on her own. This magical concoction was doing the most interesting things to her. And she hadn’t even finished half her drink yet.

“Careful dear. I wouldn’t want you turning into a puddle on our clean floor. Just relax. You’ll find the effect can linger for quite some time. But if you really need something, I’ll be here all night and I have a fully trained staff that’s always here to assist.”

Marishka was speaking in soft tones with her arm around Viyara’s mid back, leaning in quite close until she was certain the young woman at least had her balance.

  • Marishka

Instead of trying to make sure she’d keep her balance on her own now that she was sitting on the bar stool, Viyara leaned against Marishka. “The colours are so beautiful,” she mused as looked around. “But why are the bottles pulsating?” she ask, pointing with an outstretched finger at the bottles behind the bar.

Stark stood and moved to stand in front of his Captain. This was the last thing he had expected. He had been awaiting a thorough dressing down for his actions in the latest affair, especially his actions in the council chamber. Life was never short of surprises it seemed.

Marishka didn’t move, allowing Viyara to settle herself and adjust to the situation.

“Perhaps when you’re sober I will offer the scientific explanation. Right now, just enjoy the pulsing. It’s the way all the chemicals are reacting to one another.” she explained.

  • Marishka

“I like chemistry,” Viyara grinned, still not making any attempt at even trying to sit on her own. “I’ll remind you to tell me next time I come here.”

Marishka smiled and patted her shoulder.

“I’m certain you will me dear. Now… Make certain you finish it all before the drink turns clear again. Time varies from species to species and body temperature.” she explained.

  • Marishka

“Duly noted,” Viyara grinned and took another, larger sip of her drink. It really was amazing how everything seemed to fade away around after not even one drink. She didn’t even have to try to ignore the people and sounds around her. Everything seemed blissfully muffled. And at the same time none of those pesky memories were surfacing either. How marvellous!
