Janna gave Stark a tiny knowing nod. She had this. She wasn’t sure what she could or couldn’t do with the ball of light, but she didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention. Gently, she stuck her hand still holding the ball, into her pocket and hoped for the best.

Reaching out, Kingston rested her hand on Orvos’ arm, stopping him. She gestured with her head for them to step over to a quiet corner of the Promenade.

Orvos followed curiously.

Looking up at him, she searched his face intently. Everything was all weird know but she sought that strange moment of connection on the holodeck. “Do you trust me, Orvos?”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Orvos paused, keeping eye contact and hoping to sense her current mental state in whatever detail he could perceive. “Of course I do. Why?” he said slowly, obviously curious and anticipating a reply that would reveal much more than what he knew.

Stark went on high alert stepping back slightly to keep the two fo them in the wider perspective of all who were moving in the vicinity. He wanted to be ready if interference came their way.

“Because sometime in the next few minutes, Kivon will show up, abduct me and take me to the Nexus and try to finish whatever was started between you two. I have a way to trap him though,” Janna said. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the ball of light. “I don’t know how this works exactly but a reliable source told it would contain him.”

Bringing this forward

Orvos’s eyes went wide and he quickly put his hand over hers to cover the light. The realization of what may have happened was reeling in his mind. “Why would my former pilot do that? What business would he have with me?”

He shook his head and tried to find a more private corridor.

Kingston glanced at Stark but simply followed Orvos to more seclusion. “Something about your actions killing someone he loved? He seemed to think I was your wife and that that would be appropriate retribution…”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Stark took a position where he could watch all angles. Situations like this were fraught with the possibility of the unexpected and unfortunate. He took mental stock of where all his weapons were hidden. A part of him was wanting to be attacked, a part of him wanted the satisfaction of having a being’s life at his claw tips. Things had been so out of control for so long that he earnestly desired the contest of the dance of death so that he could either emerge in control or not emerge at all. He mentally berated himself for his selfishness, this was about Orvos, and Janna. He stuffed his feelings back to be dealt with at a later time and scanned the byways with murder in his eyes.

It took Orvos a solid moment of pacing and thinking before he realized that he would inevitably have to face Kivon someway. He turned to Janna. “Where is he?” asked Orvos in resolution. “When I go to find him, neither or you should be with me. He is likely dangerous if has anything to do with then Nexus right now.”

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Janna stared at him in disbelief but then remembered that this Orvos didn’t know what had transpired. She stepped up to him. “No,” she said firmly. “We did this already with you, we’re not doing it again.” Though he was much taller than her, no one could say that Janna didn’t have a presence., and she was certainly using it now. “Orvos… he abducted me, brought me into the Nexus and I found myself alone at first, and later around Borg.I’ve been abducted, tormented and terrified. I’m done with it. He’ll be showing up here on the Promenade in the next few minutes, but this thing, this light I was given is supposed to be able to contain him. I don’t know how it works, but Stark and I are as much a part of this as you are, so you’re just going to have to deal with the fact that I am staying.”

~Janna Kingston, Assistant CNS

Stark’s eyes blazed, “She speaks truth Orvos. We will stand with you because we cannot stand by and watch you fall, you of all people should know what that means”.

Orvos sighed. He was able to put the pieces together. Neither of them should have ever gotten so close to Orvos. He was here to ensure the safety of the crew of the Athena. Closeness to others only served to get them hurt because of him. Kivon was once his pilot, and he could see that the man blamed Orvos for the death of those on the El Aurian homeworld. He was young then, and full of emotion that got the best of him. And now, Janna and Stark had their lives on the line because of him. He remembered the light from the Nexus. It was an orb that allowed the user to bring themselves any point in time or space, or to negate the effects of another orb. Orvos had a feeling that Janna had somehow procured it to perform the latter. Why she hadn’t used it for herself was beyond him to understand at this point, but he was highly curious.

Orvos put his hand on hers that held the light. “Do you understand what this orb of light is capable of?” he asked.
