Janna stared at him in disbelief but then remembered that this Orvos didn’t know what had transpired. She stepped up to him. “No,” she said firmly. “We did this already with you, we’re not doing it again.” Though he was much taller than her, no one could say that Janna didn’t have a presence., and she was certainly using it now. “Orvos… he abducted me, brought me into the Nexus and I found myself alone at first, and later around Borg.I’ve been abducted, tormented and terrified. I’m done with it. He’ll be showing up here on the Promenade in the next few minutes, but this thing, this light I was given is supposed to be able to contain him. I don’t know how it works, but Stark and I are as much a part of this as you are, so you’re just going to have to deal with the fact that I am staying.”

Stark’s eyes blazed, “She speaks truth Orvos. We will stand with you because we cannot stand by and watch you fall, you of all people should know what that means”.

Orvos sighed. He was able to put the pieces together. Neither of them should have ever gotten so close to Orvos. He was here to ensure the safety of the crew of the Athena. Closeness to others only served to get them hurt because of him. Kivon was once his pilot, and he could see that the man blamed Orvos for the death of those on the El Aurian homeworld. He was young then, and full of emotion that got the best of him. And now, Janna and Stark had their lives on the line because of him. He remembered the light from the Nexus. It was an orb that allowed the user to bring themselves any point in time or space, or to negate the effects of another orb. Orvos had a feeling that Janna had somehow procured it to perform the latter. Why she hadn’t used it for herself was beyond him to understand at this point, but he was highly curious.

Orvos put his hand on hers that held the light. “Do you understand what this orb of light is capable of?” he asked.

Despite the urgency of the situation and the high stress she had been under, Janna allowed herself a piece of the tension to leave her body and let herself be soothed by his presence. She wanted that. She needed that. Janna shook her head. “Not fully, I’m sure. I was told that it would be able to stop Kivon from doing anything to hurt you and us, but that we would have to surprise him with it. Which is why we came back here, to this point in time.” She didn’t ask where their previous selves were and why they were able to fid Orvos alone. Her brain hated temporal mechanics and she had a feeling the Nexus cared nothing for them making sense of reality in any way.
