“I need a challenge. I get bored way too easy.” he replied with a smile. “If the job doesn’t keep me occupied and thinking, I end up hating it. I will never be one of those that can go to the same job, same place, same work, same everything day in and day out. That would be hell for me.” and he laughed. “And I do enjoy the creative solution part of my job a whole lot. Probably more than I should.” and he laughed again.

Janna pretending to dust off her arms and grinned at him. “Glad I’m get to keep my license. Being able to suss out people is kind of a necessary skill,” she said with a laugh.

“What’s the most extreme thing you’ve had to do in order to get your job done?” Kingston asked curiously.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Hammor cocked his head to the side and paused for a moment before asking “Which job, would be the question I would need you to answer first.”

Kingston chuckled. “Let’s go with Operations officer. Within the bounds of Starfleet, I’m curious what paths you’d take if you felt you needed to.”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Hammor rubbed his chin and thought for a moment. “Well… there was one time I ‘accidentally’ beamed three dozen Ardanian rats into the cargo hold of a ship that had the supplies we needed so that they had to clear all their cargo and store it in on the station cargo dock… which we promptly ‘redirected’ and secured in our bay.” and he chuckled. “I’m still waiting for their Ops section to try and pull something on me for that one. They had to stay over two weeks longer to fumigate the ship.” and he laughed.

Though she smirked, Janna didn’t laugh, though her keen eyes were searching for something. “Is that common?” she asked curiously. “I mean, I honestly have no idea what it really takes to manage the operational side of a starship, so I can’t really comment on any of it. I’m just curious f that level of high-jinx happens all the time and the rest of us have no idea,” she said, this time with a chuckle.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Daggum laughed and said “You would be amazed at how common it is. I honestly believe that if Ops officers didn’t lie, cheat, and steal… no ship would ever get deployed. You just have to be better at it than the others.” and he laughed again.

Bracing an elbow on the table and resting the side of her face in her hand, Janna slowly ate at her pie, most the ice cream having been devoured, leaving creamy puddles amongst the pastry and apples. “Okay, just to play devil’s advocate here, where does it end? I mean, if you have to take something from a crew to benefit yours, what about the other crew? What about the consequences for them?”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Hammor chuckled. “We all know better than do that with critical needs. So we aren’t leaving a Sickbay in the lurch with someone needing a special piece of equipment. But other things? Oh, thats all fair game. An dthe consequence is that the losing vessel will simply have to wait is all. The other safety net is that if it is an emergency, well, emergency requisitions are fabricated and sent direct. No middle man or stops.”
