OOC: Thanks for the bump, and sorry for the delay.

IC: “The rest of the scorpion’s kiss will do just fine,” he said with a confident grin. “I hope you can handle your liquor.” He then gestured to the glasses on the table.

“Feel free to pour the first round my dear! Lady’s choice as to who goes first.” He kept his eyes on her, his mind now focusing on the game rather than her alluring form.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka poured each glass to the top making them as equal as she could with a practiced ease. Smiling, she set the bottle down and sat back in her seat. Her silver eyes studied him for a few seconds.

“You called the game so I shall go first.”

She waited a few more seconds as if in deep thought. Her features settled before she spoke again.

“I have a brother. I have half sisters. I have no siblings. Which is the lie my Engineer?”

She spoke each truth, or lie, with equal weight and calmness.

  • Marishka

Orvos grinned and spoke confidently. “You have no siblings would be the lie, my dear.” He reclined in his seat, feeling quite sure of himself now. Perhaps now he would have the upper hand?

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka’s eyes never left Orvos’ face. She wanted to know how he had come to that conclusion but doubted he would reveal his secrets, she certainly wouldn’t, so why should she expect him to?

“You are correct. I have a younger brother and more half sisters than I care to count. Very intuitive of you.”

Reaching for her glass, she drank deeply and set it down next to Orvos’ glass. It would be easy for him to tell that she wasn’t cheating.

“And what of you? What truths and lies do you have to weave for me tonight?”

  • Marishka

OOC: I somehow let this slip through the cracks. My apologies!

IC: Orvos was satisfied with her answer and stored the knowledge mentally for future reference.

“I have plenty, my dear, but we will start with these. One: I’ve designed entire starships. Two: I’m an excellent cook. Three: I was once married.”

Orvos then poured a glass and set it down in the center of the table. “So?…”

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka truly enjoyed studying people so she took a few seconds to study the face of this man. Could he be her friend, her ally, something more perhaps? Even if they spent quite a bit of time at odds she knew she didn’t want him as an outright enemy.

“I’m guessing you can’t boil water without a replicator which you probably designed.” she said with a smile.

OOC: Thank you for finding this.

  • Marishka

OOC: My pleasure! :)

IC: He grinned. “Surprisingly correct, however, I most certainly know how to boil water. I just can’t promise the food that goes in it will come out as intended.” He then reached for the shot and downed it, the familiar burning sensation reminding him of a time when he used to run a bar, as brief as that was.

“Your turn, madam,” said Orvos as he set the glass down in front of them both, ready for whatever she might share.

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka took a few seconds. She could picture Orvos designing ships, fleets of them in fact, she could also picture him as a married man but, she couldn’t quite picture the woman that could hold his attention for more than a few heart beats. Were they alike or did opposites attract? It didn’t matter at the moment, it was her turn.

“I took this job because I needed a place to hide. I took this job because no-body else wanted it. I took this job because I was the only one it was offered to.” she stated calmly.

If Orvos knew his Captain, and Star Fleet, he would probably be able to deduce the answer quickly. Marishka was the wild card in all of this. Did she really need to hide in plain sight?

  • Marishka

Orvos grinned as thoughts almost instantly had the figurative ‘gears in his head’ turning. “Two are truths, one is a lie. It would make logical sense, that if you were the only one offered it , because nobody else was interested. But that wouldn’t be a very interesting story, and to be frank, I think there’s much more to you than accepting a job nobody wants. No, I think you’re trying to hide. And I think you were the only one it was offered to. Why, I’m not totally certain. But, that would be much more interesting. The lie is that nobody else wanted it. Plenty of people would love to run a lounge like this on a starship. It’s one of the more unique ones I’ve come across, much like the ‘owner’.”

“So…” he concluded. “Am I right?” he asked leaning forward to listen, his face with a smug grin on his face.

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka enjoyed this game because she could tell Orvos things about herself without actually telling him. Perhaps he would come away with a better understanding of her and they wouldn’t have to have some deep meaningful conversation. The last time she had undertaken a relationship like that it had ended in a very complicated way.

“You are correct. Who wouldn’t want to work here? I’ve come to enjoy my job very much. Some of the reasons are quite obvious and some of them I hold very close but, I should probably drink now.” she said pouring another shot and downing it quickly.
