Silence filled the comm between them and for a moment she just gazed at him before she broke into a small smile. =/\=You’re a smart man, Dag. I’m glad you felt the random need to reach out to me. I don’t think I’ve realized how much I’ve needed it.=/\= There were so many adjacent thoughts and questions, tangents of memories associated but none of them mattered right now. While she was only peripherally aware of it, Daggum Hammor was very slowly unravelling a tightly bound piece of Faye’s life. Previously, she would have frantically done almost anything to reweave that barrier. But right now, perhaps to her benefit and detriment, it was happening without her conscious awareness.

She exhaled. =/\=Well, I should probably go. I’m… glad we chatted again. And I’m glad I’ve been able to share my good news with you, despite all the rest of the craziness.=/\=

~Faye Calloway, Data specialist, USS Manhattan

Daggum smiled at her… a smile that conveyed more than any words he had so far said to her. =/\= Smartest thing I’ve done is call you. =/\= and he gave her a wink. =/\= Congratulations, Faye. Really… I’m super proud of you. And I am glad you are on the path you are on. I think you are going to do wonderful things, Faye. Both for the Manhattan… and for you. And I can’t wait to hear about them. Maybe in person, sometime… =/\= and he smiled again.

Hammor, Ops

She couldn’t help but match his smile. =/\=Yeah, easy peasy. Got a wormhole here and everything.=/\= Faye leaned in closer towards the screen, gazing into Dag’s eyes. =/\=Stay safe out there, okay?=/\= She still didn’t understand what all of this was. Did he? Maybe it didn’t need to be explained, or maybe it was a question of timing. Daggum Hammor had started something with a simple call and now that they had picked up that easy rapport they had with each other, Faye was loathe to let it go.

Daggum’s face moved closer to the screen and his demeanor shifted to something slightly more serious. She was so close, he could almost touch her. Without warning, the smell of her hair entered his mind. =/\= Oh, I will be. I have to be able to come see you. And Faye…? Nothing in this universe will keep me from seeing you again. That I can promise. =/\= and he smiled and winked =/\= You stay safe, too. I’d hate to come all that way only to have you running late because you are stuck in a nebula or something. =/\= and he laughed softly.

Faye seemed to freeze on the screen and Daggum would be forgiven if he though they were having connections issues (a real possibility after all). =/\=Yeah, that would suck,=/\= she finally answered with a lopsided grin.

=/\= I’ll talk to you soon, okay? I… I really miss you, Faye. =/\=

Hammor, Ops

Faye nodded. =/\=I wish you were here already.=/\= And then what? Like hell if she knew! =/\=Later,=/\= she whispered before cutting the call.

Daggum leaned back and grinned, wrapping his arms around himself and smiling at the now dark screen. He then took a breath and went to get something to eat… the smile still prominent on his face.

Hammor, Ops
