“Thank you, Hammor. That feels like the only thing that’s gone right today,” Jenn muttered, glancing down at her PaDD in annoyance as it beeped. She hit snooze on the alert it was sending her, then looked over at Orvos. “Think you can mix up one of those teas for me? I need something calming.”

Wallace, XO

Orvos was pulled slightly away from what Izanami was saying as he recognized the voice of the XO near him. “Ah, yes, in a jiffy!” he stated as he quickly brought over another cup of the same tea. “Do enjoy Commander.”

Yami fingered the scar on her face again as she watched the conversation unfold, she spared a glance for her sister in conversation with Orvos and looked slightly perturbed.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist.

Spotting the Admiral alone in one corner of the room and figuring she wouldn’t be missed, Viyara decided to walk over there and ignore the two twins for now as best as she could before that weird bound of jealousy got even stronger.

~Ensign Nazeen, Scientist

Benjamin nearly snorted in his glass at Yami’s question It took him a few minutes of quiet coughing and clearing his throat to get back his ability to speak. He turned to the Ops chief and smiled widely “Oh yes, what is your power compared to me or the Captain?” He’d never heard a question like that, who measured ranks as positions of power.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Hammor’s gem-like emerald eyes sparkled with amusement, but his face remained diplomatic. “What is my… power, you say…? Well, the Captain is in charge of the ship as whole. Everyone answers to her. The good doctor here is in charge of the health of the crew, but answers to the Captain. I am in charge of making sure all the systems within the ship are working as best as they can, and that everyone has the materials they need to be successful. So… Yami… you see it’s not so much about power or who is more important. It’s about how well we work together to accomplish the mission. The Doctor is the best one for the job if you get hurt and need help. I could put a dressing on and maybe keep you from bleeding out, but Doctor Grey can actually heal you. But if the inertial dampening fields are on the fritz, you might want to call me instead. While I’m sure the Doc here could keep us from imploding if the need arose, I’m probably better suited to handle the issue to completion.”

Hammor, Ops

While Orvos was fully aware that the COO would interact often with him, there was still a sense of…oh what was it…jealousy? No. He couldn’t pinpoint the exact feeling, but he knew that the future would likely entail some arguments at some point. He was the chief engineer, and the Athena was his baby girl.

Yami considered this looking from one man and then back to the other. “So you are saying that your power is increased when you combine it? This I understand… but surely you have a way of deciding who’s power is more virile at any given time”. Her eyes were curious.

Hammor chuckled. “Divided by discipline… job… and rank. Makes things pretty clear. Sometimes we get it a bit clouded, but then we rely on mutual trust. I trust the Doc here to patch me up if I get hurt. He trusts me to keep the lights on. Teamwork… thats how we get it done.”

Hammor, Ops Chief

Yami looked at her sister who had been uncharacteristically silent, “Teamwork, I understand but for my people we have a long history of competing for power. It is something that is hard to see past at times”.

Orvos, by this point, had returned his attention to Izanami.

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Izanami had finally found her voice and whispered to Orvos. “I know of your race, you have much to offer and your connection to Athena is stronger somehow because of it”.

For the moment, Izzy decided to head to the party. She didn’t want to spend all her time on a vacation planet at a bar, but since it was supposed to be the beginning sort of event for the trip, she might as well. In her mind were a myriad of things she could do on the planet. She could go to performances by actual live dance companies, plays with an actual traveling acting troupe, or attend concerts. She could go hiking and camping, maybe find a cabin in the mountains and ski. She could laze on the beach with barely a thing on and a fruity fancy drink in her hand listening to waves and feeling the heat and sand on her skin.

The possibilities were endless and she was here to celebrate. From the adrenaline junky on down to a night club dancer, they had advertised a blurring amount of options. She walked up to the bar at the party. “Vodka martini extra olives.”
