Hammor still couldn’t believe that his first interaction with the new XO was tripping so she fell on her hands and knees in front of the crew in the lounge. He had been wholly embarrassed… even if his first view of her had not been forgotten by the big Orion.

So, welcome gift in hand, the Operations Chief made his way to her office and pressed the chime, waiting to make her acquaintance in a less compromising fashion.

Hammor, Ops Chief

Tello was standing on top of her desk when the chime sounded. In the middle of attaching an charged energy crystal to the ceiling above her workstation, she didn’t even turn to see who it was. “Come in!”

—Anaar, XO

Hammor stepped into the room, looking down as he did to avoid hitting his head going through the door, and looked up as his long stride moved him into the room…

And face-to-aft section of the new XO.

Hammors eyes widened in surprise, and he quickly cleared his throat. “Commander. Have to say… we should probably stop meeting like this. People will talk.” he said as he not-so-swiftly averted his gaze to the now very interesting crate by the window.

Hammor, Ops Chief

She looked over her shoulder. “Oh, its you. Come to trip me again?” The comment was made in good fun, she wasn’t holding a grudge against the Orion, just wanted to razz him a little. “I just need to make sure this crystal stays up here. I don’t want it to fall and conk me on the head while I’m working.” Arms above her head and standing on tippy toe, the uniform stretched over her curves snuggly.

===Anaar, XO

Hammor turned his head without thinking, then closed his eyes and shook his head slightly before adjusting his eye’s direction from the Commander’s… ‘in your face’ anatomy, and then looked at the crystal and said “Well then perhaps the Commander could step down from her pedestal and let an Engineer do that? That would probably save us both some time and further… yeah. Time.” and he held out an hand to help her down and one for the crystal.

Hammor, Ops

Not an engineer, Tello was just free handing the hanging procedure for the crystal. It was something she always had over her work surface ever since it had been given to her. A sudden electrical shock sparked at the end of her finger and she was frozen in a spasm that lasted less than a millisecond. When the muscles of her body all relaxed at the same time, she began to lose her balance. Arms spinning wildly, the only thing that stopped her from falling was Hammor’s hand on her backside.

It was reflex, nothing else. He heard the soft pop and knew exactly what it was, saw her tense and start to sway, and he just reached to brace her… and without realizing it placed his big green hand solidly on her right butt cheek. His eyes widened slightly the touch… and then as the realization hit him, but then came the inevitable crumple and Daggum held out his arms.

On the heels of that extremely familiar touch, Anaar was physically and mentally shot with a concentrated emotion of lust—not her own, but the big Orion’s—her unique way of sharing her father’s Betazoid blood. It only furthered the lack of balance on the desk and she crumpled, falling directly into Hammor’s outstretched arms.

—Anaar, XO

Hammor tossed the small box in his hnd next to the desk and lowered the XO to the floor. “Commander. Commnader! You okay? You need Medical? C’mon… look at me.” and he snapped his fingers in front of her face to get her to focus. “Look at me. How many fingers?” and he held up three digits in front of her face.

Hammor, Ops

Although Tello felt herself being caught and lowered to the floor, it seemed to be happening to someone else. The all consuming emotion that ran through her body and mind was lust, and because of the shock, she didn’t have the wherewithal to fight it. Anaar pushed the big, green, hand out of the way as her body rose up to meet the Orion’s. Without any hesitation, Tello kissed the COO deeply, pressing her figure against him as she responded to the man’s emotions.

—Anaar, XO

Hammor was momentarily stunned and didn’t know how to react as their lips met. But after a second, he put his hands on her shoulders and pushed her away from him and shook her slightly. “Commander! Snap out of it!” and another shake. He kept his hands on her shoulders, both to support her and to keep her from coming in for a second run at him. Whatever had happened to her, he had to admit this was without a doubt the most unorthodox and memorable check in he had ever done.

Hammor, Ops

The dazed looked in the first officer’s eyes cleared and realization of what happened set in. She jerked away from Hammor so fast she lost her balance and wound up sitting on her backside, but bounced up and away from him as fast as she could. “Oh my God! Oh God! Jeez! What’s wrong with you?” And although she’d asked the question out loud, it wasn’t clear which one of them she was talking to.

Hammor didn’t respond, he just slowly rose to his feet and watched her pace back and forth, the distress in her words more than evident.

After pacing the room, Tello finally turned to the COO and sighed while shaking her head. “You’re going to be a problem for me, aren’t you?”

—Anaar, XO

Hammor’s face showed concern, confusion… and perhaps a touch of amusement. My career may be over, but what a way to go out. he thought to himself.

“I really hope not, Commander. And I sincerely apologize for anything that I may have done to… well… help this encounter along it’s previous path. I was just trying to keep you from falling off your desk.” As he spoke, he slowly moved to the desk and picked up the crystal. Reaching up, he moved his eyes from her to the ceiling and deftly attached the crystal to the fixture in under half a minute. As he worked, he kept his eyes on the ceiling… although the effect from the encounter on the floor was evident in his ‘posture’.

When he was done, he looked back at the XO and said “There you go, Ma’am. Maybe it would be best if I came back another time.” he said slightly awkwardly. “And maybe call ahead first so as not to… well… interrupt you.” and he took a small step towards the door.

Hammor, Ops

Tello looked him up and down. “Ummm…you might want to wait a minute…” She made a general gesture toward his pants. “Not sure you want any of the crew to see you like that.”

Hammor looked confused for a moment and then his green face went a few shades darker and he quickly turned around. “By all the gods above… Commander… I… f^%$!”

She was wise enough to avert her own eyes, all the while wondering if the situation could possible get any more uncomfortable. “Listen…I want to explain…”

Would he give her a chance or would he be embarrassed enough to simply walk out with his hands placed strategically over his lap?

—Anaar, XO

Hammor made some fairly quick adjustments and then turned slowly back around, his face still dark green a chagrined look on his face. “Ma’am.. no need.” he said, his eyes cast at the floor. “We can just chalk it up to a shock and… shock… and that’s it.” and he waved his hand like he was trying to swat away the embarrassment. But he didn’t move to door. She said she wanted to explain, it was the least he could do to hear her out. Besides, better to get my demotion and transfer to a tug somewhere near Andor out of the way now. Dammit, I hate the cold. he thought.

Hammor, Ops

“Look, I’m very sorry about all this.” Tello waived a hand back and forth between the two of them. “This is so embarrassing, but I swear to you there is an explanation for my behavior.”

She was so concerned about her reaction to the unexpected bombardment of desire from Hammor, she didn’t even consider he might be worried about his own reaction. “My mother was human but my father is Betazoid so my telepathic inheritance isn’t what you would normally expect to find.” As she spoke, Anaar opened the bottom drawer of her desk and pulled out a bottle and two glasses. She poured two fingers of a pale blue liquid in each glass. “It’s Smooth Juice, at least that’s what Bernie calls it. I took it from the shuttle I arrived in, a private one. His—he won’t mind.”

Hammor took a seat… slowly… and then said “Right now, a drink may not be a bad idea.”

Not wanting to risk physical contact with the Oion again, she pushed his glass across the surface of the desk. “Go ahead, I won’t tell anyone and it will make the situation easier to talk about.” Tello swallowed half the liquid in a single gulp.

Hammor raised his glass to her and said “To awkward beginnings…” and threw back the contents.

“Anyway, I can’t read other people’s emotions on command. Instead, I go along like a person without telepathy but every once in a while, I’ll receive an onslaught of strong emotions, unbidden and unwanted. Sometimes, the feeling is so strong I act on it before I have a chance to stop myself.” Her gaze dipped down to the desk and away from Hammor’s emerald gaze. “That’s what happened a few minutes ago. I picked up on your desire and succumbed to it.”

—Anaar, XO

Hammor looked at her and said “Ma’am… Commander… first let me apologize. I never meant to… well… ok… I never meant to stare at and grab your ass, or for you to feel overwhelmed by my… momentary lapse in professionalism.” and he held his hands out and shrugged. “Circumstances were what they were, and some s$#t happened. Let’s call it a draw and maybe start over?” He bent over and picked up the small white box off the floor and set it on the desk, then slid it over to Tello.

She looked at him with raised brows. That was the easiest anyone had ever accepted the explanation about her skewed abilities. Perhaps he didn’t really believe her and was just agreeing to hurry the ending of the meeting.

“A small welcome aboard present, Ma’am. And when you are ready, we can go over where the ship is at from an operational standpoint.” Hammor was looking directly at her, but he was forcing himself to be professional and not think about… well… other things.

Hammor, Ops Chief

Tello decided to let him set the tone for the rest of the meeting. With a swift movement, she tossed back the rest of the drink and reached for the small box. “You still want me to have this even after my bad behavior?”

—Anaar, XO

Hammor looked at her and said “I don’t know what you are talking about, Commander. ” flatly. He motioned for her to open the box.

Inside was a small deep red glass bottle, about the size of a perfume bottle. “Its Kradanian incense. Activates when it comes in contact with air. Sometimes the air can get… repetitive. This should make for a nice change every now and then.”

Hammor, Ops

Tello felt less embarrassed now that they were addressing and agreeing to ignore what had happened. “Thank you, that’s very thoughtful. I’m sure I’ll use it all the time.” As if to demonstrate, she uncapped it and was immediately breathing in a soft but spicy scent. “Oh yes…all the time.” She set the open bottle on her desk so the aroma could move around the room. “Once again, I apologize for…earlier. I’ll try to keep myself in check when you’re around. It might never happen again, but I can’t guarantee that.”

—Anaar, XO

Hammor looked at her intently for a few moments and then said “What can I do to help out with that? I mean… you are a great kisser, Commander -” and he gave her a slight smile and a wink, “- but I usually at least have a meal or two with my new Executive Officer before making out with her on her office floor.” He was, of course, joking (except maybe for the great kisser part), but he decided making a joke about it may help remove the overall… tension… in the room.

Hammor, Ops

“Umm…hmmm.” Glad he was letting her off the hook, Tello wasn’t quite sure how to respond. “How about we have a meal once I’ve had a few days to settle in?” Yes he was attractive and yes, she had liked his emotions concerning her and the kiss, but how much of it was of her own doing and how much of it was his Orion pheromones? Best to leave it open ended and see what happened. She didn’t want a shaky start to her assignment on the Athena.

—Anaar, XO

“Sounds like a plan, Commander.” and he stood up. “Can I shake your hand? Or should we leave off with contact till things… well… settle down a bit for you?” he asked offering his hand but not forcing the courtesy.

Hammor, Ops

Nice of him to ask. Tello had automatically reached out to shake, but snapped her arm back before there was contact. “Let’s skip it, just in case. Why don’t you contact me in a couple of days and we can set up a time?” If he doesn’t get with me for dinner, I’ll totally understand and won’t hold it against him.

—Anaar, XO

Hammor nodded in understanding and dropped his hand. “Tell you what. Night after tomorrow. We’ll meet in the Lounge at 8. We can go over ship operations and any concerns you have at that time. Hopefully by then we’ll both be a little less… tense. That work for you, Commander?”

Hammor, Ops

“Sure, sounds good. Eight it is—see you then.” She would add the meeting to her calendar as soon as he left.

—Anaar, XO

Hammor nodded and said “Enjoy the incense, Ma’am. See you at dinner.” and he nodded once and moved to the door. He looked back over his shoulder and said “Gotta say, Commander… you’re a good kisser.” and he smiled a friendly smile and laughed softly. The door slid open and he said “Have a good day, Ma’am. Welcome aboard.” and turned and walked out, letting the door slide closed behind him.

Hammor, Ops

After the doors closed, Tello let out a deep breath and rolled her shoulders. Why had that happened just now? She’d tried to find some kind of pattern to the times she’d been drenched with a waterfall of someone else’s emotions, but it didn’t seem there was one. But Hammor? She’d embarrassed herself TWICE with him! She shook her head and plopped into the desk chair. “I’m sure he has a really good impression of you so far…” Wondering if she could find a way to get out of their dinner meeting in the next 24 hours, the first officer sat quietly and thought hard and long.
