After seeing Hammor, Janna stopped by her office to grab her shoulder bag and a few items she thought might be useful. She checked in with her staff and Cherry, the Risian receptionist and left further instructions about rescheduling appointments but also making sure Janna had back-up on standby if needed.

Arriving a few minutes later, Kingston stepped into Sickbay 1 and, after a quick look around, saw that Ben wasn’t there, so went to check his office. He would have received the notification about her invoking a Code 283and initiating crisis intervention protocols, but it was a good idea for them to talk face-to-face for a minute. Knocking on the window, she poked her head in. “Hey Ben, got a minute before I have to head back to my patient?”

Benjamin was seated behind his desk reading over a few reports on his computer enjoying a cup of tea when the Counselor arrived, he knew she had entered before she’d knocked on the door but as always he decided against looking up in advance. He smiled at the woman and indicated to a seat “Of course, Janna, have a seat” He moved the chair backward and grabbed his clay mug marked with the Starfleet Medical symbol, he nodded to a metallic kettle on a coffee table next to his desk “Tea?” He offered.

“Nah, it’s okay. I have coffee back on the holodeck waiting for me. But thank you,” Janna said as she took a seat.

“So… as you know I’ve initiated intervention protocols with Ensign Nazeen. I would classify her status as stable currently, but you and I both know how quickly that can change when someone is in crisis. So, there’s a couple things I was hoping you can do for me, besides be backup if I need it.”

Kingston considered all she knew so far. “I’m going to hold her for a couple days, a third if necessary, while I complete a clinical evaluation and give her some immediate tools for coping with significant past trauma. I don’t know how she’ll sleep tonight and though the risk is low, I’d like to have a sedative on hand if things spiral at all. So that’s one. The other is that I would like her to have a new physical complete, despite having a boarding one recently, to rule out anything physiological. It would also be useful to have the neuro reading and neurotransmitter levels noted so we can discuss medication if its indicated.”

Benjamin listened intently occasionally taking sips from his cup of tea. Mentally he brought up the Trill’s medical file in his head and read as he listened as well as the conversation they had during her boarding, an interesting woman. He had been fairly surprised that such measures had been taken and that Nazeen had taken the first steps, it was a good sign. When Kingston finished speaking Benjamin lowered his cup and stopped his mental reading. “Well I can approve a vial of Kayolane or Melorazine for your use, just have one of the Nurses give you a hypo.” He started “I’ll leave it to your judgment which one you’ll think necessary. The additional physical is no problem but it might be good for you to be present during that examination”

Dr. Grey - CMO

Both drugs were effective and fast acting, so it really was a toss-up. “Let’s go with the melorazine. It’s a tiny bit less groggy than the kayolane,” Kingston said with a nod, more to herself than anything. “As for the physical, for sure. I actually was debating the best time and place for it. Would it be possible to do one while we’re on the holodeck? We have a nice little cottage set-up going on in a program of her choosing, so I think her anxiety levels would be lower there, and then I can continue my work afterwards without changing locations.”

Benjamin nodded “That’s doable, I’d have to bring over some of my own equipment but the Holodeck can provide decent enough medical scanners” It wasn’t exactly standard but he knew the limitations of Holographic medical equipment and it had progressed incredibly in the last twenty years. “When would you want this examination to take place?

Dr. Grey - CMO

“I was thinking tomorrow, maybe early afternoon? Unless before lunch is a better time for the exam?” Janna said. “But I have something planned for the morning, but anytime after that should be fine. Why don’t I give you a call after we’re done with my first plan and we can take it from there?”
