The body of the intruder materialized successfully on a biobed in the middle of the main sickbay. As the biobed’s sensors kicked in alarms began to sound as it reported that the patient was on the verge of a heart attack from stress to the body.

Jennifer rushed into Sickbay and her old CMO brain activated. She read off the current emergency and knew what to do. “Ten CCs of lectrazine, stat!” she called out to the nurses on duty. The commonly used drug was good for almost every species out there - if it had a heart, lectrazine would help. “Help me determine the status of the patient,” she requested of her CMO, while also reading the display on the biobed and trying to calculate what was wrong with the man so that they could keep him alive. Intruder or not, he was now a patient.

She also grabbed a sheet and threw it over the patient’s lower body to preserve his decency.

Karina, a mere step behind the CO, turned right just inside the door and grabbed the lectrazine. Bringing the hypo with her, she quickly dosed the man based on the stats showing over the biobed, “Please work,” she whispered a small prayer as she pressed the button to initiate it. Setting it aside, she adjusted the blanket a bit neater and went about the usual check up to see how he was. Blood was drawn, vitals noted from the headboard on the bed, and everything was recorded in case they needed it later. It was then that she remembered someone mentioning wings on his ankles. Moving to the foot of the bed, she lifted the sheet cautiously and made sure the wings weren’t crushed or otherwise in jeopardy from the way he was laying. If so, she knew a rolled up blanket behind and below his calves would lift up his feet without putting the wings, or his circulation, in jeopardy.

The whole time, she remained silent and awaited further order from the Captain or The Doc.

His stats were no longer dropping but they weren’t good either. Further tests showed extreme exhaustion, lack of energy and malformed blood cells due to low B12. Obviously he had been dropping in health for a long time.

Jennifer grabbed a B12 hypospray and pressed it to the patient’s neck, injecting the vital nutrient, then began to gather further nutrient cocktails. If they could get him properly stable, then his body should be able to do the rest.

The man gave a low moan but remained in an unconscious state. Readings continued to flood in from the biobed. He was humanoid at the genetic level but his frontal lobe had some minor differences, as did his nervous system. Further investigation would be necessary to find out precisely what those differences were.

Being mostly human helped. It meant that their usual drugs and treatments should work well. “Doctor Niles,” Jenn turned to the young Doctor, realizing that she shouldn’t be taking over Sickbay. Her time as a CMO was over, and she really should be delegating, “Work with your team to stabilize him. Wake him up, even, if you can. I’m going to call up to the bridge and see if they’ve found out anything.”

With that, Jenn stepped back from the Biobed and let Karina and the nurses take over. She tapped her comm-badge with a finger and spoke. “Captain to the Bridge. We’ve got the patient/intruder partially stabilized. He’s been struggling to survive for a long time. Any updates from your end?”

Wallace, CO

With the assistance of the biobed readings, Karina gave the visitor the nutrients he needed. She then picked up the scanner and began to get a more detailed scan of the man. Feet to head, she scanned him thoroughly and checked for injuries and any other markers that would help indicate who or what he was.

The doctor glanced up now and again to the Captain. The woman needed a break. Yet at every turn there was something more. Realizing her thoughts were bordering on places she shouldn’t go, she looked back at the man and waited for the scans to show her something useful.

As the deeper scans started to piece together this man’s modus operandi it became more and more clear that he was somehow capable of channeling energy directly through his nervous system and the reason for his tragic state could be attributed to the fact that he had used that ability to the point that every cell in his body was at near null energy meaning that only his brain and heart were functioning in any capacity and they wouldn’t be for much longer if he wasn’t somehow energised at the cellular level, and soon.

Energy..... Karina thought for a moment.

“Captain, we need a way to energize him. It is as if he were a battery of some kind and near depletion. I’m not sure something like a slow trickle from the life support system would help, though. Do you have any ideas?” They used electricity to shock hearts to get them to restart. Could the power be modified to merely trickle in a stream versus a single momentary jolt?

While she waited for the Captain to answer, she fingered through the commands on the bed overhead. Surely there was ‘something’ that would allow for a slow release of power in some capacity. Too large a jolt may damage him, but surely…

Karina bit her lip absently as she went through the command programs.

The command programs were set to normal humanoid life forms but there were subheadings for all the different races they had encountered. Suddenly the monitor flickered slightly and the young man twitched in his comatose state.

Jennifer came back from her comms call and listened to the problem. “I’ve heard of a way of energizing cells using certain wavelengths of radiation,” she replied thoughtfully. She stepped over to look over Karina’s shoulder at the command programs, then jumped slightly with surprise as the man seemed active for a moment. She stared at him for a few moments, watching for further activity. She ran over to a console. “Computer, do we have the capacity to Macguyver a polaric particle emitter?”

Wallace, CO

Karina had startled as well and then let a nervous giggle slip from her lips as they both recovered. When the Captain mentioned the emitter, she stepped to the other side of the table to let the woman have space. “I’m not sure what that is, but it sounds like it would work.” She had never heard the Macguyvering comment was about. But a particle emitter may be the key.

“I had been thinking a low level charge like what we use to kick start hearts. But lower frequency and steady instead of a harsh pulse.”
