Stark took a sip of his drink and continued, “I later found that this sentient silicon sword, “Skotos” was one of seven imbued with a single purpose, to symbiotically bond with other beings and repair a rip in reality by sacrificing their mass. You bond with one by stabbing yourself through the heart… that hurt”. He smiled, “My eyes turned black on that day and stayed that way until we took down the people who had created the rip. I thought it was all over until 6 months ago when my eyes turned black again and I started to hear a familiar voice calling to me…”

She leaned forward, elbows on the table. “Wait…you realize that isn’t nearly enough detail, right? Like…where are the other swords, why would you stab yourself with it, how did you heal, do you still have Skotos, what happened to the tear, how did you sacrifice your mass if you are still hear…and several other questions.” Tello raised her auburn brows inviting Nightstalker to continue with the story.

He snorted a little, “Yes, my fault for summing up five years in a paragraph.” He tapped his chin with a claw. “The swords gave their mass not ours, the symbiosis ended when the tear was repaired and as to the healing Skotos healed me as she became one with me. The swords are back waiting to be claimed again because the forces that created the tear have intentionally made another one”.

He made a fist and looked intent. Slowly a black mass oozed out of the pores of his paw pad and started to form a black edge. He relaxed and the silicon being returned to Stark’s body. Stark’s eyes were serious, “Our last mission was in the mirror dimension, Skotos called to me from there and we bonded anew. You see, the tear here was repaired, but, not in the mirror realm. There is still work to be done”.

In truth, it was still a far too simple explanation for Anaar to understand the big picture. “I’ve never had dealings with a mirror universe before, but the stories I’ve heard run the gamut. Some are truly frightening and others are more adventurous and entertaining.” She stopped to consider what an alternate of herself might be…

“Can you…I’m not sure how to phrase this…summon Skotos whenever you need to?”

—Anaar, XO

“Not really,’ he smiled mysteriously “but she does respond to any danger I might be in, and…” He left it hanging for a brief second, “She does seem to appear when she feels someone worthy is near”. He stopped to let that sink in.

OOC Finally have the energy for “Seven Sentient Swords: Side Sim Sequel”.

Did he mean her? Skotos thought she was worthy? High praise, indeed. Tello was secure in her decision for Nightstalker to be her Watcher. “So, you will eventually return to the mirror universe and heal the tear there?” More coffee as she studied the male across the table. “How will you find it?”

—Anaar, XO

“We had help from a rather annoyingly enigmatic man who called himself “Emrys” who we later found out was also known by many other names including Merlin of Arthur’s Court. He led us through time to pull the swords from their various hiding places. Once that was accomplished we met the enemy in battle, vanquished them and the swords used their matrices to mend the tear. He hasn’t made an appearance yet but I’m relatively sure he will, Q has the tendency to always be where he’s not welcome. I mean, to be honest, it’s his fault that the tear formed in the first place… hence the necessity for him to be instrumental in clearing the blasted thing up.”

OOC I’m having major fits of nostalgia remembering this stuff :-) It’s what led me into being a GM after all. Sorry all, in current life circumstances some of these memories seem even more poignant.

OOC: This is good as it will give me some history of that story line. I also left a not in the current thread that I would like Tellos to join the ‘chosen’ if that’s possible?
OOC Absolutely, left you a note on the other thread to insert yourself into the action :-)

Her dark brows shot up. “A Q? You’ve met a real Q? That’s amazing!” She tried to recall very quickly everything she’d ever heard about them. “They are Gods, aren’t they?” Filled with excitement, she studied Nightstalker across the table. “Why do you say it was his fault the tear opened in the first place?”

Stark rolled his eyes slightly, “I think you’ll find Q underwhelming and annoying. We actually first met when I was seven. I bit him, then asked him to kill me and the blighter couldn’t even do that right, but that’s a story for another time. The tear was created by an experiment he tried to recreate matter in his own image. He broke the laws of the Universe and came close to unravelling everything in the process but every action produces a reaction and the seven sentient silicon swords were the reaction the Universe set in motion to counter his stupidity. Unfortunately they appeared throughout time and space and over the eons a cult formed dedicated to collecting them for themselves and harnessing their power. We had to fight our way through them at every turn to win the day. You name it, we faced it, right down to fire breathing dragons…” Stark smiled, “Good times”.

”…fire breathing dragons? You’re having me on…aren’t you?” She stared into his dark eyes. “You’re serious!” How was it possible? “I don’t actually know how to respond. That story is bigger than any other I’ve ever heard and the repercussions of it not working out right…it sounds like Q nearly destroyed our reality.” She contemplated that kind of power and the ego that had to accompany it. When she came back to the moment and the Caitian across the table, her eyes were unfathomable. Too many emotions needed to be sorted out.

“I would have liked to have been there with you all, fighting the good fight.”

Stark smiled, “I think you’ll get that chance. I don’t tell this story to many for obvious reasons. The fact that I told it to you is because Skotos told me to and she’s a pretty canny judge of character. She knows her siblings well and she knows those who are up for something this important. When the call comes upon you, and it will, find me and we’ll step into the next adventure together”.

For a moment, she couldn’t tell if he was having her on or not, but staring hard into his dark eyes, she eventually believed he was referring to something real. Tello gave him a single nod, a promise that if the time did come (and she hoped it would) she would find him and join him in whatever was to come.

Marishka was making her usual rounds. Walking by she glanced at the state of their drinks and raised a discreet eyebrow before passing by.

  • Marishka

Sensing that they had covered a lot of ground and that Tello might need a moment to digest what she’d heard Stark nodded assent to Marishka, asking her to fill their drinks anew.
