“Their simplicity. It’s rarely appreciated as most people enjoy the displays or scents, rather than the deeper details.” Liam said quietly, his eyes fixed on a patch of flowers not far from his location.

He shifted uncomfortably in the casual setting as he preferred something to distract him. It was easy to speak in a lab and never pay much attention to his words. Now, they felt unsteady and hesitated in his ears. As if sensing his discomfort, the ‘muscles’ on his trapezoid shifted a bit. He moved his hand to scratch an imaginary itch on his neck in hopes to distracted him from the creature’s restlessness.

“It’s a big ship. It’s nice to find a place where you can hide away, so to speak. No one to ask questions of you, demand anything, hold you to any standard. Hell, in the right place, a person could even relieve themselves of their own expectations,” Janna remarked with a smile, gazing up and over at the taller shrubs and trees around them. It was remarkable and still always awed her a little that they could build such green spaces on a starship.

“Unfortunately I’m neverly completely alone. Not anymore.” Liam uttered quietly referring to his hitchhiker.

While the mission in the Mirrorverse had given him a different perspective, he still couldn’t let go of his negativity toward the thing. It was never chosen and he hated that.

“I find more comfort in achieving something than simply idling in place. Something about is more comfortable and ripples off to affect other things.” He floundered on what else to say as he retracted back, letting his weak attempt for conversation fade into silence.

“Keeping busy means you don’t have to stop and think about things more deeply, but it also means that you never actually deal with the issues at hand. Sometimes we need a measure of discomfort in order to move forward,” Janna said quietly, their peaceful surroundings continuing to make her relaxed. “Would you say you’re stuck, Liam?”
