SNIP

The biobed showed absolutely no energy transfer from the Polaric particles but strangely the cells themselves started to respond to a cause as yet unknown. The biobed reading flickered again and, as the cells went from critical to low energy levels, two startling blue eyes opened.

“You have saved me” the voice was croaky and lasted only a moment before the patient passed out again, unconscious but now seemingly out of danger.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

=^=I don’t have a lot of information, but science reports the likely point of origin is the Mirror Dimension…=^=

R’han

=^=Thanks for the update, bridge,=^= Wallace commed back, then looked at Karina with a slightly confused expression on her face. “The mirror dimension?” She asked, tilting her head.

Knowledge of things like the Mirror Dimension wasn’t widely distributed, and Wallace had never had reason to be filled in on it.

Wallace, CO

Karina had been looking at the man as he opened his eyes. The blue had been so striking and startling, she had almost not realized he had spoke. When those deep pools closed once more, she bit her lip. When Wallace spoke to her, it took her a second to respond. “Sorry, what? Mirror Dimension. I don’t know it. But if it’s what it sounds like, sounds like a place that’s a duplicate of our dimension.” She looked back down at the one on the bed and sighed. “But why is he here? And how?” She couldn’t get his eyes out of her mind. Pulling the blanket up a bit and almost tenderly making sure he was comfortable, Karina suddenly shook her head and looked back at Wallace with a bright shade of red blossoming on her cheeks. She had just realized her reaction to the alien and was more than a little embarrassed by it. You’ve been alone too long, Rin. You are finding men where you shouldn’t be looking. She abmonished herself as she waited for the berating she had missed something vital while lost in a fantasy.

“Sorry, Captain,” she murmured once more by way of an apology.

Karina
Doctor
(a little smitten? Ya think?)

The computer suddenly spoke into life. =/\= File entry found, need Captain’s access code to access=/\=

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

The crew had been through this before. “Lets activate the internal scans of the crew. I want to rule out any other Mirror individuals on the ship.”

R’han

OOC: Whoops wrong location.

The idea the computer had answers made a bit of tension in Karina loosen up. At R’han’s mention of others being mirrors on the ship, she shivered. It was one thing to have a guest, it was another idea entirely, to think of someone on the ship not being part of ‘this’ crew.

Waiting for the Captain to activate the computer, she once more made sure their guest was comfortable and stepped off to one of the nearby walls to the replicator to get him a glass of water. He would wake up again and hopefully have the strength to answer some questions. And it seemed something productive to do. Without realize it, Karina started absently humming.

Karina
Doctor

“Computer, open file entry and summarize out loud. Please also send to my data PaDD for reading, authorization Wallace four-one-seven-delta.” The Captain turned to R’han, giving him a small frown. “You know what you’re looking for in the scans of whatever you’re talking about, so please do so.” There was clearly something going on that she didn’t quite understand, and she planned to get to the bottom of it. As well as getting her hands on every piece of records from the ship’s last few years that she could. Jennifer had realized that this vessel had been through a lot of adventures that she wasn’t aware of, and that left her at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the crew. That wouldn’t do.

The computer intoned its message. “Subject shares medical similarities with being named Apollo encountered In 2267 by the USS Enterprise on Pollux IV. Apollo attempted to make the crew of the Enterprise worship him, but his plan was ultimately defeated by Captain James T. Kirk. Full file available on request from Starfleet Command.

Seconds later with a low groan the young man stirred and the wings on his ankles fluttered slightly. Slowly his eyes opened and in a stronger mellifluous voice he spoke. “Where in the seven heavens am I?”

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

The stranger had awoken. Jennifer stepped over to the sickbed and looked at him with a curious expression. “You are aboard the Starship U.S.S. Athena, within our sickbay. Do you have any memory of how you came aboard?” she asked, in a voice she hoped was kind but firm.

Wallace, CO

He clutched his head and his deep blue eyes squinted with pain, “I focused on home, I don’t know how I came to be here instead of there…”

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“And where is home?” Jennifer asked, frowning slightly as she processed the information that had been revealed moments before the man’s awakening.

Wallace, CO

“Olympia” he said with a puzzled look, “But specifically I was trying to find my sister, Athena”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“I mean, I should have expected that answer,” Jennifer spoke under her breath. Of course, olympian god from greek mythology. It made sense. She smiled. “Well, this ship is called the Athena, so perhaps you got a little mixed up,” she reasoned.

Wallace, CO

Karina smiled. Of course… she thought to herself. Leave it to her to find the hottest guy in the galaxy is literally a god and doesn’t belong here. She sighed and settled for shifting the covering to make him more comfortable. She had a glass of water nearby in case he asked. But for now, she remained silent, continued to monitor his readings and let the Captain lead things. Her questions were probably the exact ones the CO would ask, anyway. So it seemed more prudent to watch the computers and make sure records were being kept.

Karina
Doctor
(yup, slightly enamored lol)
OOC Totally understandable :-)

IC

He looked a bit startled by that pronouncement. “Athena…” slowly his cheeks rose in colour as embarrassment set in, “Yes well that would explain it now wouldn’t it”. He looked around and then pronounced, “My name is Hermes”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Karina smiled. “I’m Karina. Where were you that you wanted home and your sister?” She hasn’t been able to remain silent and blurted out the curious question without thinking. Immediately color rose in her own cheeks and she glanced at Wallace. “Sorry,” she murmured.

He took time considering his answer, “I was involved in a battle that nearly finished me, I was able to get away but I immediately wanted my sister’s help to recover”.

Looking back at Hermes, she was professional once more. “Would you like a drink of water?” It was a dumb question, but was better than stammering.

Karina
Doctor

“Yes, please” he replied relaxing again.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“It makes some sense that you ended up here, rather than with your sister. I’m assuming that sister you were seeking was Athena?” Jennifer wasn’t entirely versed on Ancient Myth, but she did recognize the names from the studying she had done in school. She let Karina get his water, and thought for a moment longer. “Of what kind of battle are you speaking? I’d like to be warned if any danger is potentially coming to my ship and crew.”

Wallace, CO

He looked hesitant and opened his mouth more than once to start the explanation, then discarded his words, finally he managed to get it out. “My family has suffered a schism. Ares seeks to depose us so that all that is shared by us now will be his and his allies alone. All of us have had to choose sides… it was he who sought to kill me whilst I was gathering others to the cause. I was seeking a being named McHenry when Ares attacked, I barely got out with my life”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Karina handed him the glass of water. “Ares!? The god of war?” She glanced embarrassed at the Captain. “Sorry, I am not good with most of my Greek gods either. But him I know.” She shrugged and relinquished the water glass to Hermes’ hand. “I wanted to be in security before deciding on a medical field. My first instructor was fascinated by all gods of war or battle in all cultures and races. Being from Earth, Ares was his favorite. Sorry.” She apologized for the fact her instructor was more a worshiper of his brother than him. “Can Ares get to you here? Can he get to us?” She spoke out of turn once more as common sense failed her and panic at another battle hit her in the chest like a punch to the heart.

Karina
Doctor

Jennifer was quiet, stepping away to process the situation. Karina’s question made her worry especially, the chance of a big fight when the majority of their crew was on shore leave was not a concept that made her especially confident.

Wallace, CO

Karina’s speech seemed to have an effect on Hermes, the blood returned to his face and he sat up swiftly taking her hand in his and looking at her with a piercing gaze. “He’ll have to get through me first. I gave as good as I got in our last encounter.” Her fluster seemed to energise him somehow and his eyes sharpened, looked far away and then returned to Karina’s.

Turning to the Captain he asked, “What is the name of the planet below?”

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“We’ve been told the name is Fantasy Planet,” Wallace answered, looking out at the corridor for a few moments. “Although it might have another name.”

Wallace, CO

“Do you have a star chart I could look at?” Hermes brow was furrowed a little and he was obviously deep in thought.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Jennifer considered the question for a few moments, then decided it wouldn’t hurt. “Oh, one thing that might interest you. Our scans say that you traversed universes to get here. Not sure what that means but it might be relevant.”

She stepped over to a terminal and set an order for a local star chart. And maybe to get the actual name of the planet.

Wallace, CO

As Hermes looked over the chart he muttered to himself, “That explains a lot”.

Meanwhile the search for the planet’s name came up with many references to “Fantasy Planet” in different tongues, plus a designated number in the Federation Database. there was one flagged with “Novum Suspectus EDOC”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Jennifer frowned, looking at the odd words. She searched their definitions, finding the likely meaning of Novum Suspectus to be “new suspect” which made very little sense. “Computer, please cross-reference EDOC and return any relevant data.”

Wallace, CO

The Computer quickly replied with =/\= No relevant data found =/\=

At that point the Admiral walked swiftly in making Hermes jump slightly.

“So who do we have here?” She said tossing back her blond hair and eyeballing Hermes intently.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“His name is Hermes,” Jennifer spoke, “Seems to be related to Greek Mythology,” she explained, staring at the computer’s display. “Admiral, have you ever heard the phrase, ‘Novum Suspectus EDOC’?”

Wallace, CO

Admiral Anethamai paused before speaking. “I don’t want to lie to you, but I also can’t reveal the answer to that right now. It would be dangerous for you to have that information at this time. I do promise to reveal it to you when the danger is past.”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Jennifer looked at the Admiral with a neutral look on her face, although she wanted to scowl. “If there’s danger, wouldn’t it be wiser to know where that danger may come from, so that I can keep my crew safe?” she replied cooly. This wasn’t the first time Anethamai had been cryptic with her and it was getting frustrating.

Wallace, CO

When Hermes had sat up so suddenly Karina had reacted instantly. Her hand was on his back as if to steady him. Her hand was warm as it rested against the right side of his torso. As the Admiral had entered, she had slowly, and reluctantly let it drop to the bed just behind his hip, hoping the Senior Officer hadn’t seen her.

At his comment of when they needed to know she forgot herself and piped up. “So you’ll reveal the danger of a planet we are currently hovering over and occupying with nearly half the crew after we’ve left the area?”

Without realizing it, she had stepped forward slightly. Her hand went to Hermes’ leg almost protectively as she moved in front of him. “Seems like that’s telling someone the bridge is out when they’re ten feet away going sixty miles an hour.” She was normally the quiet one. But the last mission had brought out a streak of protectiveness that still wasn’t something she had completely under control.

Karina
“Foot in mouth” doctor

Hermes muscles were taught under her hand and his face was conflicted, as he looked at the Admiral, containing many questions.

Anethamai grimaced and her face also showed conflict. “I know you have no reason to trust my reasons for withholding information right now but I can tell you this, you have a bigger part to play in this than you realise. Your trust is key right now, I have no right to ask it of you, but it is absolutely necessary to what lies ahead”.

Hermes looked up at them both, it was obvious he wanted to speak but was restraining himself. He nodded mutely in affirmation of what the Admiral had just said.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Jenn bit her tongue (figuratively). Although she agreed with Karina, it was more important for her to respect the chain of command and not blow up at the Admiral, as much as she did want to know what was being kept secret from her. Perhaps there was a slightly more diplomatic way of saying things. “If there is a danger that I cannot know, couldn’t I simply recall my crew and leave this place to keep them safer?” she spoke, the threat veiled in her words. Anethamai wanted them here for some reason, but no order had been given to come here and solve something. They were here for the crew’s relaxation, the Admiral was merely along for the ride. Unless this was all a façade, and she could call the Admiral’s bluff.

Wallace glanced over to Karina, meeting her eyes with a furrowed brow before turning back to Anethamai.

Wallace, CO

“Knowledge is a difficult thing to live with and knowledge that leads to fear would in this case be worse than fatal,” The Admiral paused as if listening to something, “The dominoes must fall in the precise right manner for this to work out for all of us.” Anethamai’s gaze narrowed as she watched the small crowd of people, “The important question is “Do you trust me?”“

Hermes said nothing but he put a fist to his heart and bowed slightly, seemingly waiting for the answer to the question.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“You’re an Admiral, so the chain of command would suggest that I trust you despite the fact that you’ve done very little to earn that trust. In fact, you’ve brought my crew to this planet, knowing there would be danger and not telling us about it. In fact, you lied and told us this would be a relaxing shore leave,” Jennifer clasped her hands behind her hands, tight-lipped as she struggled with whether or not to say the next sentence. “I think the question of whether or not I trust you is not the real question. They question we should be asking is why should I trust you, Admiral?”

Wallace, CO who’s initial distrust of the admiral has increased tenfold
