Karina had been at the science station going over various anomaly reports when the signature set off the alarm on her panel. She figured others had seen it as well, but spoke up. “Captain, there is an off energy reading coming from the main shuttle bay.” She ran a quick scan to see if it was from work being done on a shuttle or some other reason the crew would have set off such an alert. “Checking now to see if it’s from maintenance or some other plausible explanation.”

The doctor had stayed behind when the others had fled the ship. Part of it was she had been gone from the Athena long enough. And the other reason was a deep irrational fear, she hadn’t told anyone else, that if she left, the ship would disappear once more. She knew it wasn’t going to happen, but she hadn’t slept well the night before in the thought of it. So she had swapped with the NE on the roster and let the woman go to the surface with the others.

Jennifer nodded slightly towards Karina. She was glad to have an officer like Karina here. “I noticed that. Bring up the info on the main viewscreen, we might as well take a look. I wonder. Tactical, is anyone on security anywhere near the shuttle bay? We can go there ourselves to investigate, but if there’s someone already on site that’d be helpful.”

Wallace, CO

The energy reading appeared, disappeared and then reappeared, all emanating from the same spot in the shuttle bay. The scans done revealed nothing but an unknown energy heretofore never experienced by anything in the Federation databanks.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“The energy source fades in and out… could be transdimensional, but it’s relative position on the ship hasn’t moved.”

R’han

Karina thought for a moment. “Ummm Captain… Can we move the ship forward just enough that if the anomaly is stationary, it will end up behind us? That may give us a better bead on what it is as well. If it’s us or the location.” She was no scientist and had no real experience here. But it made sense that something appearing there and shimmering may be trying to occupy the same space. Removing the Athena would eliminate that one differential.

((I’m not a Scientist, Jim!))

Jenn glanced over Karina and gave her a small nod. “It’d be pretty nice for us if it turned out to be focusing on the space relative to the planet and not on us.” She then turned to the NE at the Helm. “Alright, Karina makes a solid point. Helm, move us out of the space of the energy reading.” Jennifer wasn’t sure whether to feel excited or nervous. Her first real chance at a possibly tense situation while being the Captain. How she worked her way through this was important. She had to do well. She felt awkward that Karina had thought of moving the ship out of the way of a weird energy reading in the hopes that it wasn’t focused on them specifically. she had to be proactive. “In the meantime, R’han, please communicate with the nearest security officers to the shuttlebay deck and tell them to investigate and report back on what they see. Take radiation-hazard precautions, just in case it, well, does end up being centralized in our bay.”

Wallace, CO

The energy signature started to flash in and out faster and faster, only now it was showing something in between flashes, life signs…

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“CAPTAIN!” Karina gasped and cried out just as the life signs appeared. “We should stop. If we keep going, those life signs could land in space!” She shivered at the thought of the half formed life forms appearing in the vacuum of space just off the aft of the ship.

“It could be an interdimensional transporter. I am now detecting life forms. Recommend General Quarters 4.”

R’han

Jennifer nodded, pulling the cover away and flipping the switch that would automatically turn the ship to General Quarters 4.

=/\= Bridge, Ensign Ceres here, damndest thing. We’ve got a collapsed naked man here in the main shuttle bay. Please advise =/\=

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Jennifer tapped the comms. =^=Ensign Ceres, what is the medical status of the, erm, naked man?=^= She asked. If he seemed like he was in trouble health-wise, she’d get him beamed to sickbay. Otherwise, the brig. She stood up from her chair. Now, this was a mystery she’d have to investigate. She glanced at R’han, then at Karina, trying to decide which one of them she’d be taking with her and which one she’d be leaving in charge of the bridge.

Wallace, CO

=/\= He’s nearly dead Captain, =/\= there was a pause and then an intake of the breath on the line, =/\= and um, Captain… he’s got wings on his ankles…=/\=

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Well, that solved that question. =^=Captain to transporter room, emergency transport the intruder in shuttlebay one to sickbay.=^= Jennifer stood up quickly and looked over at Karina and R’han. “R’han, you have the bridge. Karina, with me. We’re going to figure out what’s going on with this guy. A man with wings on his ankles. Sounds like some old earth stories my dad used to tell me. Fitting, given the name of our ship - Athena was a Greek goddess, one of her fellows happened to be a guy with wings on his ankles. Probably no connection, but it’s amusing.”

“Take a phaser,” R’han said bluntly. “Aliens that can just transport on a moving starship probably can heal pretty quickly.”

She got into the turbolift and waited for her CMO to join her.

Wallace, CO

Karina joined the Captain, grateful she had been told. She had been about to ask to go, anyway.

=/\= Ceres here, transport complete. Sick bay reports the intruder is with them =/\=

OOC I’ll continue this in sickbay.

R’han moved from tactical and took the Captains Chair. “Realign sensors to the same power wave. Maybe we can get a point of origin.”

R’han

Ensign Burgen was quick to hop to it. As she moved her fingers deftly over the controls her blue eyes widened a little and her bob of short blonde hair flew out a bit as she spun to give news to R’han. “Point of origin coming through now sir, as best as we can extrapolate, it originated from the Mirror Dimension”. Her diminutive form was tense and she couldn’t help but add, “I was hoping I’d never have to say those words again sir”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“I doubt it was a phrase any of us wanted to hear again. Especially so soon after the last mission.” Liam’s figure entered the bridge.

He had caught the mention of the point of origin and Mirror Dimension. That dimension held no good implications for anyone.

“It appears staying on the ship has proven more interesting than I had hoped for.” He took his place at his console. Without notification or permission, he began to read up on the last scans within the hour. Namely, he wanted to note any abnormal readings and get caught up on the current situation.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

OOC: Anyone would be so kind as to update Liam, and save me the paranoid worry of meta gaming… he and I would appreciate it. :P
-Janice B.

The log showed the scans of the energy signature in the shuttle bay that had turned out to be a lifeforms - now situated in the sickbay. Most of the crew were on the planet enjoying R&R.

R’han paused… “I remember reading a report of a Gary 7 and the Enterprise. Similar transporting, but the person was dressed.”

R’han

A comm call came in from Sickbay - =^=Captain to the Bridge. We’ve got the patient/intruder partially stabilized. He’s been struggling to survive for a long time. Any updates from your end?=^=

Wallace, CO

=^=I don’t have a lot of information, but science reports the likely point of origin is the Mirror Dimension…=^=

R’han

Liam turned his attention back to the console, focused on finding answers rather than watching the conversation play out. He brought up the information before and after the abnormality happened for comparison. He helped he might spot a warning sign or hint to its cause rather than its origin. Even a warning sign might be more helpful than simply waiting for it to happen again.

“R’han, I believe you mentioned a report of a Gary 7 and Enterprise? Will you please enlighten those of us who are unfamiliar with it and how you believe it might relate to the current situation?” Liam asked the Chief Tactics Officer while he waited for the information.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

The information reiterated that the likely point of origin was the Mirrorverse mainly as the energy pattern was consistent with known parameters for an interverse transporter. However what was more interesting was that the man in sickbay had come through naked meaning he was not carrying any device when he arrived.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist.

“about 150 years ago the First Enterprise, encountered a perfect human being sent to 1960s old Earth Calender, Earth via super powerful transporter system by a race unknown for a purpose stated benign to keep Earth on the right path. It seemed consistent with the initial information, but as data increases this seems more and more unlikely. It should be in the historical records. It is mostly unclassified.”

R;han

Ensign Burgen chuckled from her station. “We had a similar experience not so long ago, remember that strange purple cat that suddenly appeared on the ship?”

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

IC: “According to all the scans, the energy pattern is consistent with the interverse transporter. The only odd part is the lack of clothing or devices. One possible theory is that he chose to use one without any inorganics on his person. That leaves us with the question of why. That will have to be answered if or when he wakes up.” Liam relayed his information, as small as it was, to the others.

His eyebrow rose at the mention of a purple cat on the bridge, “I don’t think I was a part of that experience.”

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

OOC: If I was, I don’t remember it. XD
OOC That was our introduction to the adult Meryidiyth and it was a homage to Gary Seven :-)

-Janice B.

R’han started scanning for chonoton particles. It was an idea he got from a movie that forced people transported to be naked also included time travel.

R’han
OOC Come with me if you want to live :-)
IC
The chronoton particle scan came up negative. Burgen chuckled, “Well, that’s a relief anyway. I’m still trying to hone in on the source of where our visitor came from. As best as computer models can make out he didn’t just cross the barrier point to point from the mirrorverse he also travelled a distance from his origin. So we’re not just dealing with inter dimensional travel here, but long distance inter dimensional travel…”

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“It is better to check and be wrong, then not check and be right.” R’han commented. He sat back in the command chair fairly calmly but a little at a loss for what to do.

R’han
OOC Head down to the planet :-)
IC

The shift continued onwards with seemingly nothing else changing as they maintained geosynchronous orbit over the Hotel below. In the last ten minutes however, Burgen frowned and pronounced, “I’m getting some strange energy readings… from down below”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

At R’han’s comment, Liam agreed. “That is one piece of wisdom I agree with.”

He paused when he heard Burgen mention something about strange energy readings from down below. Immediately, he began to access and read the information the man obtained.

“It seems to be coming from the planet itself.” He turned to the remaining crew on the bridge.

“How much do we actually know about this planet?” It was obvious he wasn’t satisfied with simply sitting and waiting here.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

R’han tilted his head, “Certainly not enough if the description is ‘strange’. I would commence a scientific analysis.” R’han awaited hopefully.

R’han

The energy readings were almost identical to the one that had been recorded when their mysterious guest had arrived on board. Only these ones were harder to pinpoint as the energy had many overlapping signatures each with a slightly different vector.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“I suspected that the answer was little to nothing.” Liam replied then returned to his console, reading the information on the screen. He immediately frowned at the location coming up short.

“Both the planet and the ‘arrivals’ energy readings are almost identical. However, it’s very difficult to pinpoint the planet’s source location due to overlapping signatures. They all have different vectors. I’m going to try to identify the source of as many as I can and hopefully separate them from the mess.”

He didn’t expect this to work well or at all, but it was worth an attempt. Meanwhile, his thoughts turned to the crew currently departed for the planet.

“With these recent and strange occurrences… I believe we should alert the departed crew about odd energy signals. At least the department heads as a precaution. If things escalate, it is better they are aware of the situation than left in the dark.” Liam hoped someone higher than his command might actually see the logic behind his suggestion.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

The energy signatures were recorded as splitting into a series of individual signatures that settled at various points on the planet. One for each major continent and one on each pole.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“Seems to be an exploration type of pattern.” R’han mussed. “Do we have any more data?”

R’han

Liam’s frown continued a bit, still sorting the data in his head. It wasn’t as helpful in his head as he would’ve hoped, but it was something.

“If I understand the data accurately, the energy signatures are splitting into a series of individual signatures settling on various points on the planet. One on each major continent and one on each pole.” He tried to recall what caused that as he relayed the information to R’han.

“Any suggestions on what I should scan for might help. The location is still difficult to find due to the overlaying signatures.”

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

Now that the signatures had settled into individual patterns it was relatively easy to match them as being identical in nature to the one shown in the shuttle bay when their mysterious guest had arrived.
