In the modest space, the petite woman seemed to fit the cozy setting. She didn’t go to great lengths to decorate, but it was definitely more than the standard grey furniture and carpet. On the wall above the couch was an image of an ocean scene that could be almost anywhere and the standard grey slim arm chairs had been replaced with softer larger armchairs in a dark blue that looked inviting to curl up into. On top of the standard carpet, the sitting area was covered in a plush rug in different shades of blues that matched the ocean in the photo. On the other side of the room where she mostly worked, there was a tall leafy plant near her desk and a single silver photo frame on the corner of the desk where she could easily see it when she worked at the computer terminal. Overall, the place was warm but practical and uncluttered- much like Janna.

“Come on in and make yourself comfortable. I’m going to grab coffee and jot a couple notes from my last session before we get started. Did you want anything from the replicator while I’m there?”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

“No, thank you though. I just had some coffee. Thanks for sneaking me in.” Hammor said as he took a seat. “And I’m on your schedule, so take your time.” He shifted in the chair and found a comfortable position and then just looked at the ocean picture while Janna finished up.

Janna flashed him a smile as she got herself herself a cup of coffee and settled in at her desk. She began typing, make quick notes about things she didn’t want to forget and notes for follow-up later. It would be enough for her to make a proper file entry later.

A few minutes, she as done and moved over, sitting in one of the armchairs, coffee in hand. Crossing her legs at the knee, she focused on Daggum. “Alright, I’m good to go. So, what’s going on?” she asked, knowing that nothing short of something serious or overwhelming would likely bring he man into her office unexpectedly.

Daggum chuckled softly. “Well… what isn’t, might be a better way of going about it.” and he grinned. “Well… to start… I’m engaged. Hopefully we’ll be getting married in six months or so. She’s in Star Fleet, a computer specialist. Right now she is on the USS Manhattan in the Delta Quadrant. So there is that. Added to that is work… which for some odd reason on this ship seems to be much harder than anywhere else I have ever been. I mean seriously, you’ve been here a while. Who did you guys make mad?” and he smiled and chuckled again.

“So my fiance… Faye… she’s had a hard go of it in her childhood and has some medical issues of her own. Lost her parents in the war, so and so forth… but found out about a year ago her mom was still alive. They got reunited. Thats good. But I just got a call from her, Faye… not her mom… and it turns out Faye has a sister from before her mom and dad were together. And her mom just found her… well… actually her mom’s brand new husband as of a day or so ago found her. Faye just found out both things and called me. I tried to be supportive, keep her calm and relaxed… and when we got off the comms… well… I suddenly felt like I weighed only slightly less than the core of black hole. I just…” and he cocked his head to the side and blew out a shard breath. “Janna… all of this coupled with Viyara and planning a wedding and all the logistics and… I… I feel guilty for feeling like this but F^%K ME I need a break! One day… one… where I don’t have to help.” and he chuckled in a self-deprecating fashion. “Honestly, I have no idea how you do this>” and he shook his head and his shoulders slumped down.

“I’m tired, Janna… just… tired.”
