“Well the scans did not reveal much, but here is what we have.” Dan reached for his tricorder to access the data.

Dan was distracted by the cracking sound and the energy bubble that as descending and thought to himself ‘Now what?’

Ensign Dan Jones (Scientist)

S’Raal poured over the notes for a brief moment and then repeated T’Pon’s words relayed from Rxzyth. “I must sacrifice of myself so that the Guardian may live again, science and medicine combined must repair him”. He looked at the scientists. “Both Guardian and Rxzyth are silicon based life forms, they even call each other brother and sister. Rxzyth wants us to use material from her to patch the Guardian in the same way as she separated part of herself to create the picture that brought us here”.

Suddenly the XO’s comm badge chirped =/\=Koraia to Chryst.=/\=

OOC Cross posting from the bridge thread :-)

His Uniform had been singed, and there were burned patches of synthetic skin but mostly the Executive officer was whole. He looked up at the descending energy field as he moved to join with the others near the Guardian. He was coming from the direction that said he had been nearer to the front lines, or the Triage center during the blast. Adam wondered what the next step was, and as the Senior Officer on the scene it was his responsibility to figure that out.

=^= Yes Captain?=^= Adam responded.

Commander Adam Chryst, Executive Officer, USS Athena NCC 17819-D

OOC: I’m not sure if this is possible or not, but after a bit of reading I found one similar case. That was a Voyager episode with Tuvix. I felt it was plausible enough to suggest, but not sure it would work.

IC: Liam continued to think. His hand rose up and placed his fingers on his chin, rubbing it slowly. Teleporter accidents cropped up into his mind as the only case where two beings were spliced apart or merged together, their DNA altered by it. Both the subjects were the same matter base, though they would need to manipulate the teleporter in order to properly do it. At least monitor the results to reverse the proceess if or when trouble popped up.

“The only incidents I can recall, at least with tools at our disposal, involving merging one individual into another is with the transporter. Especially back in the early development stages of the technology,” Liam commented, unsure if the actual procedure could be controlled and would work.

“It’s only a theory at this point,” He continued as he took a scanner then ran it over Rxzyth briefly, gathering information over her then comparing it to the Guardian. Even if S’Raal didn’t feel the procedure would work, having a genetic scan of both creatures would’ve still been beneficial for their intimidating task. Hopefully, it might’ve given more hints over how to accomplish their given assignment.

The scan of Rxzyth was illuminating, it showed clearly that she had partitioned herself off into three entirely seperate areas. One was the size and shape of the picture they had studied throughout their journey here, one other had minimal electron activity and had essentially become inert ready for patching the Guardian. What was left housed Rxzyth in her true nature that would continue after the operation was complete.

OOC Nearly there people, the end is nigh :-), or perhaps the beginning…

“I think that might work” S’Raal said enthusiastically, a nod from T’Pon seemed to agree. Then it dawned on him what the hail for Chryst meant. “If the Captain’s hailing does that mean that they were successful and the Athena is back? They have the transporters we need!”

There was an audible tone of relief as Koraia replied. =/\=Good. You’re still there. We have dealt with the timeship, but its demise had the unintended consequence of shifting us forward in time slightly. And somehow there is an entire civilization down there with you. But we’re safe up here and while it’s complicated, I think we should reconvene the party up here. What’s your status?=/\=

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

Dan heard the Captain’s message and informed the CSO that he was fine. Actually Dan was shaken up by all the events that had happened so suddenly. Dan wondered if it was the timeslips that made it appear that everything was happening at once.

Dan continued to run his scans of Rxzyth and record the data for later analysis.

Ensign Dan Jones (Scientist)

OOC: Sorry for the lengthy reply, I wanted to give everyone something to reply to and progress a bit. It’s also fun watching Liam take the leadership role when he feels pressured.

-Janice B.

IC: Liam clicked his communicator and began to catch the captain upon their solution.

=^= “Captain the crew all appear healthy, but the Guardian has been heavily damaged,=^= Liam revealed, waiting to allow the CO to absorb the information before he continued. Time was of the essence and they had none to spare.

=^= “We might’ve figured out a way to fix the Guardian of Forever using a piece of Rxzyth, his protector. However, we need to use Athena’s transporters in order to splice the piece of Rxzyth and the Guardian together,”=^= Liam took a breath then continued.

=^= “Officer Jones will be monitoring the Guardian and S’Raal will likely need to ensure the patches are placed correctly. If the theory works, the Guardian will be fixed.”=^=

Liam finished up as he turned to Dan, instructing him, “Jones, based on your observations S’Raal will be directing the materials and altering the location if needed. So be very sure and clear about what you relay to him.”

His attention turned to S’Raal next.

“You might need to be manning the transporter console while Jones feeds you the information, especially if complications occur. Unless you believe you can direct the stationed officer effectively from here?”
