A little less than 24 hours later Marishka arrived back where she had requested to be a part of Orvos’ adventure. It never hurt to be early.

Over the last 24 hours she had tried to enjoy herself without the responsibilities of The Parthenon but found it quite boring. After a while she had given up trying and had actually slept for some time.

  • Marishka

The 24 hours flew past incorporating an amazing sunset and equally spectacular sunrise . The transport to the South EDOC spaceport went without even the slightest turbulence.

Thoth himself had accompanied them all and the whole time they had made the trip his upper lip had “wobbled” a little as he spoke. He seemed more excited about what was about to happen than any of them.

They arrived at the hangar entrance and eyes twinkling Thoth punched in his code sweeping back the door to see what lay inside…

OOC We’ll let Orvos have the honour of describing the ship :-)

OOC: This (https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=pJlucLHa&id=528EA0BA008E3C43E6DECB7EA683D7BB48D53F40&thid=OIP.pJlucLHaYvM-RHuQczvj6QHaEK&mediaurl=https%3a%2f%2fth.bing.com%2fth%2fid%2fR.a4996e70b1da62f33e447b90733be3e9%3frik%3dQD%252fVSLvXg6Z%252byw%26riu%3dhttp%253a%252f%252fimperialaschendatalink.weebly.com%252fuploads%252f5%252f2%252f3%252f3%252f52334567%252fccwship2_orig.jpg%26ehk%3dGDEnbDocitZYTWojqkQ2d2sXyWR4YosV26Jbo4NUKvo%253d%26risl%3d%26pid%3dImgRaw%26r%3d0&exph=576&expw=1024&q=star+ships&simid=607986572617278745&FORM=IRPRST&ck=1409148BA432F0C57628894ABB95BE72&selectedIndex=19&ajaxhist=0&ajaxserp=0 ) was the inspiration for what I’m sharing below. :)

IC: And there she was, the Aurora! Or at least, what Orvos knew was merely a replica of it. There no way this could replace the familiar scents and sounds of the actual ship with people bustling about that he had once known.

The Aurora was a sleek, dark, metal grey color. A large ring was the most notable characteristic of it, being the closest part of the ship to the ground. On top of the ring sat the body of the ship, it’s features smooth starting from a box like rear and ending in a nearly pointed front end. Blue light could be seen radiating from the underside of the ring. Windows of light were strewn all about the body and ring of the ship. On the front of the ship, closest to the bridge, was an inscription that glowed red and green interchangeably. It was written in El Aurian, and thus only those who knew the language would understand what it meant.

“Incredible!” said Orvos ebulliently. “You must have quite the team, Mr. Thoth, to assemble her in 24 hours?”

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka had been standing quietly off to the side and a bit behind Orvos. She had wanted to come on this journey with him but this was, by no means, about her. The language itself was even foreign.

Stepping a little closer she debated on whether to ask him what it said and possibly ruin the moment or just let it be.

Finally, she glanced at the ship, smiled, and raised an eyebrow.

Stark was absolutely riveted. You could tell he couldn’t wait to get inside and take off.

Thoth smiled depreciatingly, “We aim to please”. Suddenly he clutched his forehead and his eyes widened in shock. “We must hurry Lorekeeper, disaster is upon us. We must board and leave the planet quickly before the enemy finds us. I can shield out presence, but only for a short time. Please, I beseech you, make haste!”.

Yami slipped her arm under Thoth’s frail form and helped him towards the ship, almost carrying him.

Orvos’s face grew grim as he moved after Yami and Thoth. “Tell me what’s going on Thoth. This doesn’t seem to be part of the fantasy.” Orvos’s personality was shift ever so slightly from the wacky chief engineer to the serious and concerned captain of old.

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Thoth tried to straighten and look Orvos in the eye but there seemed to be no strength in him. “Your ship has been taken by our enemy Ares, if we can get off the planet before Ares forces know we have a space vessel we may be able to take it back. I can tell you the rest on the way but I can only hold my illusion over this place for a few minutes longer, if we don’t take off before then, we will be countered and lose the chance”.

Effortlessly lifting the man, Yami looked at them, “I’m inclined to believe him”.

Stark rolled his eyes, “Shore leave… never again I tell you, never again”.

Whether this was real or fantasy Marishka was fully invested and along for the ride. She had been listening intently while silently keeping pace with Orvos.

On the Athena she joked with him and would have flatly disagreed with him if he dared formally try to order her around but, this was different and she hoped he understood that.

  • Marishka

Orvos stopped. “Hold then! Let me try something.”

He looked to his wrist device. which at one point had doubled as a communicator to the original Aurora. Would it work this time?

He clicked the tiny interface. “Orvos to Aurora, 5 to beam directly to the bridge!”

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Sparkling lights appeared before their faces as they appeared on the bridge of the Aurora.

Thoth, still held in Yami’s arms, winked at Orvos, “I pride myself on the detail of my work”.

Marishka looked from Orvos to Thoth and then began making a detailed study of the bridge.

  • Marishka

Yami laid Thoth gently down in a chair and checked him over. He patted her hand in a grandfatherly way.

“Don’t fuss my dear, I’m worn from holding us from the second sight, once we reach out goal I’ll be fine”.

Yami nodded but her eyes showed the gravity of the situation. She began to make flight preparations as if she had been working in the ship all her life.

Marishka felt a bit out of sorts at the moment which was a fairly unusual feeling for her.

“What would you have me do?” she asked Thoth.

  • Marishka

Smiling, Thoth replied quietly, “What you do best Warrior Princess, beat the hell out of whoever we find on the ship”.

Orvos had taken a moment, soaking in the details of his old ship. How they had been so accurate was beyond him. He appreciated it though.

The bridge was well lit with small consoles positioned throughout. The pilot seat sat dead center of the viewscreen. The captain’s chair was behind that with multiple holographic images on display around it. The Operations console was positioned to the left of the captain’s seat, and the weapons station was positioned to the right. Several science and engineering stations lined the right and left walls of the rectangular bridge. And that was only the bridge. Orvos was fully aware of the other amenities aboard including specialized weapons in the armory and yacht with an attached special operations vehicle for land.

Orvos moved to where Yami had left Thoth. “We need to retake the Athena. Can you tell me anything about the captors? After feeling rushed, I feel like I still don’t know much about our current situation.” He had briefly recalled the mention of Ares, he thought? He recalled the being as a mythological god on earth. His mind churned as he waited for Thoth’s reply.

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka had been standing quietly beside Orvos. They were in the one place where he could actually give her an order and expect her to take it but that might come later. For now, she was instinctively drawn to the weapon station.

Silently she glided across the bridge until she had reached it but didn’t actually want to touch anything quite yet.

  • Marishka

Orvos happen to notice how the controls shifted as she got closer. He designed them, so he knew what was happening.

Thoth’s eye’s became distant for a moment, “Ares main forces are below, I can only sense two Beings aboard the Athena. They will become aware of us soon so if you have any tricks to get us on board I’d suggest you use them. Then we take them captive, regain the ship, pulverise the shield over the planet and swoop in to save the day, nice and simple”.

Orvos gave a grin, albeit a bit inauthentic as he took in the situation.

He moved to the captain’s chair and took a seat. “So, for all intents and purposes, you lot ought to know what we’re getting into. This ship was one of the most advanced that the El Aurian people once had. Full of neat tricks, she is. We’ve got a cloak if need be, but I never liked fighting unfairly. Never tried getting the cloak to work while using weapons. Might need to negotiate. There’s also a yacht at the lowest deck. Could use it to flank the Athena, though Athena may be much more powerful than that delightful joyride.” He was thinking aloud.

“Need to know more about Ares,” he said, turning to Thoth. “Why are there only 2 beings aboard the Athena? Can they seriously keep the ship from being invaded?”

“Stark, Marishka, take a seat and get comfy. We’re going to need all the help you can give.” Orvos said, reassuring the two that it was ok to do as they saw fit.
