While Dr. Grey, Janna and Daggum were talking and the two latter returned to the cottage as Dr. Grey left the holodeck, Viyara had continued to run till she reached the Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge. The same place she had went to the day before. Something about that bridge and the rock of the shore it led to gave her a sense of security. It hadn’t actually been till her foot touched the bridge that she had stopped running. Though unlike the day before, she hadn’t actually walked all the way across the bridge and found herself a nice spot on the other side. Instead she was sitting almost exactly in the centre of the bridge, her feet dangling down, her gaze lingering on the horizon, the ocean and Sheep Island. She still felt like she couldn’t think straight and her emotions were all over the place. Making her feel utterly overwhelmed. Yet at the same time she also felt oddly numb, almost empty. Though for once she didn’t even try to make sense of it by journalling. Instead she was just sitting there; the ropes of the bridge cutting into her bare thighs. As uncomfortable, even painful, as that was, it was also soothing, grounding even. And she didn’t care that she should be doing something to sooth and ground herself without causing pain.

It was a good half hour or so after Janna and Daggum had returned to the cottage that the front door opened and Viyara slipped almost noiselessly back into the little house. She didn’t say anything and instead moved silently into the living room.

~Viyara

Janna heard the door but not much else. There was a bit of relief though to know that Viyara had found her way back and she also knew that she’d talk when she was ready. Sometimes you just needed to give a person time to process. “Coffee is on, if you’d like some,” she called out before shifting her attention back to Daggum.

Daggum looked up as the door opened, but he simply nodded at Viyara and gave her a half-smile before looking back. “So Doc… this place your program? Or did it come with the ship?” he asked with a slight chuckle.

Daggum

Janna grinned. “It’s Viyara’s program. Somewhere safe where we could delve into the hard things together,” she said as she swirled the coffee grounds around the carafe and then gently pressed down, extracting the wonderful dark liquid from the grounds.

Viyara briefly turned her head towards Daggum and Janna, but didn’t join them in kitchen. Instead she sat down on the floor, the soles of her feet touching each other, her legs resting on the ground; forming a narrow diamond shape. Placing her journal on her feet, she pulled the fountain pen from its side and started to write. At some point while she had been away, she had pulled the elastic out of her long, dark purple hair so that it was now falling forward, hiding her face.

It was about ten more minutes before she got up and joined the other two in the kitchen. Her long hair still partly hiding her pale face, Viyara leaned against the door frame, trying to appear nonchalant, despite the tension she could feel in every single part of her body. “I’m sorry I ran away like that,” she said softly, only partly able to meet their eyes.

~Viyara

Janna regarded Viyara with a neutral expression though it certainly wasn’t unkind- her therapist’s mask reengaged for the moment. “What made you return?” she asked simply as she poured herself a cup of coffee and slid the press to Daggum.
