(snip)

‘I am not alone. I am not defenceless,’ Viyara thought over and over again like a mantra as she tried to calm herself down and stay out of harms way. She still felt unable to fight back. But at the very least she could do her best to stay out of range of their attackers so no one would have to come and save her. Again. After all, it was bad enough that she felt unable to help them. The least she could do was to do her best to not add to the problem at hand.

While she moved backwards, Viyara started to really look around. Taking in everything around her in as much detail as possible. And not only what she saw, but she also used her other senses as well. Maybe she could find a different way to help. One that didn’t include taking a weapon and using it against their opponents.

The Sphinx stayed silent under Hammor’s diatribe and continued to advance. The Chimera however were distracted enough that Maui and Kane slipped around the perimeter and engaged them from behind. The ladies had secured the door to the EDOC power room and Poli’ahu had even taken the precaution of stabbing the Siren a few times just to be sure. They advanced on Sphinx from behind as the Chimera were systematically hacked to death.

If Sphinx was concerned by the numbers against, it didn’t show it. Suddenly dust and stones started whirling around in a storm with Sphinx at the centre of it…

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Hammor cursed to himself in his mind, and he knew that he had to throw the Sphinx off somehow. When in doubt, do the last thing they or you would think you should. and he grinned.

It was really fast, a compliment to his training. He sent the spear flying at the Sphinx, letting go of the chain attached to it. But instead of drawing a blade, or trying to distract… he did what he figured would be the last thing in either of their minds…

He charged. Straight into the swirling dust and stones, moving as fast as his feet would carry him. His goal was simple: Make the Sphinx move, throw them off even just a little. If they didn’t, they would learn what it felt like to be tackled by one of the largest Orions to ever come out of the gladiator pits. Yes, he knew it was going to hurt. But the priority was winning, and sometimes that meant pain.

Hammor, Gladiator

From her safe haven in the tree, She jolted back in surprise at Daggum’s charge. She had been ready to nock another arrow, but now with Hammor there, she set it but didn’t pull back. She didn’t want to risk accidentally losing grip and hitting someone. Her eyes shifted here and there, tracking Viyara’s movements. She knew the woman needed help, but the kind of help she needed from Janna wasn’t something she could give right now. They had to survive first. Then they could deal with the fallout.
