‘I am not alone. I am not defenceless,’ Viyara thought over and over again like a mantra as she tried to calm herself down and stay out of harms way. She still felt unable to fight back. But at the very least she could do her best to stay out of range of their attackers so no one would have to come and save her. Again. After all, it was bad enough that she felt unable to help them. The least she could do was to do her best to not add to the problem at hand.

While she moved backwards, Viyara started to really look around. Taking in everything around her in as much detail as possible. And not only what she saw, but she also used her other senses as well. Maybe she could find a different way to help. One that didn’t include taking a weapon and using it against their opponents.

The Sphinx stayed silent under Hammor’s diatribe and continued to advance. The Chimera however were distracted enough that Maui and Kane slipped around the perimeter and engaged them from behind. The ladies had secured the door to the EDOC power room and Poli’ahu had even taken the precaution of stabbing the Siren a few times just to be sure. They advanced on Sphinx from behind as the Chimera were systematically hacked to death.

If Sphinx was concerned by the numbers against, it didn’t show it. Suddenly dust and stones started whirling around in a storm with Sphinx at the centre of it…

Hammor cursed to himself in his mind, and he knew that he had to throw the Sphinx off somehow. When in doubt, do the last thing they or you would think you should. and he grinned.

It was really fast, a compliment to his training. He sent the spear flying at the Sphinx, letting go of the chain attached to it. But instead of drawing a blade, or trying to distract… he did what he figured would be the last thing in either of their minds…

He charged. Straight into the swirling dust and stones, moving as fast as his feet would carry him. His goal was simple: Make the Sphinx move, throw them off even just a little. If they didn’t, they would learn what it felt like to be tackled by one of the largest Orions to ever come out of the gladiator pits. Yes, he knew it was going to hurt. But the priority was winning, and sometimes that meant pain.

From her safe haven in the tree, She jolted back in surprise at Daggum’s charge. She had been ready to nock another arrow, but now with Hammor there, she set it but didn’t pull back. She didn’t want to risk accidentally losing grip and hitting someone. Her eyes shifted here and there, tracking Viyara’s movements. She knew the woman needed help, but the kind of help she needed from Janna wasn’t something she could give right now. They had to survive first. Then they could deal with the fallout.

The spear was ripped violently from its trajectory by the wind and debris and narrowly missed taking Kane’s head off as it shot sideways into the mountain side pitted and eaten by high energy moving particles of dust.

Maui tried to call out to Daggum in a futile attempt to stop his annihilation at the forces he was running into.

Time seemed to stand still as everyone stood transfixed at Hammor’s impending demise.

From above the door into the mountain a shape arose as, forgotten to all, Poseidon hammered water down on the dust cloud.

Sphinx looked up at just the right moment for Hammor to hit him driving him backwards into the mountain. There was a soft sigh from Sphinx as a piece of igneous rock protruded from his chest.

Death surrounded them, they had won.

For a moment Janna just held her breath. Then she exhaled. Stashing her arrow, she settled the bow over her shoulder and swung down from a branch, letting herself drop gracefully from the tree, her feet landing softly and absorbing the impact.

Hammor looked at Sphinx for a monet and then half-laughed. “A god? Right… Puny god, if anything.” and he looked up at ‘Poseidon’ and yelled “Appreciate that! That was really gonna hurt!” and he began retrieving his weapons.

Hammor

OOC Puny God haha, I was hoping someone would use that line :-)

Poseidon grinned and tipped his captain’s hat, “Mother always told me, TEAM, Together Everyone Achieves More”.

Maui punched in the code and the door scanned him and let them inside. Banks of flickering lights filled the walls of a gargantuan subterranean cave backlit by magma from far below. Punching in instructions to the one screen present on a podium he looked triumphant. “The EDOC is approaching full charge, I’m directing as much of its power as I can to Anchor Point”. A screen appeared in the middle of the air showing the battle at the hotel in full swing.

Joining them, Kingston looked, well, miffed was probably right. Disconcerted was another.”Can we help them, without joining the fray?” she asked. Was it clear how much she didn’t want to join that particular party?

~Janna Kingston, CNS

OOC: It had to be said!

“Or we split up and send help, and keep some back here to support as they can.” Daggum said and looked at Maui. “That possible? Can you get us there and some help from here as well?”

Hammor

“Absolutely” Maui nodded, “We can teleport you from here and as to those who stay, we could use some people on communication to help direct our efforts”

(Keeping it on the board)

“Then do it.” Hammor said, pulling out the knife used previously in his off-hand and a truly wicked looking axe in the other. He rolled his shoulders and looked at Maui. “Any advice?” he said with a grin.

Hammor, Ops

“Stay low, they have no idea beyond forward, back, left, and right. Maui returned the grin and then looked at the others. “Stay and ensure that this nexus of the EDOC is not lost, our allies need the power.

Maui stepped onto a large pad big enough for eight people and gestured for Hammor to join him. He hefted his Mere with a grim look on his face. All semblance to Peydone was gone now.

Hammor stepped onto the pad and cracked his neck loudly. He bounced lightly on the balls of his feet, keeping his balance equal but ready to spring into action immediately. The look on his face was serious… but there was a gleam in his eyes that seemed off for the normally friendly and outgoing Ops Chief. It was almost like he was enjoying himself.

Hammor

There was a hum as the transporter kicked in whisking them away.
