With her head bowed and every muscle in her body still clenched, Viyara took several deep breath trying to relax and lessen the anxiety she felt. Even if only a tiny bit. After several long moments of silence, she finally turned around. Her brows were pulled together and lips were pressed into a narrow line. Shaking her head a little, she looked up at Daggum, her heterochromatic eyes searching his face. Looking for something. What it was she wasn’t even sure of herself. Finally she said softly, “I want her to come back. But I feel it would be wrong to ask. I know you said I can, but it’s how I feel. And I am afraid she will say no and I’ll feel even more alone, more abandoned, more anxious than I already do. That’s why I can’t call her and ask.” With a soft sigh and another slight shake of her head, she dropped her gaze before moving slowly away from Daggum. She felt torn between needing some space and wanting him to follow her. Torn between hoping that he would contact Janna and that he wouldn’t. Torn between staying on the holodeck and leaving to see Dr. Grey and then return to her quarters. Nothing felt right. As if - no matter what she decided to do - it would be the wrong choice. Again.

“Sometimes we need to what feels wrong to do what is right. Here, try this…” and he tapped his badge. =/\= Commander Hammor to Lieutenant Kingston. Ensign Nazeen would like a private word, if you don’t mind. =/\= and he looked at Viyara. “Now ask, line is open.”

Daggum

They had no way to know where Janna had made it to by then. She hadn’t been gone long, but long enough to have made it back to her office, or maybe her quarters. She also responded immediately. =/\=I’m here.=/\=

Spinning around, her eyes suddenly wide and her expression akin to that of a deer caught in headlights, Viyara just stared at Daggum. For a couple of heartbeats her mind was completely blank and she was unable to say anything as a wave of different emotions rolled over her. But just as suddenly the fear vanished from her eyes and was replaced by anger. “How could you do that? Put me on the spot like that?” she hissed before running out of the living room. A moment later the sound of the door to her room being slammed shut could be heard.

Daggum shook his head at the retreating figure and then exhaled slowly.

Inside her room, Viyara leaned against the door. Confused and overwhelmed. Holding tightly onto her forearms without even noticing that she was doing it. Letting her head drop back against the door, a soft thud could be heard and then a few moments later another one as she sank towards the ground. Hugging her knees to her chest, she tried to make sense of everything she was feeling and tried to calm the turmoil of emotions inside her.

Of course, Janna heard everything and while she hadn’t been privy to the discussion since she left she could hazard some decent guesses at what was going on right now. =/\=While it would be my preference for her to directly ask for what she needs, do you think I should come anyway?=/\= She was trusting Daggum to give her an accurate impression of the situation.

=/\= Probably wouldn’t hurt, Doc. She’s feeling adrift. She wanted to ask you to come back, but she locked up. =/\=

Daggum

=/\=Understood, on my way.=/\=

It took a few minutes, but Janna appeared through the front door. She was wearing the same blue floral dress and leather sandals as earlier, but also had on a cozy knit cardigan in cream that was left unbuttoned. Her blond curls had had a brush run through them and while she looked put together, Janna looked tired. It was an ever so brief look that vanished beneath a mask. She winked at Daggum and moved into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. “So this is all just an experiment. We’re testing where we are at and what we need. I’m glad someone called me,” she said, just loud enough to make sure Viyara heard her. She had, of course, checked the program before entering to see where her patient was.

Daggum shrugged. “Seemed to be the best thing for everybody. V is really pissed at me for calling you but like I said… she couldn’t do it herself. So here we are.” and he took a breath and then moved into the kitchen and began making himself a cup of coffee.

Daggum

“Pour me a cup too?” Janna said, joining him. She wasn’t going to intrude on Viyara yet, and there was a bit of an experiment going on with that too. She was still learning how much she could push and how much she could expect Viyara to act for herself, and that was something else she was testing.
