A Mythology class ship had an abundant number of sickbays and hospital clinics within the walls and decks of the ship, so finding one to get his medical exam over and done with was mostly a formality. Even if you didn’t look it up, you just walked and you would find one at some point.

As it was, Ros didn’t bother just walking, he looked it up, so when he stepped through the doors to one of the ships medical bays he hadn’t broken a sweat by walking further than most people did across the village they were born in. Nodding to the medical staff that were present, Ros gave them a quick smile and then stepped to one side, to wait his turn and crossed his arms while he leaned on the bulkhead beside the nearest empty bio-bed.

Lt Cmdr Akirel, CE

After a few moments a Nurse NE walked up the Akirel with a small PaDD “Commander, the Doctor will see you now, please have a seat on a nearby bed” He said, tapping something on the handheld device then moving on with his duties.

Giving a nod and an informal salute, Ros turned to the nearby bed and did as asked, easily hoisting himself into the bed and casually waiting, one leg slightly propped on the bed’s surface.

Arriving with Akirel at the biobed of his choice was a tall man of a similar age as Ros although a slimmer build and broad shoulders. He looked the Engineering chief over, bright green eyes then blinked once “Lieutenant Commander Akirel?” He asked. The man spoke with a a slight Edinburgh accent.

“Guilty as charged, you were expecting me I presume.” The Bajoran nodded, setting his moon and star earring swinging as he did so. “Recently arrived, I’ve come to do my boarding physical if you have a moment, Doctor?”

Lt Cmdr Akirel, CE

“Yes but no” Benjamin put a hand in his coat pocket and removed a medical tricorder “But I received your file when the transfer was confirmed. My staff knows to call me for Senior staff check-ups” He said as he absently removed the scanner wand from its holster “I’m Doctor Grey, Chief Medical Officer” He belatedly introduced himself and smiled politely. He looked across Akirel’s shoulder and looked as if he were reading something “Your file doesn’t mention anything specific medical-related, just your basic checkups” He frowned “Ah yes, you were assigned to the USS Viking for a time” He tapped the biobed computer “Anything I should know from between now and your last checkup?” He asked as he began a general scan with his tricorder.

“You got a photographic memory there doc or is there a holo-screen behind me?” Ros grinned. “Everything should be fine. No bugs, viruses or mind altering aliens that I know of.”

Benjamin smiled slightly at the Chief’s joke “More like Eidectic memory, not perfect but it saves time from having to keep rereading medical files. It’s also a neat party trick”

The scan that Grey did of Ros did show up some unusual things at first glance, but these things were recorded in his previous medical scans. First was that his body temperature seemed to run slightly higher than that of a normal Bajoran though he showed no illness or injury that might cause it. Second, was that his resting neural activity was higher as well, as if his nervous system was working a little harder than normal and processing more sensory information. It might account for his raised temperature as well. Both figures were only very slightly raised however and matched previous scans for many years, and had been marked as normal checkmarks for him.

“So you are aware of the Viking?” Ros asked him. “Former resident of that ship as well?”

Lt Cmdr Akirel, CE

Benjamin took a moment to answer, raising an eyebrow at the abnormal scan data “Uhm no, I have a…” He paused “Not exactly a cousin but close enough, used to be Security chief there, Last I heard he’s working as the intelligence officer there now” He scratched his chin with the scanner wand absently “I’ve also heard a lot of unsubstantiated rumors, the most famous ghost ship in the fleet, or so they used to say on every other Fleeter bar in the Meridian fleet” He shook his head, clearly not a believer in those rumors “You have some interesting readings here Commander, higher than normal temperature and neural activity, It’s stated as normal for you” His tone had turned more academically curious than critical.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Most of those rumors were probably true. There were some odd things going on there, it was just one of those ships that needed to be forgotten but wouldn’t go down without a fight.” Ros fell quiet for a moment as memories quickly flew past him. The Viking was the place where he felt like he had been born again, the man he was today had been molded and formed from a putty of directionless flesh. The ship was haunted, of that he held no doubt but it was the intelligence and purpose behind the ship that had been the reason for his development. Without it, he knew he would of just been a talented Engineer with an attitude and a drinking problem.

“I’ve always run hot,” the grin returned to his face. “Hotheaded in youth and never able to keep still. I seldom get sick or exhausted, my system just seems to run at a higher level and take care of itself pretty well. I’ve been lucky really. My mother always told me if I could only focus that energy I could go far,” he shook his head and sighed. “Of course I never listened to her.”

Lt Cmdr Akirel, CE

Ben chuckled at that and shook his head slightly “Mothers really do know best don’t they” He closed the tricorder and placed it into his coat pocket “Well you seem fit enough for duty, I don’t have anything to add. Unless you have any questions for me you are free to go on with your day.” He said with a polite smile.
