Benjamin raised an eyebrow and barely held back a snide remark, it was a bad habit he was falling back into, trying to be witty or sarcastic at inopportune moments. Instead, he wrote a few words on his computer, sending a message to his deputy to take over for the time being. =^=Computer, Privacy=^= He said in a clear tone, causing the door close and the windows to darken on the outside. He folded his arms in his lap “I’m assuming that this is a medical issue seeing as you are visiting me” He looked at the other two officers but pointedly didn’t mention their presence “And as such patient-confidentiality applies” He was now speaking in his doctor voice, a calm, professional tone.

Orvos stood by letting her speak. He knew his presence would be needed, given how directly involved with him it now was. However if she wished to have a moment he would honor it. The choice was hers.

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

OOC: With Ian’s departure, it’s just Janna and Orvosnow so I think we can assume they’re sitting in the chairs.
IC:
Running her hands back and forth over her thighs, Kingston was taking her sweet time trying to find the words. When she lifted her curly blond head, her grass green eyes were filled with a mixture of awe and fear. “Long story short, myself, Orvos and Commander Nightstalker had a little impromptu adventure on the Starbase before we left for what was supposed to be our most recent R&R misadventure. It’s complicated and I don’t think the whole details matter but, we found ourselves in the Nexus, and at some point I handled and used an object made up from the energy of the Nexus, and… it’s changed me Ben. Not in a bad way necessarily, but it’s like I’ve become empathic to a degree. I have a deep knowing about people that I didn’t before. And I’m a little terrified about what it means.” She had stilled her hands by clasping them tightly on her lap.

Benjamin listened intently, nodding on occasion until she mentioned the Nexus. At that point, he redirected a portion of his mind to recall all he could about the extradimensional energy ribbon, which wasn’t much. After she finished he didn’t speak for a few moments. He finally finished gathering his thoughts “After handling an extradimensional orb you’ve gained empathic abilities” He said mostly to himself, he dismissed an urge to grab his tricorder from his coat pocket “I see, We’ll need to run a series of tests on these abilities later on but for now, how are you?” He asked.

She inhaled, exhaled, and inhaled again. “I mean, physically I’m fine. At first I didn’t really notice it, but I’d be sitting in sessions with people and I’d have this intuition about what they were feeling under the surface, the parts they weren’t willing to share. And I’m a skilled enough therapist that I can conjecture some of it from body language and what people leave out of the conversation, but I’m not that good.”

“And I wouldn’t call it empathy, not exactly. It’s not so precise a reading as that. But there’s more to it also, it’s like when…” Janna drifted off and looked at Orvos, studying him deeply. She knew how much he loathed others knowing the intimate details of his life, but this couldn’t be helped. He had said as much. And they were here now- it was too late. “When I touched Orvos a short while ago it was like I could reflect what he was feeling and he could feel what I was feeling. Like a momentary sharing that was absolute.” She looked back to Ben. “I have had physical contact with others and while I think I might read them deeper that way nothing like that has happened before, so our guess is that it’s both because we spent time in the Nexus.”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

“I am also very confident in that assertion,” he said in a low voice, not wanting to bring too much attention to himself. Unfortunately, the less the doctor knew, the less unhappy he would be. He was sure though that details of their escapade were unnecessary. He only needed to know the important things after all.

-Lt. Commander Orvos Legen, CE

Ben looked at Orvos and raised an eyebrow at his comment then returned his attention to Janna “I see” He pulled a PaDD from a desk drawer, cleared the information and tapped absently with his right hand, not looking down at what he was writing “And has physical contact with others who haven’t shared your Nexus experience brought forth similar feelings of… connection?” He asked.
