Smiling beneath their kiss, Janna felt an overwhelming rightness about this all. As if a missing piece had fallen into place. Pulling back for a moment, she gazed into his eyes. “You’re a good man, Orvos. And if you let me, I think I can show you how true that is,” she said. “But before then, I think maybe we should really break those rules again,” she said, a thrill of excitement running through her. She had never felt so alive than she had in this moment.

Orvos simply laughed, genuine joy emanating from him like never before. “Absolutely!” he said enthusiastically as he leaned over her, one hand on the side of her face, the other gliding along her side as he fully embraced her once again.

A dance, an exchange, a conversation. Everything about the way he touched her made everything brighter and Janna wasn’t sure whether it was them and that chemistry that had never diminished in the years they had known each other, or whether it was a product of their shared time in the Nexus. Maybe it was both. Regardless, Janna was keen to get to know the nuance of this brightness and let it seep into her every pore.

Closing the gap and kissing him, she felt happy, content.

Water lapped at the shore, the sound beckoning to a woman standing there, head tipped upwards and her blond hair glowing beneath the sun.

Adolescent eyes watched her curiously. “Mom? What are you doing?”

“Being, Buttercup.”

“Being.”

“That’s right!”

Janna grinned. Sara Kingston could be a stickler for the rules and yet sometimes she baffled her daughter by her random freeness. But it was beautiful to see. Not wanting to interrupt, she got up from the large piece of driftwood she’d been sitting on and moved back up the beach to the park area. Her grin widened as she saw the dark form of Grady standing at the top of the hill. She broke into a jog, easily climbing the grassy knoll and flung herself into his arms. He caught her with a deep kiss. Young love at its finest.

Her hands moved over his skin, tracing the line of his shoulder as she shifted her weight, letting him roll her onto her back. Janna’s fingertips left electricity in their wake. For a brief moment she wanted this night to never end. After having take so long to get here, she just wanted to savour every single second. But the wonderful thing about all their patience and the way they had worked through the complicated events in the Nexus was that there was no rush. They weren’t going anywhere. And despite him being hundreds of years older than her, they still had plenty of time.

Had he been drink prior to all of this? Yes. But this was an entirely different kind of intoxication. It left him in a euphoria he hadn’t felt in a very long time. A part of him worried how long it would last, but it quickly lost the battle as his mind pushed any doubts aside. Janna, the beautiful woman who had captivated him years ago, was letting him continue the pursuit of her. He could feel her joy in it, and it only served to amplify his own as he slowly leaned over her. There was no insane rush of fervent passion as their had been some time a bit ago when all the touching started. But the fire was definitely still there ablaze as his hands ran up and down her body slowly, and the kisses became tender and purposeful.

Orvos was laughing lightly as he pulled along a woman who looked strikingly familiar to Janna. Long blonde curls cascaded further down her back though, and their was a different type of youthfulness about her. She was also wearing a light, cream colored gown. The night sky was dotted by stars and clouds roiling in the distance.

Orvos was on a mission…the lake.

They had reached the shore, happy but out of breathe. “It’ll happen, you wait and see,” he said with a grin as he slowly made his way closer to the water.

She shook her head laughing. “You don’t know that for sure,” she said with playful doubt.

Orvos watched the water and the sky, waiting for the clouds to continue their quick growth.

Goosebumps quivered under her touch as he relished every detail. Her soft skin. Her blonde curls. Her caring eyes. And her inhibitions totally cast aside. He never thought a day like this would arrive. He was glad to have been proven wrong. He kissed her deeply now, but the urgency still tapered down. He savored it all. His left hand slowly, but firmly took in the details of every curve as it glided down her side, his right hand entangling itself gently in her hair. Happy was probably the tamest word he would use at the moment.
