Benjamin was reading over the notes he’d made, nodding at their answers “Ah yes good, good…” He suddenly paused and wrinkled his nose, something odd happened there, a slight change in the scent of the room. He looked up and sniffed twice, looking between Janna and Orvos and frowning. He quickly wrote something else down on his “I see, quite. Indeed” He muttered as he finished writing down his notes =^=Grey to Sickbay Three, I need you to clear it out for me, I’ll be needing it for a few hours, relocate to Sickbay two for the meanwhile=^= He ordered then looked at Janna with a smile, “I think it would be best if we’d conclude these tests as soon as possible” He interlocked his fingers “Can’t have our counselor out for too long, I trust you can clear your schedule Commander,” He said looking at Orvos.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Consider it done,” replied Orvos. As he averted the CMO’s gaze. The good doctor seemed to be making observations, and they were likely accurate. Orvos was never fond of having too many people close to him or knowing his business.

Orvos then gestured to the door. “Shall we?” he asked with a half-grin.

With a nod, Janna rose to her feet and moved out of the room and towards the exit.

As they navigated the corridors to the lift, Janna was quiet and pensive. “Just a head up that while I clearly don’t have issues with medical personnel, I spent a lot of time being poked and prodded, and having all sort of tests and procedures. If I seem… growly, at times, just know it’s not about either of you. It’s just not a time I like to revisit much, even in my head.”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Benjamin shrugged as the trio entered the lift =^=Deck 39=^= He ordered the Computer “It’s not an uncommon reaction I’ve found since joining the fleet” He said conversationally “Unfortunately this situation does call for some testing” He clasped hands before him as the lift sped through the decks.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“I know that,” Janna said softly. “I’m just asking for consideration and at least an attempt at just seeing me as a medical oddity. Not that I am assuming you would, Ben, but it’s just a warning that I’m more… sensitive to it than others might be.”

The lift sped along and soon admitted them onto Deck 39. Janna stepped out and followed trying to not seem reluctant. She was curious yes, but there was a fear underneath she couldn’t quite shake. She longed to reach out and hold Orvos’ hand for comfort, but would never dream of being less than professional in public, especially right now.

Following the doctor’s lead, he stepped out quietly beside Janna, hoping that his quiet confidence could be felt by her. His empathic senses told him that she was perhaps anxious or nervous. He looked to her as the moved, his eyes hoping to catch hers as he offered a grin. It was a grin she had grown accustomed to. He met her eyes, not breaking away in the hopes to reassure her that no matter how things went here, she was a person to him. A part of him was still stuck on their moment earlier in her quarters, and how it really hadn’t felt finished? Finished wasn’t the right word though. Deep down he wanted it to continue. A part of his cheeks turned a very slight shade of pink as he quickly turned back to see himself nearly walk into the door way. Thankfully he caught himself before hitting it as they moved inside.

It didn’t take them long to reach Sickbay Three and Janna was grateful they could have some privacy in the smaller of the med bays. She was nervous about the tests, not because of the actual tests themselves, but about what they might reveal and the consequences it would have on her life. On Orvos. On both of them. Could they handle whatever the outcome was? At this point she had no clue.

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos was also nervous but he kept that to himself. He was able to sense her nerves through his own El Aurian empathy. He started to reach out behind her to reassure her, but quickly brought his hand back down realizing he was already trying to break what rules had apparently already been established. To not touch her after what they had just discovered in her quarters? It was insane…but understandable.

Benjamin had some great experience at ignoring whatever happened around him if he deemed it socially uncomfortable so he simply did that as they left the turbolift and entered the smallest of the three sickbays on the Athena. He started preparing a Biobed and some additional medical equipment “Please have a seat when you’re ready Janna” among the equipment prepared he grabbed a neurocortical monitor and placed it on a tray that he pulled towards the bed. “When you’re ready please place this on your neck just below your ear, I’d like to avoid physical contact until we have a confirmed reading.”

Janna picked up the monitor and eyed it and then Ben. “Gee, pariah already,” she deadpanned before breaking into a smirk. Did it bother her? Maybe a little, but again, she understood the necessity of it. Affixing the device securely, she nodded.

Ben then started tapping on the bed console “Now for now I’ll keep it simple, we’ll start with a few control questions, I’ll be monitoring neural activity. The next step is having you and Orvos touch, we’ll start with a simple digit to digit contact for a few seconds then move on. For today we’ll limit ourselves to a single person” He didn’t say that they probably wouldn’t mind the contact, now wasn’t the time for wiseass comments.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Okay,” Kingston said with a nod. He’d have her baseline readings on file so it was easy to compare and Ben could already see based on the basic readings of her brain that Janna had far more neurons than her previous scan. Like her brain had been rapidly forming connections.

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos stood by, content that he too wasn’t being examined. Though he suspected he likely would be next when they discovered that there was a much more unique connection between he and Janna. He already knew there was.

Benjamin read the scan results, he occasionally muttered something not in Federation Standard and nodded to himself “Ok, Mr Legen, Please touch the tip of your forefinger with the tip of Kingston’s. Janna I want you to vocally describe your experience if you can.” He said fully engrossing himself in the work.

Dr Grey - CMO

Orvos approached her, already able to sense her feelings with his own brand of El Aurian empathy. He brought his fingertip up, puzzled at the idea that a lone finger might do anything after the embrace they experienced earlier. “Just one fingertip, doc?” he said with some mild amusement as his eyes remained entirely on Janna’s. He held it out to her, glad to have the assistance of an audience. If it weren’t for chaperones, he likely would be doing much more with his finger than simply touching one of her own. He tried to catch those thoughts before they became manifest, burying them and hoping they wouldn’t be overtly embarrassing for them.
