(snip) * A few minutes later, Faye strolled in to the dining room where she was meeting Dag for lunch, their final meal on the Ruby Soho and of their honeymoon.

Taking a chair, turning it around and straddling it, she gazed deeply at her new husband. “You’re going to get so sick of me. I mean all of those extra meetings. Oh, and I’m getting more resources so naturally I’m going to be dealing with the man who deals with resources. But dude, seriously, are you sure about this whole living and working together thing? Because sitting in Senior Staff meetings together is going to be a whole different challenge than we anticipated.”

~Faye Calloway, CIO

Daggum was playing cards with the Vulcan First Officer, a pastime the two had fallen into about a week into the cruise. Without looking up at Faye, he grinned and said “Oh, I think I can manage. Although the temptation to throw you on the Conference table and have my way with you will be an urge I’ll have to fight.” He laid down his cards and looked at his opponent and grinned. “Gin.” and he turned and looked at Faye.

She snorted.

“So… new CIO, huh? How does that feel?” he asked, his eyes sparkling.

Arms folded on the table, Faye momentarily shook her head at the First Officer. “Dralid, I hope you’re not taking these losses personally, because he has been whooping your ass for awhile now.”

“That would be an emotional response my species is above, Faye. Besides…” and she looked at Daggum, “… I am convinced he cheats.” Dag smiled and said “I didn’t do it, no one saw me do it, you can’t prove a damn thing.” An ar hed eyebrow was all the response he got, but she began shuffling cards.

Shifting her attention back to Daggum, Faye blew out a breath. “You know, had things not been so screwy on the Manhattan when I arrived, that would have been my role. But to be honest, I wasn’t ready. I had to figure myself out first. Now though? Now I’m ready. I’ve never been so ready in my life, Dag. It feels good. Though I’m gutted not to work with Stark. He seemed to… get me. It felt good to know I had another person on my side before I even arrived.” She shrugged. “Oh well, Starfleet, what can you do?”

~Faye Calloway

“Wish for the best, prepare for the worst, and settle for anything in between. Honestly, wife… I think that should be Fleets motto.” Daggum replied and picked up his cards and grinned. He lifted the face up seven of spades and laid out all his cards. “Gin.” This time, he actually illicit a soft curse from the Vulcan.

Daggum

Faye grinned. “We’ve got an hour. Quick bite to eat and then finish getting ready?” she said, gazing at him intently. “Though I’m pretty sure the Athena has replicators too, so maybe we can make the most of these final moments of our honeymoon?” Her grey-green eyes drank Daggum in with more than a little bit of hunger.

After tending to a few… needs, and gathering their belongings, and Tess, the ship came out of warp and approached the rendezvous point right on time. Faye and Daggum had made their way to the transporter room, knowing their stuff would be beamed aboard after them. Mostly it was Faye’s stuff of course, but also the things they had collected from their travels the last couple of weeks.

On the Bridge of the Athena, they received a hail.

||GreetingsThis is the Ruby Soho. I do believe we have a special delivery for you.|

~Faye Calloway, Incoming CIO

Orvos was on the bridge at this point getting a feel for the center chair for the time being.

“Sir, the Ruby Soho is ready for a special delivery?” It was clear the ensign was out of the loop. Orvos was ready for their ‘special delivery’ for awhile now.

“Ah, yes. Have them deliver the package to transporter room 1,” he said in a rather ominous tone. “Mr. R’han you have the bridge.”

Orvos then stood up and made his way to the turbolift, hoping to come across as a bit strange for the moment. He totally expected the COO and CIO to arrive together, but he wasn’t sure who else had known that.

When the lift brought him to the appropriate deck, Orvos walked out and strolled into the transporter room. He stood hands behind his back as awaited the transport.
