“Colour me intrigued,” she said, breaking into a grin. “Work things are actually usually the easier side of things for me. I don’t have issues working with others, it’s the awkward social stuff off-duty that I’ve struggled with before.” Her mind was working. So tell me what you can about this project, though if we need to wait till we’re somewhere less public, that’s fine. Oh! And while I can’t explain the details, a previous Captain of mine told me most people in charge like to now when there are classified things going on, so while it won’t affect anyone here I’ll be spending some time working with a special bit of tech for another R&D work group.” Faye’s grin grew. “I get to see if I can break it so they can make it better.” She was so looking forward to it, though she had poked around a little while on her honeymoon.

“You’re starting to sound much more like an engineer!” He said with amusement.

“Hey, I used to repair shuttles with my Dad back in the days of the Maquis. I know my way around systems,” Faye said. There were a lot of people she could casually drop the name of that particular group into conversation with as a test, but with Legen it was really not necessary. That much she was certain of. “But I did start out as a scientist. Trust me Commander, I’m multi-skilled and full of surprises.”

“I look forward to see it all at work,” he said with a warm expression.

Orvos kept the amused grin on his face, even as the turbolift came to a halt. “That’s us. Follow me.”

The first officer briskly left the lift and entered the Briefing Room not far from it.

Though she had memorized the spec with her near-eidetic memory, she was making a visual map as they went, studying the nuances of the place she hoped would become home as well.

After the doors closed, he turned to face Calloway. “Your codes should work. You can secure the room if you like.”

“How efficient!” she said, smirking. “And yes, I think I will, though how necessary remained to be seen. Moving over to the large viewscreen with interface, the fingers of Faye’s right hand moved swiftly and then there was a chirp of acknowledgement by the computer. “There, all good.”

He then moved to the replicator in the room. “Drink?” He inquired as he dug in his pocket for some sort of slim computer chip like device.

“Coffee, please. I’ll probably be buzzing by this evening, but I have a lot to do today and travelling is more tiring than I remember.”

Orvos acquired her beverage and brought it over with a cold iced tea for himself. Next to the coffee he set down a chip that was pulsating a blue and purple hue.

Though her fingers slipped around the handle of the mug, Faye’s eyes were intensely focused on the chip. Bending slightly at the hips, she stared at it as if she might be able to dissect it with a glance.

“There’s your second project,” he stated before gesturing to a small newly built platform on the table. “You can plug her in if you want, since we have time” He then took a sip of his tea.

“Her?” Faye took a sip of the coffee and set the mug down on the table. Picking up the chip she slid it into the platform, clearly intrigued. Then again, there was nothing more than Faye loved more than a puzzle.

The chip began to activate the small platform and a holoimage appeared of a woman with a blueish white shirt and tights appeared. Her dark hair came down to the nape of her neck and her eyes were a digitized blue.

“Oh!” she exclaimed as she surveyed the room, Orvos, and finally Faye. “Updating…complete. Congratulations Commander on your promotion.” She gave a grin.

Orvos gestured to the hologram. “This is our fairly new AI Katrina.”

Katrina looked to Faye as her eyes seemed to be computing. “Well hello there Faye Colloway. It’s been quite some time hasn’t it?” she inquired thoughtfully.

Orvos turned to Faye with a raised eyebrow, the obvious question being wordlessly spoken.
