Brows arched, Janna took a large sip of her drink. “Wow, Orion. That’s a step. What made you decide to do that?” She could hazard a guess that it was some sort of closure but still, to take his new wife there was definitely a step. Though she had no idea just how big it was for the couple. She only knew one half of them.

Daggum chuckled. “We both have… history… there. So we are gonna put some ghosts to rest and try to start the marriage off as baggage-free as we can. Plus, I think it may give her and I a better idea of of where we come from and how we came to be.”

Daggum, Ops

The part of her that was shifting and only partly known could almost read between the spaces and feel the unsaid. It was just a feeling though. She knew nothing more strongly without touch at this point, but as she gazed at him Janna could understand that there were only a few ways a history on Orion could play, especially history that counted as baggage. “Go gently,” she said softly, her grass green eyes intense. “Even if all seems well. Go gently. Trust me when I say that no matter how willing you both are, old trauma might play out much differently than you can even anticipate. Have a back up plan in case things go badly at all.” She had no doubt he’d watch out for his new wife, that wasn’t the issue. But two people each trying to reconcile something from long ago? It could go really well, or badly. Or maybe they would find something in the middle. But best be prepared for anything.

“Oh, I do. We will have eyes on us all the time. And I’m not going to push things. If it just starts getting weird, we are outta there.”

Janna nodded.

“But I applaud your desire to start out with a deeper understanding of each other’s pasts. I think especially since you’ve been doing the long-distance thing that it will bode well for your life here on the Athena.

Daggum nodded and said “I hope so. Thats the idea, anyway. You know, I cant wait for you to meet her. Maybe the three of us could have dinner sometime. I think you two will get along really well. Well, or you might want to kill each other. With Faye, there really isn’t any middle ground.” and he laughed.

Daggum

She grinned. “I know how that can be. But don’t you worry, it’s not me you have to worry about. Not all people are happy to be chummy with the counsellor. Sp we’ll see how it goes and if she’s okay with it, I’d love to have dinner with both of you.” And she meant it. Daggum was going through a huge transition and she considered him a friend. She’d be there to help him through it and make sure him and Faye settled into life on the ship as a couple.

Daggum reached out and covered her hand with his immense green one. “You are a good friend, Janna. And I hope you know that I don’t say that lightly.”

Hammor, Ops

She gave him a lopsided grin as his hand engulfed hers. “I do try. It also helps that I’ve dealt with all kinds of people with all kinds of issues. But I’ll admit something to you Daggum. I actually haven’t had a proper friend in years. I am friendly with people, but life in Starfleet is hard and to be honest I’m usually so busy, especially on this ship, that I barely have time to decompress as it is. So fair warning, you might need to drag me out of my office here and there.”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Daggum laughed and said “You and Faye both… I guess I have a type after all.” and he laughed and gently squeezed her hand before letting go. He waved the server over and ordered more drinks and more food. “Well, you have a proper friend now. And don’t think I won’t walk in your office and carry you out. I’ve done it before.” and he laughed.

Daggum

She laughed as well. “Yeah, and I suspect I won’t have much of a chance to convince you otherwise.” Janna knocked back a large amount of her drink and felt suddenly warmed. She grinned at the server. Two more of these,” she said pointing to the drink. “And a plate of honey-garlic wings.” She cast her gaze to Daggum. “So you don’t have to share,” she said with a wink.

Janna downed the rest of her drink as the server set down the next two and she eyed them before eyeing Daggum. “Risks huh? Would you believe I’ve never been drunk? Nothing more than a pleasant buzz.”
