Janna didn’t expect him to simply jump into the exercise so quickly and without resistance, but ever one to go where her patient’s went, Janna rose to her feet and gazed at Shock with a neutral expression. She knew almost nothing about this Tkar, but it mattered little. This wasn’t about her acting skills, but how Shock processed his own reactions and approach to the situation.

She adopted a look of surprise. “Shock! I was not expecting to see you again. What brings you here?”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Shock tried act as naturally as possible. Obviously, Kingston did not look at all, nor sound like, or appear like Tkar, but that was not the point, or so he thought. He was not quite sure what the point was, but he trusted Kingston’s psychological expertise.

“I wish to speak to you about our last parting. Are you willing to join me in that conversation, and if so, do you have the time now?”

He decided he’d get right to the point. Slightly unrealistic, perhaps, but logic would dictate that he needed to get his point across before Tkar had a chance to run away. Did he fear Tkar running away? Hm, he’d remember that thought until his and Kingston’s debrief afterwards. He assumed there would be a debrief any way.

Janna stiffened and folded her arms across her chest. “I suppose I have time,” she said nonchalantly, avoiding Shock’s gaze. “What is it you have to say?”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Shock took a deep breath, and gathered his thoughts. This was harder than he had anticipated.

“I have wronged you.” he said, looking at “Tkar”. “I wish I had allowed us to speak with one another after our night of intimacy.” Shock wanted to explain why he didn’t, but he did not think it would help the situation right now. “I wish I had allowed us more time to be with one another. I regret my actions, and I have wronged you, and in so doing, I have wronged us.”

There, he had said it. He looked at “Tkar” again, gauging “his” reaction. What would now happen?

He knew of course this wasn’t Tkar, but he had found words that were as honest as he could make them. He just really wished he had said this to Tkar, that Janna was Tkar.
