Lifting her head, her smile was deep and warm. “I appreciate you looking out for me, I do. But the weird thing about being on what I assumed was a one-sided crush, is that I know and understand that I’ve been in this longer than he has. Or… that’s what I thought. But I know better now. I know there was fear on both our parts. That there were reasons why he held back, and I knew him just well enough to know that if I pushed too hard I’d scare him off. You told me that if I never took any risks, I’d regret not living my life more fully. Well, I can’t take risk with my body without risking my life unnecessarily. So the only thing I can risk is my heart. Could that be harder if it goes badly? Yeah. But you want to know how how many people I’ve had flings, relationships, encounters with since I arrived on this ship five years ago?” She held up her her fingers formed into a circle.

“We’re not so different, you and I. We’ve both been on a potentially one-sided relationship that isn’t so one-sided. You’re giving me hope, my friend,” Janna said before lifting her glass again and downing the rest of it. She signalled to the server for third.

Daggum leaned back and smiled. “Ok, as long as you are good with it, so am I. But you tell him that if he screws up, there is a certain someone that will make hi life hell. Now, I’m not one of these ‘You make her cry I make you cry.’ types. I prefer a more… subtle… approach. You know… his sonic shower is just a bit too strong or too weak at random… turbolifts always take him to the wrong deck…the replicators only make him gagh. That kind of thing. And I’m the Operations guy… I can totally do it.” and he laughed.

Daggum

She laughed too. A part of her really wanted to tell him who it was, but the other part of her was having a hard time processing everything that had happened. “I’m a big girl, Daggum. If things don’t go the way they hope, it won’t be because he and I didn’t try. It’s just all very… complicated.” The server returned with another drink and Janna accepted it with a ‘thanks’ and took a deep sip. She was feeling a bit tingly thus far and was minded to keep going.

“You want to know what’s weird? I’m going to be going through all this testing to see what’s changing, how my abilities may be increasing. We already know that I’ve had a significant increase in neural connections and sign it’s going to stop. But… it puts me on edge too. Because after the incident that gave me the haemophilia I was practically a lab rat. I couldn’t leave Sickbay and it was tests upon tests upon tests. I hated it. And being back in Sickbay with Ben curiously testing my responses was very odd and put me on edge. I know it’s necessary to keep tabs on the changes I’m going through, but there’s a big part of me that wants to fight it.”

OOC: I am absolutely loving this thread! It would be hysterical for Orvos to find out that someone has been engineering misdirections on him. lol.

OOC: Slip up and see how funny you think it is! LOL

IC: Daggum nodded. “Thats perfectly understandable, I think. I mean, it was a huge invasion of your person. Trust me, I know what thats like.” and he took a drink and picked up a drumstick. “I think wanting to rail against it is normal. But that’s where we have to use our head. Realize we need that information they’re looking for. Then its just a matter of thinking about it as a transaction. ‘I need this, and that is the price for it.’.” He put the chicken in his mouth and pulled the bone out without a speck of meat on it and washed it down with some more beer.

Daggum

Janna downed more of her fresh drink. “I’m trying to lean into what Doctor Kingston thinks about all of this. At least if indulge my researcher brain, it takes the edge off of the whole situation. That and I’m not exactly in this alone. The person I connected with is also going to be tested here and there too. Because nothing says budding relationship like being scanned while you touch,” she said with a laugh.
