He smiled back. “Ice cold water, please!” He said politely. He continued to look around the room. He quite liked it.

“That I can do,” Kingston. She ordered the water and her coffee and moved back to the sitting area, setting the water in front of Haroon and taking a seat in the armchair. She crossed her legs at the knee and took a sip. “So, Ensign, tell me what you’re excited about being on the Athena.”

The ensign took his water and took a sip, also crossing his legs by putting one ankle on top of the other knee. “Meeting the new crew. And I’m excited for what science experiments I will perform.”

“What fascinates you most about science?” Janna asked, picking that question out of a myriad of possible next questions. It was based on as much his words as it was her own intuition about the next logical way to proceed.

“Astronomy is my favorite subject. Space always fascinated me very much.” He said. “The stars in particular. They are the most beautiful things I can think of, both from a scientific standpoint and just to look at.”
