It was time for Jordy’s away team training exercise.

Shock had set up the holodeck in the form of the inside of a shuttle craft. Once Jordy would come, the next events would be in store.

Shock had three selected of his rookie crewmen to join Jordy on this exercise (there would be two more joining later, if Jordy passed this test).

They were:

  • Skaarg, a Tellarite man.
  • Rasal, a Coridanite woman.
  • Zheng Longhua, a human woman.

Skaarg, Rasal and Zheng were with Shock, and waited for Jordy to arrive. He was due any minute now…

– Shock

Jordy entered the holodeck ‘Hello sir,Mr Skaarg, Mrs Rasal and Mrs Longhua, Sir what are we planned to do?.’ Jordy said

“Your mission is to go to the moon below. There is a stranded shuttle there whose crew needs evacuating.”

“Mr Kleine, you’re in charge. Ms Zheng is an able pilot, I’d recommend allowing her pilot this shuttle down. I’ll be observing, so imagine I’m not here.” (OOC: I’ll narrate what’s happening)

The moon below is similar to Earth’s moon – and our shuttle is in orbit of it. The moon has no atmosphere. The stranded shuttle has a crew of three persons, and they’re losing oxygen quickly. They have about an hour before they’d die.

“Sir?” – it was Skaarg talking to Kleine. “What are your orders?”

– Lt Shock (COS)

‘Ms Zheng you pilot the shuttle put us down as close to the stranded shuttle as possible you will wait in the shuttle till we return, the rest put on environmental suits we will get out of the shuttle, get into the stranded shuttle, we rescue the stranded crewman and take them aboard the shuttle and get back to the ship as quick as possible, any questions?’ Jordy asked looking at the group he hoped that he made a good plan and that the team understands his plan.

Shock listened to Kleine’s plan. It was an impressive one. Kleine communicated clearly and efficiently.

Zheng stated piloting the shuttle down toward the surface. It was an easy ride so far. There was, however, a small problem.

“Sir, there is no good landing place close to the shuttle. It would be too dangerous. I have to land it 2 kilometres away,” she said as a matter of fact. And so she did.

Through the shuttle window, they could see the other shuttle 2 km away. Without an atmosphere to occlude, it looked closer than it would be.

Meanwhile, Skaarg and Rasal put on their space suits.

“Sir,” Skaarg said, turning to Kleine, “what do we do if the other shuttle doesn’t have any suits for their crew?”

– Lt Shock (COS)

‘Do we have 3 spare space suits?’ Jordy said as he looked outside looking for the shuttle.

Had he been human, Shock would have smiled proudly. But he was not human, and he did not smile. He observed how the crewmen acted on Jordy’s hint and started looking in the cupboards in the back of the shuttle.

“Sir!”, Rasal called out, “I’ve found them!”

“But sir,” Skaarg interjected, “How could we possibly take them with us? Do we know if they even need them?”

Shock was impressed by Skaarg’s question. He’d need to follow Skaarg’s progress too. As much as this was training for Jordy, it was training for these novice crewmen too. Today would certainly prove educative for everyone involved, Shock included.

– Lt Shock (COS)

‘Good questions but we do not know if they have space suits aboard if they do then they don’t need ours but if they don’t then they need ours. And do we have anything to take the suits with us otherwise we have to carry them.’ Jordy said as he started looking around for something to put the suits in. ‘How many minutes till they run out of oxygen?’

Ensign Jordy Kleine Security

“We have about 35 minutes,” replied Zhang.

Upon hearing that and Kleine’s order, the crewmen fumbled to find a way to carry the spare suits. “Anything else we might need, sir?” asked one of them.

– Lt Shock (COS)

‘Not that i know. Have you all found something?’ Jordy Asked.

Ensign Jordy Kleine Security

“Yes sir,”

“Aye, sir”

Rasal led the team to the airlock. Time was of an essence. They were 1873 metres away from the other shuttle, the terrain not too good, but at least, the gravity was low. They might be able to hop there way ahead of time.

“Are you ready, sir?”

Skaarg had joined Rasal in the airlock, they had their pressure suits on. Now they were just waiting for Jordy to lead them.

– Lt Shock (COS)

‘Im ready. Ms Zheng be ready to pick us up if we are in trouble. also try to find a place closer to the other shuttle that is safe enough to land on for a few minutes.’ Jordy said as he taked a deep breath and he said. ‘Open the airlock.’

Ensign Jordy Kleine Security

“Yes sir,” said Zheng, and let the others out through the airlock.

Now, on the moon’s surface it was completely quiet. The team could hear each other through their helmet intercoms. Gravity was low, slightly lower than on Earth’s Moon, and there was no atmosphere to speak of, thus pressure was extremely low. This was dangerous.

They needed to hurry in a north-north-easterly direction (“two o’clock”). There were boulders and extremely uneven terrains, with deep cracks through the surface. It would be tough.

The team started moving in the direction.

In the end, they got to the shuttle in time.

“We have about fifteen minutes left,” said Skaarg.

“Their airlock seems damaged,” said Rasal.

Rasal moved around, and checked the windows. All crew seemed alive. They waved happily when they saw their rescuers.

But how should they communicate? How could they evacuate when the shuttle’s airlock/door was damaged?

– Lt Shock (COS)

OOC: sorry for my late reply i was very busy and forgot to go in loa.

‘Is there any other way to open the shuttle?’ Jordy asked as he looked around for a solution.

Ensign Jordy Kleine Security

“I don’t know!” said Rasal with voiced anxiety. “If only we could communicate with them in there, ask them if they have suits, and if so, tell them to put them on, then we could use our phasers to open the hull and get them out. But look, they’re still wearing their normal clothes… What should we do Sir?”

– Lt Shock (COS)

‘We have to try to communicate with them maybe non verbal communication.’ Jordy suggested.

Ensign Jordy Kleine Security

“How, sir?” asked Rasal.

– Lt Shock (COS)

‘We try to make them understand us with gestures We try to ask them if they have suits by using gestures.’ Jordy said it was not the best idea but the only one he got.
