He held her hand, realizing how happy he actually was to share things with her. Orvos was genuinely happy, with no need to hide it. The whirlwind was still going, and he didn’t want it to end.

that contact made her body hum and Janna never wanted that feeling to end.

Orvos simply said, “As you wish.” He led her past old buildings and houses from a time long ago. Things were simple here, much like what one might find on the Ba’ku homeworld. But his favorite place was at nearest beach. A storm constantly hovered over the waters and it was here he suspected that Janna had seen him in her dream.

The distance looked grey and gloomy, the occasional zap of lightning in the distance. Rain poured over the waters. But on the beach, all was calm, the water occasionally aglow whenever bolt of lightning struck the water.

She took in the surroundings with an intense gaze, marking the similarities and differences. Confusion traipsed across her features as they went along. This really was happening, wasn’t it? This aspect of their connection was so much more than she could have imagined.

“So,” he said when they finally made it there. “Look familiar at all?” He couldn’t control the pounding of his heart in his chest at this point.

“I’ve been here,” Janna whispered. “I saw it in your drea… your memory. This was a real moment that happened, wasn’t it?” she asked, bewildered but also awed.

Janna’s widened. “What do you think is happening with us? This does not sound like any El Aurian abilities I’ve heard about.”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos gave her a gentle smile. “It’s not quite any El Aurian ability. Out of curiosity though, which ones have you heard of? Hmmm?” He asked out of curiosity as he took a seat on the beach and patted down the sand next to him.

Janna settled next to him with her knees up and arms draped overtop. “I know most are empathic to varying degrees, and that you can sense disturbances in time-space. Beyond that I can speculate based on the ones I know about, and you. I can say that you have a deep intuition about things and are in tune with everything around you. Does that sound close?”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos nodded slowly. “You’re mostly right. We can definitely sense shifts and changes in the space-time continuum. Temporal things tend to make me feel a bit uneasy. We also have a lengthy lifespan typically. And we are minor to moderately empathic.”

All that made sense to her and so Janna nodded.

Orvos looked over at her, his eyes traversing her body but not in any overly lustful way. He was taking in the sight of her…here…and committing it to memory.

“As to what’s happening to us, there’s only so much I truly know. My time in the Nexus changed me physiologically. I look the same sure, but my senses are a bit broader now than they used to be. And unfortunately…I must go back every now and then to that place. My body can heal rather quickly for my people, but too much time from the Nexus will cause my body to begin breaking down. We discovered it almost too late. But that’s due to the fact that I spentuch too long inside of it before coming out. Won’t happen to you. But it does mean that you and I share this…connection.”

Orvos met her eyes. “I’m not complaining though. Not in the slightest.” He put a hand on her tenderly, his eyes and mind searching her for the feelings she felt.

Maybe at some point she would acclimate to the sensation his touch caused on her skin but for Janna just accepted the tingles as a moment for her to process. NOt that she was complaining either. Concern for him radiated off her and Janna gazed at him, her grass green eyes intense. “When you say you have to return, how often and how do you even go about that? The whole thing with Kivon was unpredicted, wasn’t it?”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos nodded. “Kivon was definitely not on the agenda. It varies to be fair. I’ve gone months to years without having to go back. I have a place that I own, hidden away that nobody has been to. I’m an engineer naturally, so I’ve built there a shuttle of sorts to get me where I need to go. Not always easy. To be honest, it can be quite annoying. I only know to go when that drive hits me. It’s almost like an addiction. But it’s not one I particularly want. I spent way too much time in it, and now I must endure the consequences.”

There was a part of him that understood and accepted his fate, but there was another part that greatly disliked it.

Janna gazed at the lightning periodically striking the water before looking back at him. “Who else on this ship knows about this need to return to the Nexus?” She already suspected she knew the answer but it was important they establish this fact very clearly. After all, it wasn’t just him anymore. He was the captain of a starship, responsible for the lives of many.

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos sighed, confident it would not be an answer that was liked. “Currently on the ship? You’re the only other one. So many different faces and I’ve barely had time to get to know many of them, let alone trust them with such information.” He looked back to her, his hand reaching gently to brush a strand of hair out of her face.

“You’ve been a good constant for me,” he added with a sheepish grin.
