Serena nodded, forgetting for a second that Captain Legen couldn’t see her. =^=Acknowledged, Athena.=^= Serena tightened her jaw and her neck felt stiff. She fought the urge to run her fingers through her hair to scrub at the mental cobwebs. This whole damn thing is giving me a headache, she thought darkly. “Okay, so is this just a matter of shoving the Shai back through the anomaly? Can we send a probe through for a peek?”

Lt Cmdr Stone, XO

“Could, but I doubt we would get anything back… unless…” and he spun his bulk in the chair and said “What if both the Athena and the Shai did it at the same time? Two probes into the space at the same time, each with a distinct chroniton signature. Might give us an idea if the rift will allow movement both directions.”

Hammor, Ops

Liam’s words seemed to become a reality when Orvos hailed them. As the XO finished, he could almost feel her frustration that matched his own. This whole thing was nothing, but a mess. Then again that was quantum physics in general. He took a moment to weigh on the probe idea and what they knew.

Finally breaking his thoughts, Liam pushed past the rising headache to speak.

“Though I feel like Hammor might be right, I say we try both. It might reveal something we missed or come back empty. ” Liam held doubt this event was as easy as reversing the two ships and letting the abnormally dissipate.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

“A negative result or a result of nothing is still a result,” Serena agreed. “I think it’s worth a shot. Do we launch from the Shai, or let them launch in their time?”

Stone, XO

((Don’t forget to cross-post your dialogue to the main sim bridge thread since we are on open comms, which means they hear everything we say, and we hear everything they say.))

((Bump))

“Let’s do it. Science let’s launch another probe into the rift.” stated the captain. =/\=Away team if you can manage to send a message to the Shai bridge, that would be ever so helpful!=/\=

Orvos then turned his attention to the open channel with Kingston. =/\=Janna, we’re hoping to relay a message to the Shai bridge to launch a probe. We’re hoping that we can get some better readings or understanding of our situation that way.=/\= He caught the slight slip up in name usage, but did not remark on it aloud. He simply let it slide as though nothing had happened as he waited for her reply.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

In the chatter of the bridge, the away team would also hear Kingston’s reply and Faye’s remarks.

=/\=Understood, Captain,=/\= Janna said, her tone even. =/\=We have some sort of detectable time dilation down here. It seems to be why I appear to be in Counsellor Jannson’s office and yet we can all communicate. The… phenomenon is something I can feel.=/\=

=/\=The obvious solution is to simply turn off the tractor beam, but we don’t know what will happen if we do so with the away team over there, and we might lose our ability to communicate with the Shai’s crew,=/\=Faye said.

~Janna Kingston, CNS & Faye Calloway, CIO

Hammor began tapping entries into the logs, and specifcally asked them to send their current ahip’s time so they could begin to synch their launches.

Hammor, Ops

There was a sudden sound over the comms. =/\=Jannson to bridge-=/\= and then it was cut off. A reply came back to Hammor that it was 13:21. Exactly the same as Athena time.

A probe launched from each ship. As they collided, they froze in place and began to emanate a sickly green light.

-GM

Hammor immediately began trasferring all the probe data he could to the science console while also monitoring the probes themselves.

Hammor, Ops

Reports came back from the probe launched by the Athena that the probe they had launched was moving forward in time at an alarming rate. A message came from the crew of the Shai. It read This is bad.

-GM

As Liam began to analyze the data, comparing it to the current batch. His heart dropped into his stomach slightly causing him to inhale sharply. Immediately, he relayed the information to the rest.

“The probes are moving forward in time at an alarming rate…”

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

This time, the captain’s voice came through in a somewhat strained fashion. =/\=I’m getting a strange sense of things. Feels like…ugh…a tide. A tide that both us and the Shai are caught in. Looking at that probe and the results on our end, it would seem we are being pulled in by this ‘temporal tide’ while the Shai is…being pushed out.=/\=

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Hammor cursed and brough the engines fully online. “We’re getting switched. Shai out and Athena in.” His first thought was to try and reverse as hard and as fast as they could, but then a thought occurred to him. “Two objects cant occupy the same space at the same time. The rift is trying to push us out and pull the Athena in… what if we try and go forward? Further into the rift? Before the Athena gets there?”

Hammor, Ops
