She took a forkful and made a show of wrapping her lips around the tines and slowly pulling the fork out. Because she could and she wasn’t above both teasing Daggum and also winding him up as needed. But really, it was nice to sit here and share a nice quiet meal. They didn’t get this all the time and their schedules could be a little all over the place, though really Faye could set her own schedule outside of her command training stuff. Still, they were both busy, and it had been hectic since the moment her foot touched the Athena’s decks.

Daggum watched her and then chuckled. “Keep it up, woman. Much more of that and we will miss dessert.” and he laughed.
Daggum
“But I like dessert,” she said with a lopsided grin and took a normal bite, though wasn’t above gazing coyly from beneath her lashes. But she didn’t provoke him further and continued with her meal, especially enjoying the beef tips. She had such amazing memories of this meal and it was easily to be happy in this moment with him.
Finally, she had had enough and pushed her plate to the side. Folding her arms on the table, Faye gazed at Daggum as if she was trying to figure something out. “Nope, still can’t figure out the ways of the crazy Universe. All I know if that we found each other. It makes absolutely no sense, but somehow all the sense. If that makes sense,” she said, breaking into a grin.

“It makes perfect sense… because we are suppossed to be together. ” Daggum said matter-of-factly. “It’s like gravity. Or perpetual motion machines. Or Ferengi charities. No one knows why they are, or how they work, but there it is… and here we are.” and he grinned at her.
Daggum
“I want there to be a rational reason, so I just tell myself that loveliness owed to me for all the crap I’ve gone through,” Faye said with a grin. “Does that seem reasonable? Because it works for you too, Gem.” gazing at him, her heart just felt so full in this moment and it made her love him just a tiny bit more (if that were possible). After all, he had gone ahead and made them their first date meal. How awesome was that?

“Everyone goes through crap.” Daggum said with a small smile. “Ours may have been more intense than most, sure… but some had it worse. I don’t know how, but I’m sure they are out there. So I don’t thinknwe are owed an ‘us’… but I think it’s a bonus for surviving.”
Daggum
She grinned some more. “Not a bad bonus.”
Faye folded her arms on the table. “So, dinner is amazing, but I can think of things that might be a great finishing note.” They both had a lot of processing to do (him more than her) after the whole mom thing dropped in their laps, but there was only so much they could do in the moment and finding a good distraction seemed like the right course of action.

Daggum leaned back and grinned wickedly at her. “And what, pray tell, did you have in mind exactly?”
Daggum
Faye tapped her fingers on the table with a pensive look. “Hmm. Well, I was sort of thinking in the vein of honouring our amazing first date, that I could dig out those boots of mine.” She didn’t mention anything else that went with the footwear that night.

“Well, I am a fan of those you know.” Daggim said. “But I cannot be held responsible for my actions if you put them on. And last time you wore them… well… look where that got us.” and gestured around them and grinned.
Daggum
Faye fluttered her lashes at him. “My dear, are you saying the boots led to your proposal? I mean, I knew they were powerful, but maybe I’ve been underestimating their powere. If so, I might need to see what else they can do for me.”
~Faye
“As long as you are only experimenting on me, feel free.” Daggum said with a grin. “But the second those boots walk out of this cabin, we are going to have a problem.” and he laughed.
