Dawson wasn’t technically starfleet anymore, but his role on the ship was that of an intelligence officer, without the rank and title obviously. He had done command before. Leading wasn’t difficult for him. But it was nice to let someone else have the reigns every now and then.

He also had not lost his contacts throughout this area of the galaxy. So when news came of a certain ship gone rogue, he felt it time to get certain introductions underway. Obviously a briefing was coming up, but he would make sure to inquire about this…other thing.

Dawson strolled up nonchalantly and pressed the door chime to the intelligence office.

In her modest office, Faye was sitting at her desk with a spread of two desk monitors and two interfaces, plus to wall displays. It was not so unlike how Stark had had it, but she had definitely upgraded and added to the previous set-up. For most people, it was overkill, but for Faye and her kind of work, it was easily manageable.

There was a token chair behind her against the wall.

At the sound of the chime, she pressed a few keys, blanking out her screens in a custom program. “Enter,” she said, swivelling to face her visitor. She presented her usual tidy figure in her impeccable uniform, and her dark brown hair was back in a french braid.

Dawson stepped in wearing all black, his muscular frame likely a strange sight to be seen on an El Aurian. His short hair was neatly kept and he seemed to be sporting the beginnings of unshaved facial hair. “Lt. Commander Faye Calloway? Or is it Faye Hammor now?” he spoke aloud. No longer starfleet, Dawson didn’t feel the pressure of the hierarchy of rank, and the informal was more comfortable him. “I’m Dawson, you’re not-so-starfleet-secret-intelligence-operative.”

He gave her a small smile as he stood at ease in front of her desk.

She leaned back in her chair as she digested his appearance, stance, all the myriad of things she was capable of picking up, save for some of the most crucial. “You were at the debriefing, so how I introduced myself is correct. I am retaining my family surname. Faye Hammor just doesn’t have the same ring to it.” She gestured to the spare chair. “Pull over a chair and tell me what I need to know.”

Dawson grabbed a chair with one strong arm and promptly set it before the desk as he sat in it. “Well, for starters I’ve discovered that apparently Captain Orvos Legen has a fake marriage with Marishka. I don’t have all the details, but its clear that it was to protect her on a remote outpost. There was suspicion that she was being watched. Targeted by a group of klingons out to have a debt paid I believe. I was there to witness the encounter. I decided to do some…research…on Marishka. Former intelligence I believe. They kept the encounter on the down low, but wanted to be careful in case there were any moles aboard the ship. Given both of their backgrounds, I decided to not bring it up. But I thought it may be wise for you to be aware of it.” He paused, taking in her reaction to the strange news, before moving on.

“Cool,” she said, lifting a stylus from the desk and flipping it between her fingers. “Haven’t dealt with a fake marriage before, well… not a legit fake marriage, of course. And I know a little of Marishka’s skills though we haven’t had a chance to have the in-depth chat I was hoping for. I suppose I will make it another priority.”

Faye studied him for a moment, still twirling the stylus. “What does secret Intelligence operative actually mean in reality. Is that tongue-in-cheek, reality, some strange mix of the two? Because I’ll warn you I can’t always tell when people are joking and am more likely to take what you say at face value.”
