It was a little late in the day, but having settled in somewhat, Va’rek felt as if he were able to finally face the meeting he must have with the Athena’s CNS. The Vulcan took his time getting there, making his slow and meandering way to Deck 11 and then wandering the corridors for a few minutes before going directly to the office. So far he’d found the Athena to be a little bit more than he’d bargained for. He had taken this assignment with the hope that he would find a quiet posting, somewhere he could heal and somehow come to terms with the recent events of his life. Va’rek had not expected to find fellow crew members who seemed to both support and encourage him. He’d quite expected that he would, as previously, be left alone to deal with… The things he’d been dealing with. Or, more accurately, avoiding dealing with.

It was with some great trepidation that he found himself arriving at his destination, and took a long moment to try his best to put himself together before he pressed the door chime. He felt unready to face the inquiry of a trained counselor who would undoubtedly be able to see through what small amount of facade he’d been able to maintain thus far. He was afraid, but he knew the time would only make him weaker. It must be done now, while he still had some small strength to focus. In fact, he knew deep down that he needed help. He could not process all of his turmoil on his own, and it had been growing… if he were not able to address it, at least in some small way… He would spiral even further. Perhaps even be unable to function at his job, which was… all he had left now.

Va’rek steeled himself, tried his best to clear his mind, and straightened his uniform. He waited for the door to open and admit him to…who knew what.

(Bump)
OOC: Thanks for the bump

The door swished back to reveal a round large waiting area with three differently coloured doors and a reception desk with a beautiful blonde Risan woman who welcomed him and pointed him to the red door to the left in a very kind voice. This was one big ship!

When Head Counselor Laraan’s red door finally swished back, he saw a standard counseling room, with the addition of a comfy looking sofa and coffee table, two arm chairs and lots of plants.

Laraan was a petite woman. At first she looked like she had curly long red hair, but as she came closer Va’rek saw that in fact she was completely bald, her scalp and neck, as well as her hands were covered in intricate, filigree looking beautiful red tattoos, swirls and spirals interweaving in a way that it looked like hair. Only her face was free of them and it was dominated by her large light-grey eyes. She was most definetly alien, but her smile she gave him was kinda human.

When she spoke her voice sounded alien as well, but very beautiful. Multi-layered, as if she was singing more than saying the words in three different voices at once that formed a harmonious melody with each other. The sound was very pleasing to the ears and the vibration calming… a very handy voice for a counselor.

“Hello Va’rek, welcome to the Athena family.” Laraan sang. “Please take a seat wherever you like. Can I get you somthing to drink?” she asked.

The entire process was a bit… overwhelming. The Vulcan managed to enter and straighten his uniform tunic, which wasn’t quite as pressed as he would’ve liked, but then…
He hadn’t slept. Va’rek moved into the room and selected a seat, nodding a greeting as he lowered himself gingerly into the chair he’d chosen. It was the least comfortable looking one he could see, and he sat rigidly as he spoke. His eyes were hazel, and they took in everything in the room, including the Counselor, in an almost glassy gaze. It was as if he were trying to study his surroundings carefully, but was distracted.

“Thank you, Counselor. I appreciate your kindness. Tea would be acceptable if you have any.” He was young for a Vulcan, perhaps in his middle to late thirties. He wasn’t quite handsome in the classical style, but he wasn’t bad looking. He looked worn though. The lines of his face were deepened, heavy. His hair was a bit shaggy for what seemed like a person who was otherwise fastidious about his appearance. He was also thin, nearly gaunt. His cheekbones were high, but instead of giving his face a regal look, it merely made the hollows of his cheeks seem more clearly defined.

He looked around the room, uncomfortably, but his discomfort was a hidden thing.

Laraan nodded and went to the replicator, got two cups of tea and came back with them, placing them carefully on the little coffee table in front of them. Then she took a seat in one of the chairs opposite to him and leaned back with her cup, taking a sip, and placing it back, a soft smile on her lips.

“So, tell me. Why have you decided to hold onto your emotions?” she asked.
