Main Sim - Sunset on Risa

With little information, but an open comlink, Janna once again faced the group, even daring to draw nearer. “We can’t guarantee much of anything. We’re simply here to help you,” she said with a more level tone than before, though she was glad to know that her efforts earlier had been useful. “But quite frankly, people help themselves. If you’ve come here with a genuine interest in peace, prove it. Join the table and tell Kaylee and I what the main issue is. Maybe we can actually get some work done rather than standing about worrying about what one being may or may not be doing right now.”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Azrene leaned forward to speak, “We need this treaty, I admit this, but we have been betrayed again and again by the Klingons and Cardassians. These people,” he pointed to Eddington “have allied themselves with the Romulans who we also have been betrayed by. We want assurances that they will be controlled and not allowed to betray us again!”.

“In any negotiation, terms and conditions must be presented and agreed upon,” Kaylee said. “You all have to agree to work together.”

She looked over at Eddington. “Do you have anything to say?”

-Kaylee Baxter

Eddington straightened up and nodded with gratitude at the Athena Team. “The agreement has been stipulated in writing and hand-delivered to you by my Chief Intelligence Officer Luther Sloan.” He looked over at Kaylee and Janna then back at the delegates, ” In essence, we agree to keep our borders as they stand now, protect each other from threats from outside those borders and engage in trading relations to further strengthen our position and help to make sure that the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance is never a threat again.”

Azrene jumped in, in harsh discordant tones, “There can be no agreement when the Earth Alliance holds all the captured Klingon/Cardassian assets and is not willing to share them!”.

“It’s a fair point,” Janna said with a casual shrug. “But even in our Federation we still have to hammer out trade deals. We don’t just hand over resources because we’re allies. Economies don’t work like that. Sharing happens, but not without limits and balance.”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Kaylee nodded. “This is what negotiation and compromise is all about. You all have started the dialogue which is the most important step in the process. Now you all have to be willing to put in the work and come to an agreement.”
-Kaylee Baxter

Eddington wasn’t looking so happy at this turn of events and addressed the delegates with a frown. “However you need to consider the fact that those assets were won at the cost of Romulan and Human lives. The Taurus Pact was not involved in the overthrow of the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance so what claim do you have on the spoils of war?”

It was a valid question, but one Janna wasn’t sure would land well. However, since they had fallen into a bad cop/good cop scenario, she decided to keep playing along. “He makes a good point,” Kingston said plainly, eyeing the group of delegate. “But we can sit here and toss hostilities back and forth all day, but at some point, you’re going to have to accept that you all are going to have to possibly lose something in order to gain something in the long run. Is everyone is mutually unhappy with the agreement, then there’s a good chance it’s a good solution.”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Outside, Julien zoomed in with his right eye on the approaching shuttle to identify it while taking long strides to the other closer one, waving with his left hand at them.
Meanwhile he tried to keep Stark conscious.
“How’s it going my man? Stay with me will you? I’m bloody terrified of your cute tiny wife if I let something happen to you.” he said.

Stark nodded his head once although it seemed to drain what little energy he had left, “Isss ok” he slurred, “She’d kill you quick, no painnn”.

The other shuttle had landed and three people stepped out of the back, one was a blonde-haired woman, another was an intimidating looking man with purple eyes and the third looked for all the world like a walking brick factory. The walking pile of bricks had a slight form over his shoulder, it was Laraan.

The purple-eyed man spoke, “I think you lost this” he said with a thin smile.

OOC: Pls give their species as well, not just their looks, kinda important ;)

OOC Deliberately left out for better name dropping when the time arrives :-)

OOC: Ok, but then Julien couldn’t have seen them, otherwise he’d know the species, ergo I should know. Because seeing their species would influence his actions inevitably.

Julien kept walking towards their shuttle, while zooming in on the mirror Laraan with heat detection to acertain her body temperature. She may be Stark’s concern becuase of the resemblance to their Laraan, but she wasn’t his concern. He was a doctor right now, not a Captain and he had to act like one.

“My crew is my only concern.” he said. Not the full truth, but he wanted to get a read on the intentions of this new group before making up his mind on how to react. If they were a danger to his team in the house, he’d have to return fast after securing Stark in the shuttle.

The man nodded with a smile and they continued on their way inside where the Tholian ambassador was raising his voice at Eddington and Janna.

Stark looked blearily up at the form of Laraan and croaked, “Get me back insssside, they’lll kill her, we have to do ssssomething”.

Konral felt torn as he kneeled down with Stark as he began to ascertain more threats.

OOC: If you can only post once in a blue moon, at least try and read back to the beginning of the thread, so it makes a bit of sense, huh? Julien is walking fast with Stark to the shuttle, the others are inside the house. So you kneeling down somewhere outside currently makes no sense.

“Then I think we should perhaps ascertain WHAT is going to be gained by the Taurus Pact and WHAT the earth alliance is WILLING to give up!”

As the man and his companions walked into the auditorium there was a sudden hush and then everyone began to exclaim about the Heleen draped over the Brikar’s massive shoulders.

OOC: It now depends on their species whether he continues with Stark or returns inside…

Orvos turned to the Athena delegation, “Introductions are in order, This is M’k’nz’y of Calhoun, Xenexian Captain of the Excalibur, his first officer Commander Elizabeth Shelby and the mountain is his security chief Zac Kebron”.

“Cool, hello,” Kingston said, decidedly distracted. It was stupid; unbelievably so. But Janna wasted no time and stood in front of the prone form of Laraan, acting as a shield of sorts. But she knew the action would be rather clear. She understood that the Heleen was not the same person as her colleague and supervisor, but at the same time, she also understood that if the Athena crew allowed anyone to kill this woman, then anything they might have accomplished in terms of peace negotiations would be utterly ruined.

The Taurus delegation looked a lot less certain of themselves now that the newcomers had entered the room. This was obviously Orvos’ “ace” he had been waiting for as the ship now above in orbit would even the odds against the task force the Taurus pact had intimated was waiting nearby.

“Have you asked them? Maybe without trying to threaten them? Because you know, often you can get more with a show of good faith than you can lobbing accusations and threats.” Janna shrugged. “Just my experience talking.”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Eddington looked at the other delegates, “OK, ok, we can discuss what it is that you want, even though you haven’t earnt it, we can call it a downpayment on what it is that you’re going to be helping us with, in the decades to come.”

Thot Gor let off a large diatribe of machine speech. Orvos translated, “He said that we can start by giving them the Heleen”.

Janna shook her head. “No. Absolutely not,” she said flatly. “You’ll have to kill me to get to her and if you do that, I can guarantee these talks are doomed.” Her green eyes stared down the contingent unflinchingly and she didn’t dare look at her crew mates.

~Janna Kingston, Assistant CNS

Julien reached the shuttle, went inside without heeding Stark’s plea. “The others can take care of the situation as well, as soon as I have you restored, I can return to the house as well.” he said, while helping Stark onto a makeshift bed and running a full scan on him.
