Main Sim - Sunset on Risa

Posted June 18, 2020, 1:16 p.m. by Lieutenant Laraan (Counsellor) (Julia Hager)

(snip)

When the earthquake hit the shuttle, it tilted dangerously, standing on uneven ground as it were. Julien instantly wedged his right leg and arm into the frame of the shuttle hull, stabilizing Stark with his left so he wouldn’t be bounced off. When he saw that Stark had it under controle, he said
“Stay put, I’ll check how serious this is.”

He ran to the console, running a geological and environmental scan to gauge just in how much danger they were. Diplomacy or not, if the landing party was in danger they had to leave.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

Deep cracks were beginning to form in the substrata of the planet and it was painfully obvious from the scan that they were radiating out from the sunken platform where the orb had been stolen from. It was also obvious that because the cracks were radiating out from that point that, short of getting off the planet entirely, that spot by the dais was the safest place on the planet right now.

“I feel like this is the type of thing out of those crazy holo novels about Indiana Jones…” Konral said as he turned in as he looked for Julien hoping he had far better news about everything he was seeing.

Vander, COS

Julien just shared the scan results with Vander’s console and gave the COS a look of agreement and worry.

Within the shuttle the waiting computer chimed, =/\=Athena is now in range =/\=

High above the planet Athena and Cyrano entered into orbit to find the planet cracking across its axis as the forces unleashed by the removal of the Mirror Orb started to take their toll.

On the planet, others were beaming off if they could and heading for the safer ground offered by the Prophets Dias if they couldn’t.

Julien exhaled in relief as he saw the incoming ships and who was on them. “The Athena has arrived, and so has the Cyrano.” he said, giving Stark a smile. “With Laraan, S’Raal and your newly born grand-niece on it, all safe and sound.”

She navigated the Cyrano to the planet’s orbit and was surprised to see the damage across the surface. “I would not recommend landing unless we know where we can. This is a powder keg and we are smaller than ants in the great scheme of things.”
Delaney, Sec

On the bridge, Ghubari felt a strange sense of relief. =/\=Athena to Away Team, report,=/\= she said, wanting the lay of the land before they even mentioned the crystal. They had no idea what had befallen the crew down there while they had been away and it was imperative to make sure everyone was okay.
Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

Flat on his back Stark slapped his comm badge, to discover he’d lost it in the fight. “Third time this month,” he muttered to himself, “Orvos is going to slap me when I requisition yet another one.”

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Julien gave a chuckle and touched his com badge automatically, totally forgetting about Vander. =^= Risa away team is safe and sound, as is the shuttle where I am with Cmdr. Vander and Stark. About 20 meters from here Cmdr. Baxter has been trying to keep the diplomatic party form starting a war. Stark and Mirror Laraan are hurt. I need our Laraan and sickbay to fix them. =^= he reported.

R’han would start scanning the area, but would focus on the person that responded to the comm call.
R’han

Scans confirmed that the seismic eruptions that were tearing at the planet were coming from the sunken amphitheater where Orvos, Stark and Julien had originally found the Orb Container.
Amber

OOC We need to get the Orb pieces, Laraan and Aurora and two Liams to the Prophets chamber down below. The one that Orvos, Stark and Julien found where the Orb was stolen from. Everyone else is welcome to come along for the show :-)

“There is absolutely an massive earthquake in progress. It is a planet wide extinction level event.” R’han said as if he was reporting that the grass was green. “The shuttle is on one of the many faults.”

Moving carefully, Jann re-grouped with Kaylee and grumbled, “I need a vacation.”

Kaylee tapped her comm badge in response to the Athena’s hail. =/\= Baxter here. I have initiated an evacuation of the auditorium we were holding our negations in. We were hit pretty hard by the earthquake. I have Lieutenant Kingston with me. =/\=
-Kaylee Baxter

=/\=Acknowledged. We have the pieces of the missing orb and are about to bring it down. I’ve been told that thing should be fixed once we have certain people fix the orb,=/\= Ghubari said. Her tone was more distant than normal.=/\=I’ll be down shortly to meet up with everyone.=/\=

Outside Stark was getting worried and looked over at Julian and Konral, “Do you think we should go in there and help them all get out?”
Stark Nightstalker CIO

Julien shook his head. “My place is with you and you can’t get up yet, but …” he said and gave Vander a deep look “…I’m not in charge of this away team.” he finished.
“I really think you should be with the rest of the away team. I’ll be fine here with Stark.” he said.

M’k’n’z’y and his entourage thundered past the man-mountain still carrying Laraan, along with Eddington and *Orvos they got into their shuttle and prepared to lift off. As the door was shutting a hail came through.

=/\= Orvos, it’s Aurora, we have to get to the Prophets Dias, we’re on our way =/\=

The sound of Orvos was abruptly cut off as the door of Excalibur’s shuttle closed tight and they lifted off heading across the compound towards their destination.

OOC: My turn to be confused, but I’m going to try and weave this smoothly. Where is the dias in relation to negotiation chambers?
IC:
Janna watched them leave and then looked at everyone else. She was a bit confused but also worried about getting caught in the growing tremors.
~Janna Kingston, ACNS

After looking over scans on the Cyrano, Orvos began issuing orders. “Izzy, Laraan, and Aurora, I’m going to get us as close to the Prophet’s chamber as possible. I have a strong feeling that these tremors will end when that Orb is put back together down there. Prepare to be beamed in.” He maneuvered the Cyrano to get the best possible closeness to the Prophet Chamber without risking the rest of the ship.

Laraan just nodded her agreement to Orvos. She yearned to go to Stark, but apparently her job was not done yet and for the time being, it seemed Aurora had need of her.

“Yes sir.” Izzy replied and transferred the reigns over to him. She then carefully rewrapped the pieces of the Orb for transport with her. She wanted to think she didn’t know why she took such care with the relic, but she did. She had been a devout Neo-Catholic much of her life. Respect for spiritual artifacts was ingrained in her very being.

He then went to the computer and input commands as he saw fit. Then moving to Delaney, he said, “Maintain an open channel. I’ll be monitoring your progress, so if anything crazy happens, I’ll be there. And keep them safe.”

She looked up from the bundle as she stood and found Orvos there, the seriousness in his eyes catching her and stopping her. “Yes sir. My priority is their safety and you and I are agreed there.” Orvos would know she meant that her life was less important than the other two if the planet became more unstable or if something should go awry on the mission. Her job was probably the most important thing to her and she would always do it to the best of her ability. She walked to the back transport pad to join the others.

He then turned back to the operating console. “Ready?”
-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

“Yes sir.” she replied when everyone was ready.
Delaney, Sec

Laraan gave another silent nod.
- Laraan, CNS

OOC I never really defined where the borehole containing the sunken chamber was in comparison to the site but in my mind, it was five minutes’ walk. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/athena/posts/53291/
This is where it was first mentioned.
This may get a little messy as many threads turn up for the big finale here, come one come all :-) Ian

Ghubari paged Liam as she made her way to the transporter room.

Together, they beamed down to the place where everyone was heading. There was a thread of anxiety weaving its way through the captain as she anticipated this probably rather dramatic end to their impromptu mission. It was still instinct that had ordered her ship into the anomaly and a great deal of faith. Later she would need to reconcile some of that and weight any costs, but as seemed to be the norm in her life n Starfleet, the outcome was worth the small bits of pain. Or so she always hoped.
